Ten Places To Rest For A Hundred Years

Ten places to rest for a hundred years

Abandoned Castles, truly a classic, everyone loves castles, if there are none nearby Manors work just as well

Forest floor, another popular choice, especially if there’s moss, would not recommend if your scared of bugs, and you might get stepped on

Seaside Caves, sounds from the ocean, the light reflecting off the water is truly beautiful, but you might run into a problem with The Tide

Hollow tree/Stump, might be difficult to find the right spot but once you do it’s really cozy, again would not recommend if your scared of bugs

Catacombs, a very gothic choice, a good place if you need it to be dark and quiet to sleep, not great if your scared of dead things

Under a Lake / in a bog, obviously it’s not for everyone but it’s beautiful, it’s quiet, and your not disturbed as much as a forest floor

Any caves, it can be easy or difficult to find you, for the most part it’s dark and quiet, you aren’t disturbed, Claustrophobia might stop you

Become a statue, if your able to do it I would recommend you do it at least once, maybe not for your first time though

Trapped inside objects, it could be jewelry, lanterns, Weapons, crystal balls, candelabras, all easy to store and travel with

In the middle of a labyrinth/Maze, your undisturbed, there’s room to add fun little traps and tricks, truly underrated

Odysseus's fixation upon his son could possibly be explained by the timeline.

A small thing that needs to be said is that according to Homer Odysseus left Telemachus a "newborn" (or at least so Menelaus says in the Odyssey). Interestingly is hard to tell how long Odysseus and Penelope have been married before they had Telemachus because the time line is not cut and clear.

It seems like their marriage took place during the oath of Tyndareus period when Odysseus was at Sparta as a suitor to Helen. From the Oath till Helen's infidelity or abduction or forced seduction by Aphrodite we see there were around 10 years of difference (quite frankly according to some accounts Helen mentions she was 20 years in Troy). That means that he and Penelope were potentially married at least a decade (which makes sense given that he made a wedding bed for her from scratch making it seem that their palace was also being rebuilt at that time)

But if Telemachus was newborn or almost newborn (like let's say about 1 year old tops) that means that Odysseus and Penelope were childless for almost a decade. Either that means they were having some issues aka Odysseus running errands in the kingdom or that they were trying very hard to have children and somehow they couldn't

Do you imagine what this means?

Odysseus potentially had to leave behind a son he wished for for almost a decade full and not to mention that Palamedes nearly killed him, that very son that he potentially tried so hard for and wished for so much!

Hell no wonder he names himself "Father of Telemachus" and quite frankly one can understand why he would hold a grudge against Palamedes (be it Higenius you follow where he frames him or be it Pausanias who says he drowned him) one can imagine why his brain would snap like that! If this hypothesis is correct that is.

Habits that changed my life for the better

I stopped joking about myself. It was mostly about suicide jokes (it was a decision that I made after the worst moment of my journey with depression, if I can call it that), but, really, it's about all self-deprecating stuff. It may be just jokes, but it stays in your brain.

Positive attitude. It's similar to manifestation, in a way, but in a... down to earth way, I guess. Thinking positively about stuff changes everything for me. Almost everything is simpler.

I deleted Twitter. It may be a different social media for everyone, of course - now probably TikTok for most - but, well, Twitter was where I spent long hours everyday. I started taking breaks from it about a year and a half ago and deleted it in August. It was hard - I loved the community there and I miss the daily updates from my fav fandoms, but it's for the best. I still can't explain how Twitter affected me but I do feel better since I stopped spending so much time there.

Taking vitamins. I didn't think it would really make a difference but it definitely did. The biggest surprise for me was vitamin C - my immune system has improved super quickly when I started supplementing it. I didn't even realise how bad it was before. Other than that, I take B complex, A+E (hair, skin), and iron (i tend to have a deficiency of it). (& D when it's winter).

Having a consistent skin care routine. It's calming and both doing the routine and seeing the effects make me feel better. (I do realise that many people have more demanding skin than me and searching for the right products can be frustrating and expensive. I'm just talking about my experience).

Other things that I think are worth mentioning:

Therapy - just a short explanation that I've been on therapy (with breaks) for about 6 years now. I've had social anxiety for most of my life, now still struggle with depression (and amnesia, actually) a bit, but what I wanted to mention here is that I learned a lot from it. It's obvious, but I just think it's important to pinpoint that I did not just learn how to think more positively and love myself by myself.

Exercising! - I still struggle to make it a habit, but when I actually do exercise regularly (I do pilates), I really feel better. It's worth it.

Hydration - same with drinking water. I really don't think I have to explain it in any way lol.

Glowy dark mode site skin

Screenshot of the AO3 homepage. The header has a picture of a dark forest at night with green mist and hundreds of glowing fireflies. The site's background is almost-black. Text is a pale yellow. Pale yellow glow effects have been applied throughout.
Screenshot of a work blurb. Archive Warnings have a glowy yellow background. Relationship tags are bright yellow and bolded. The footer is a medium green with the same pale yellow text as elsewhere. Buttons are a matching medium green with glow effect behind them.
Screenshot of the Fandoms page. The box around each fandom list is the same pale yellow with glow effect as elsewhere.
The Work Search page. The background of the page is almost-black and each element has a glow effect.
The Filters Sidebar has an almost-black background and pale yellow text. Most of the text has been bolded.
A sample work to show the readability of the yellow text on the almost-black background.

🎼 You would not believe your eyes, if 10 million fireflies ended up in the header of your AO3. 🎶

It's been a while since I tried glow effects, but I saw the fireflies and I couldn't resist.

CSS code under the cut.
