It is absolutely vital in any fandom to have a favourite character who you want to wrap up in a pile of blankets and give sweet treats to and a favourite character you want to beat on the head with hammers.
Here is a neat little photography evolution that I am proud to share! I took the first photo in 2021, and the second earlier this year.
I’ve always found shooting black skimmer feeding behavior particularly difficult, as they’re so swift and can change direction very quickly. It’s one of my favorite bill adaptations in the world of birds though, so I’m determined to practice until I get the perfect shot. I’m not there yet, but I was happy to stumble upon one of my photos from just a few years ago to appreciate how far I’ve come!
too many movies have been ruined by not casting ugly people
i love Opiliones!!! you may know that they're not spiders (Aranea) , but you may not know why they're not spiders-- these pictures provide an excellent couple examples!
unlike Aranea, Opiliones have less than eight eyes (up to six). the connection between the cephalothorax (head) and the abdomen (bulbous back part) is much less defined, lending them a more circular body shape than spiders. they do not have silk or venom glands-- their mouthparts are more suited to chewing than piercing. overall very cute and fun arachnids!
now go appreciate your local harvestmen and marvel at the world !
We really are sleeping on harvestmen. They're so cool, and most people don't know about any besides the common daddy long legs!
Amazonian harvestman (Protimesius sp.)
Callcosma sp. from Ecuador
Rilaena triangularis
Spiny harvestman (Propachylus singularis)
Bunny harvestman (Metagryne bicolumnata)
