This was a quick and dirty typographic design I had in mind years ago, except that it was one of those ideas that I couldn’t execute to my liking at the time.
After a few years and a bit of spare time, and I’m more or less OK with what I can do for the sake of this particular design.
I’ve been to a lot of places. :’D
…I just got a glitchy version of the taxes design a few minutes after I posted it.
I have no idea how that happened, but here.
So, the kitsune death god I’ve been meaning to draw has been mostly speedpainted in the past 3 hours. I need to work on some contrast stuff, rendering that scythe, and deciding on the left hand, but...eh. Still pretty cool
Also, I have a 5-minute Milhouse doodle for no reason other than being asked.
It’s not even a good Milhouse doodle, pssh.
I actually finished the Apollo CD design portion of my own personal project that I mentioned back when I posted the Artemis half of the project.
Of course, I’ve made Apollonian gaskets central to the design of this particular set...as well as the sun, because Apollo is a sun god.
I decided to draw some very tiny, low res Stardust Crusaders for the 50 followers Twitch stream today! Also, it turned out to be a good endurance test—I haven’t sustained 7 hours of solid drawing in a while.
(Fun Note; Avdol actually turned out to be my favorite one to draw. I also wonder if Araki wanted to kill him off because he’s so detailed...but that’s actually what I enjoyed about Avdol’s design when I actually got into drawing him.)
Friend: Is Brendon Urie even real?
Me: I don't know, but even if he is a fever dream, he's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.
While fretting over what the bloody hell I’m doing for a freelance client I have on hand (because it’s teetering into Clients from Hell territory), I decided to go ahead and make this thing after working on a few tweaks to Truffle’s Instagram photos (because glowy eyes are not cool.)
I’ve been obsessed with Somebody That I Used To Know remixes. Particularly, I’ve been hooked on this 80s remix and the Tiesto remix.
I decided to go ahead and make a retro typgraphic thing for myself as a result.
So, I have a Tumblr on the side called @dandyreblogs now. I'll probably modify it to look like my current icon, but slightly different. I'm planning on using it as an aesthetic Tumblr exclusively.
As a piece of advice to anyone who ever gets involved with clients from hell that attempt to stiff you on art work, design work, etc that I wish I had learned sooner instead of assuming that being too poor to afford copyright attorneys I know meant that I had to sit here and accept design theft...
...in the United States, you can take the aforementioned non-compliant client to small claims court, assuming it falls under that threshold. Different states have different thresholds for what constitutes a small claim, but overall, it should cover most artists on Tumblr. (I say this because even at my historic design rates and the extent of work I did, I manage to fall under Florida's $5000 threshold.)
Of course, I'm in this situation currently, so that's why I bring this up. Essentially, I wish someone told me that I didn't need an attorney while working as a lower-tier designer sooner.
The Instagram version of this is so much better, btw. Here is this thing in its non-pixelated glory.
I wrote the thing. I wrote a slice-of-life Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusader’s fanfic involving stupid parlor tricks. All in three hours.
You’re welcome, but also, why do I feel like this is a mistake? It’s safe for work and relatively innocuous, but still.
Also, the title is a slight modification of the first lyric in Cherry by Chromatics. Go listen to that—it’s a really good song, I promise.
Greetings and salutations! I'm a graphic designer/illustrator, and this is my Tumblr. Feel free to check my about page for more info about me. Also, I only post my own things here—almost all reblogs will go to @dandyreblogs. Check that out if you're into aesthetics and other curious things.
