So, I’ve decided to work on the roughs for an old comic project I’ve wanted to do for years, and @plaguenurse did a remix with the baby being punched today.
It’s very dark humor, and it’s like…it makes me feel bad, but it’s also hilarious, and it’s just one of those things where I don’t know how to respond to it.
Today I learned that Corel Painter has a new edition out now, Adobe Flash is now Adobe Animate, and that Toon Boom Studio is no longer available for commercial purchase.
I’ve been caught off guard with these developments. I’m disappointed and surprised.
This should be the absolute last thing I should probably have finished for today...because ain’t poster design fun?
(Also, I used a mock-up from over here, for full disclosure.)
Taking a break on comic making to work on a crime drama novel for NaNoWriMo feels strange, but there’s only so much I can do in a single day, so eh.
I’ll hopefully bang out this novel quickly and then get back to comic making..and I’ll probably make a book design this month as a result.
The first panel is almost done! That said, aiming to the hatching look vaguely like medieval woodcuts is not as easy as I was hoping it would be, so it seems like this might be another one of those time-sink pages. :/
So, I finally got to making the base vector for my webcomic’s logo...other little fixes aside. Also, this means that the name of this project is out there. :P
(That said, I have learned that it’s actually significantly harder to make wordmarks in Adobe Illustrator that look like wood carvings than it is to do more curvy handlettering in it. Yikes.)
So, I got hit with a clopening the first day at my new job, and I feel sick from sleep deprivation.
I'm considering sleeping and moving the stream to tomorrow afternoon after running a few errands that matter a whole lot to me.
I ended up finding a REALLY old high school doodle of a character I made when I was about 15-16ish. I haven’t drawn much of him in a while.
It was my 26th birthday last week, and I decided to try to do a speedpaint of the same thing about a month ago in order to get a general idea of the progress I’ve made in the past decade. Overall, it’s definitely and improvement, to say the least, assuming I’m only given an hour or so to pop something out.
I’m quite pleased to see an obvious visual improvement at this point.
(Also, I’m totally not enamored with this character, I swear...even if he is a main protagonist in a story I wanted to write. I’ll try my best get to him later.)
So, I’m working on a new page—lots of hands, I’ve noticed. Also, spending a bunch of time drawing rocks was kinda fun. But yeah, this is a wip.
This is the culmination of a six week class on 3D modeling that’s required for me to officially grab one of my two degrees.
I’m also pretty happy that I thought of a game idea where you’d need light to survive—to the point where you’d just keel over if you weren’t near any light at all. So, I asked if I was allowed to make a HUB for it too, and it was OK’d...so, I did.
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
