As the storms ebb and flow, those ships foolish enough to get caught in their swell drop down from the sky.
It's a good time to be a scavenger.
'Drop season' is the period of time on Deslocar when the storms start to cease, as the scavengers call it. It's both a time to trade your goods with off-worlders, and collect from the ships that aren't quite used to the rougher conditions...

Longing for Rotkehlchen Studies in Ornithology and Borbs, after months of investigative work and research, is proud to present you with intersex mandarin duck. 🤩

Okay then! Bumblebee!
Are you better at action, descriptions, or dialogue?
-g
Oh man descriptions all day everyday. They're so fun, and there's so much room for all that delicious symbolism and metaphor and pretty word choice.
Dialogue is also chill. Action is so goddamn hard, it always feels like a puzzle to find the right pacing and balance and word choice and interesting shit happening in a way that makes sense?? I know I can pull it off, but it requires a lot more thought than just letting descriptions or conversation flow.
Some notes on black holes for a short story I have in the works. Not going for too hard of sci-fi. I know some of the basic rules here but am also going to be breaking and twisting them around a bit. Really, these are some very, very basic notes. I'm more interested in sensation and experience than knowing a bunch of complex physics, with a dash of the right vocabulary to make things seem smart.
Embroidery sketching! Working on another patch project right now, and since this one is a little more complicated than the black hole I finished a while ago, I thought I'd share my process for mapping out what I want to embroider. (The people that draw straight on the fabric are too brave to be me.)
To do this, I start by drawing out the design with paper and pencil, and then I pin it to the fabric I want to transfer it to and stab a bunch of holes. (I used the sharp end of a drawing compass, but you can use a pen or pencil or whatever your heart desires.) Then, I used a white gel pen to create dots where all the holes were.
This results in a MESS of little spots against the background, so hang onto your original template so you remember what you're doing. But from there it's just an extra-confusing game of connect the dots! I started with the biggest shapes first, and slowly our boy Sprocket started to emerge. Excited to actually embroider this one :)
Emanuel Rye is the sheriff of Raven's Rock. He listens to the wind like it has something to say, and he'll fix his town or die trying.
Emanuel made a deal with the devil and is now a little bit haunted, and occasionally very much possessed. He has three weird little cats that he loves very much, and is happily married to Jeremiah Stonewell.
A kind, deeply protective man, Emanuel is largely liked by the citizens of the town, despite the myriad of rumors that surround him and his abilities. Whereas some are content to appreciate what he's done for them and turn a blind eye, others can't just ignore the things they might have seen.
kyhuine southern (dry valley group) crop farmers in a field of "siesu". Which are basically mold balls that can be used like cotton.
The post will be updated with additional text later about domesticated siesu and its usages.
drawing started months ago on krita but it wasn't going well, finished and painted on rebelled 7
Lineart for what will eventually be a painting of my latest DnD character, Xylem!
Xylem is a wooden robot traveling through a post-apocalyptic, mushroom filled landscape. As they go from town to town, they write down what they see, interview locals, and record the story of a world living in the shadow of what it once was. She's accompanied by a weevil friend, Phloem, who has decided she's close enough to a tree, and bores holes in her outer casing to reside inside.
DMed by the great @glacierruler :)
