Best/favourite bucky barnes headcanons? (Yours or others)

I think that one of my favorite 40s Bucky headcanons is that he was a pro of breaking into Steve’s place

Either by the window or by picking the front door lock (with sisters’ hair pin or something?) and would use this talent to drag Steve out on double dates or to make sure that he wasn’t wallowing in self pity (or just being his old introverted self) alone in his apartment before they moved in together a few weeks after Sarah’s death (time period in which Bucky repeatedly broke into Steve’s place to make sure he was still alive).

My favorite thing about this headcanon is that the neighbors were so used to Steve and Bucky’s bullshit that if they walked by and saw Bucky kneeling in front of the door picking the lock it was just another day of those silly lads’ adventures, they would just say hi and move on with their day and not worry too much about the trouble they would get into.

In Labyrinth he literally puts himself in mortal danger to help someone he just met, simply because it's the right thing to do. In The Martian he's a brilliant doctor willing to put his life at risk to bring a crew mate home. In The Last Full Measure he fights to have a fallen hero's actions posthumously rewarded even though he didn't even want the case at first. In Destroyer he (spoiler alert!) dies trying to do the right thing (and yes I'm aware he was gonna take the money and run with his partner before, but he still tried to save people). Half his fucking career at this point is Bucky, and if anyone wants to try to tell me he's not a hero, you can fuck yourself.
