I feel like a lot of the biblically accurate angel crowd seem to feel like depictions of angels are too "boring" or they're not religious themselves and think angels are only depicted in the Bible/Christianity. Which is doing such a big disrespect to the gorgeous Jewish and Islamic artwork of angels from hundreds of years ago!
Oh yeah, I saw this all the time when researching this for the Fan Myths last year. Any jokey memes about it are inevitably founded in earnestness.
Even here, "boring babi halo dog" is much closer to reality (relatively) than some imagined "eldritch" nightmare which as a concept has barely been around for 100 years. š At this point, it's basically a test to see who does or doesn't possess enough perspective to see through the meme.
You're right though. While I can't think of much Jewish angel art prior to the 20th century, angels in Islam are imagined quite beautifully with their often kaleidoscopic bird wings.

in 12 years went from being forced to pose for a family photoshoot to just being happy to be there together
Warning: Long Post, Bragging about
For me, itās tied with Valigarmanda (not Tritoch) and Ultima Weapon (not Atma Weapon, as much as it hurts me since i love DDS but i digress) both from FFVI
Valigarmanda is such a underappreciated Summon, Esper, Eidolon, whatever. i love this Quetzalcoalt-looking thing (i donāt know if would be a better feathered serpent design for quetzalcoalt than smt 1 quetz but thatās beside the point) despite how much important it is for FF6ā²s plots (being the first Esper you encounter not counting the half-esper herself, terra, which speaking of which, it also help her to unlock her esper form) itās kinda of a shame that outside of itās debut game, it barely appears, and most of itās otherĀ āappearancesā are just reference to it (which an antagonist from world of final fantasy being probably itās most important non-ffvi āappearancesā) i think itās gimmick being aĀ ātri-elementalā summon would atleast make it stand out for most other summons in the franchise.
Ultima Weapon is also very badass design and (thankfully) it does appear in more FF games (thought sometimes other i can be a pain trying to refer specifically to this thing since i usually refers to the weapon (both the FFVII and the literal definition of the word) of the same name. (also Battle to the Death slams)
honorable mentions, in not particular order:
The Weapons from FFVII
Odin
Behemoth
Typhon
Sprite Gilgamesh (yeah, iām kinda weird)
Diabolos
The Four Fiends from FFI
The Four Archfiends from FFIV
Shinryu
Sefer Sephiroth
Alexander
Leviathan
Deathgazer
The Warring Triad
so what's your favorite Final Fantasy Monster? (whatever if is "myth accurate" or just looks cool)
Accuracy to myth is definitely not something that figures into my appraisal of FF designs. Anyway:
this was the most freak shit that a preadolescent soren ever saw. still unfuckwithable to this very day. god this shit is sick. fuck!!!
"Biblically accurate-" Angels aren't exclusive to the bible. I will now kill you
is probably one those details that are just here to look cool and nothing else, it doesn't make that vishnu "non-vishnu" and they can stay there
Asking you because I can't find anything about it myself. What are those two long objects strapped onto Vishnu's back, near his shoulders? Are they non-specific items that represent snakes or do they have an established identity?
I have no idea!
Have seriously been wondering about these for the longest time. If you know what these could be, drop me a line!
Should i tell you that satan is a completely different demon? He's on the side of god and looks like this:
Why is he on god side? Because he's based on the "ha-satan" of the hebrew bible/tanakh while lucifer is based on the devil in the christian new testament and "satan" of paradise lost
drew this because of that regular show meme from a year ago, specifically the "Benson watching Mordecai and Rigby summon satan unto the garage because they wanted some chips" one
