The Trump administration 120 days ban ended on Tuesday but still, there are 11 “high risks” countries that are still excluded from the ban. The memo stated that the identification of the refugees from those 11 countries is on hold for processing.
The delay is for the family reunification for some U.S. based refugees. But the memo expressed concern to allow them, that’s why the government will allow a 90-day vetting process to seek that if there are any necessary safeguard to add for the safety of USA.
The state department has said that the reviewing process can take up to 18 to 14 months. But immigration attorney has stated that the process takes more time, refugees wait for four to eight months before the screening is complete.
