How to Really Comprehend a Scientific Paper

**credit to my research advisor, she’s an amazing mentor and I aspire to be just like her someday :)

Read the abstract. Write down what the paper says it is going to be about.

Read the introduction. Write down what the paper says it is looking to accomplish and how.

Read the conclusion. Write down what the paper actually did accomplish.

Go through and find all the pictures, graphs, or diagrams. Write notes explaining these images to yourself.

Read the whole paper start to finish. Write a summary of the paper as though you are explaining it to a layperson, and then another summary as though you are explaining it to a colleague.

Throughout all of the above steps:

If there are words you don’t know google them and write down the definitions

If the paper defines a formula, law, variable, etc in a certain way write that down

If there are references to or recommendations of other literature write those down. After the last step if there’s anything you’re uncertain about or would like more information on look to that list for further reading

Keith fell first and I can prove it.

Lance obviously deals with insecurity and his place on the team, especially being the middle child in a big family. He always had to fight for attention, and he seeks positive reinforcement from people. So when Keith starts depending on him to co-lead Voltron, Lance feels *a certain way* about it. And Keith is like easily impressed with Lance and his ability to strategize and calm a situation, and likes to tell Lance these things.

But on the other side of that; Keith, who has been bounced around from foster home to foster home and is used to people not really having time to deal with him, deals with his insecurities by isolating himself. Like with Shiro its better, but there is still an assigned role there that Keith is aware of. 

Enter Lance who refuses to leave Keith alone, no matter how much Keith walks away from him. Yeah he makes fun of his mullet and being “emo”, and Keith does indeed hate it, but it becomes such a constant in his life that Keith….likes it? Like its the first consistent thing he has. 

Even when the teasing becomes more playful. Keith always knows when to expect a “Hey there, Mullet.” or “Easy there, Black Parade”, and its nice to have that constant. 

So yeah, Keith falls first. 

I can feel the tension...👀🫦

it’s a web program with like over 20k pre-made science icons you can use to make professional diagrams in minutes (or hours if you dick around a lot like yours truly. don’t mind that second thumbnail. it’s apparently supposed to be a mouse tumor but now it’s my friend). 

GONE are the days when we have to individually make a phospholipid by hand on powerpoint and then copy+paste until we threw up

or use lame speech bubbles for cells

Should I actually watch mha bc I’ve read like a million fics on it that I feel like I kinda have been spoiled for the whole thing

Also I feel like it would be another miraculous ladybug situation where the potential is peak but canon is aimed towards kids/youngish audience so it doesn’t delve into certain topics
