Bharani, Purva Phalguni, Purva Ashadha
Hi all, I've been gone for sometime now but I thought I may as well post something from my drafts. Hope you all enjoy! ๐
Sukra is the Hindu God who is known as planet Venus. He not only rules over the signs of Taurus and Libra, but also the nakshatras; Bharani, Purva Phalguni and Purva Ashadha. The word Sukra translates to 'bright' or 'clear', as Venus is literally the most visible planet during night fall, bright, glimmering and illuminated. For this reason planet Sukra indicates all that we desire in life; wealth, material pleasure, love, relationships, beauty and art. All that Venus represents is inherently feminine, beautiful and attractive to us.
Sukra's rulership over Taurus and Libra expresses his desirability in two very keystone ways. Taurus indicates materialism, wealth and sensuality. Whereas Libra indicates love, balance, relationships and beauty. On the other hand, the Venus ruled Nakshatras divide themselves into a more in-depth understanding of Venus.
Sukra was entwined within the two worlds of the Devas and Asuras (Gods and Demons). He was considered the Guru of the Asuras (Teacher of the Demons), yet held strong relations with the Devas, specifically Lord Shiva (The Destroyer).
As Venus represents all that we could desire in life, he therefore is who naturally inspires demonic energy. Although being considered a planet rich in positive and beneficial qualities himself, the negative side of Sukra relates to such sayings as; Desire is the root of suffering or Beauty is pain. Venus is inherently situated on this polarity. All the things that Sukra represents has potential to bring out the worst in an individual, it is important that we don't ignore this fact, rather than simply become mesmerised by his immense beauty and desirability.
One story told depicts Sukra residing within the stomach of Lord Shiva (The Destroyer), meditating for a thousand years. Sukra was later ejected out into the world by the force of Lord Shiva.
Unbeknownst to me as to how Sukra ended up in the pit of Shiva's stomach, I find this story deeply symbolic of Venus. Sukra did not experience this grant of emission into the world by any such Deva, it was Shiva, God of Destruction. This is why the Venus Nakshatras embody fierceness, rather than a quality rooted in tenderness or softness. Ejection is an act that is forceful in nature too, solidifying our understanding that Venus has some inherent magnetism and strength.
All of the Venus Nakshatras are considered to possess a fierce quality. Fierceness carries with it themes of destruction, fire and confrontations. Fittingly, these nakshatras are all located within the heart of the fire signs, Aries, Sagittarius and Leo. Fire signs are of course the most passionate, intense and energetic celestial locations of the zodiac.
Sign: Aries, Symbol: Vulva, Deity: Yama (God of death)
Bharani is the most intense of the Venus Nakshatras, unsurprisingly so, as Aries being ruled by Mars garners the most potent manifestation of the fire signs. The word Bharani translates to "bearing children", indicating that this nakshatra is that of heaviness, suffering, beauty, transformation and fertility. Understanding this, the symbol of a vulva representing Bharani is needless to say relating to very similar themes, yet additionally, apparent feminine sexual potency.
Yama (God of Death) ruling over this nakshatra deepens the relations Bharani holds with transformation and depth. This nakshatra is intense and fear inducing - beyond what can be comprehensively measured. Bharani resembles best the polarity of life and death, mortality is what essentially ignites our carnal motive to create life.
Sign: Leo, Symbol: Bed, Deity: Bhaga (God of Love and Marriage)
The word Purva Phalguni translates to "the first reddish lady". The term reddish lady simply means a fertile woman. It is a given that Purva Phalguni nakshatra relates immensely to sexual and romantic pleasures. Considering this nakshatra is the first sequence of 'Phalguni', it carries with it an initiating tone - both inviting and alluring. As Purva Phalguni is symbolised by a bed, this nakshatra deepens it's roots within the realms of sexual pleasure and recreation. Beds are also associated with structure and stability, being which a small key when understanding the nature of Purva Phalguni.
Bhaga (God of Love and Marriage) ruling over this nakshatra deepens it's ties with not only the pleasure received by the outcome of love, but also commitment. All that love has to offer within committed relationships is inherently of the purpose to be stable and abundantly pleasurable.
Sign: Sagittarius, Symbol: Elephant Tusk and Fan, Deity: Apas (Goddess of Water)
Purva Ashadha translates to the "the first invincible one". This nakshatra relates to a force of impenetrable strength, yet not in a masculine way, Purva Ashadha bridges the tie between strength is the kind that is effortless, fluid and feminine.
Although Purva Ashadha is strong, as signified by the elephant tusk, it is also symbolised by a fan. This is the last of the Venus Nakshatras, where the immense heat of Aries and Leo has metaphorically cooled from the heat bestowed from Mars and Sun. Jupiter is not as hot and harsh as these previous planets, so to say that Venus has cooled off and matured in a sense is understandable.
Apas (Goddess of Water) ruling over this nakshatra creates a dynamic nature of both force and fluidity. She is of course the most feminine of deities to rule over the Venus Nakshatras. Purva Ashadha does not only embody strength and stability, this nakshatra is attuned deeply with emotion, beauty, softness and moisture.

avatar the last airbender & the nodes ๐๏ธ โผ๏ฝกหโ * ๊ค
one of my fav childhood cartoons of all time! i think this scene is great for understanding the nodes
zuko here represents rahu / the north node. aang represents ketu / south node. they both merge to be understood as destiny and fate ~ zuko is obsessed with his destiny for the entire duration of the show, and aangโs spirit is intertwined with his destiny as he is reincarnated as the avatar
zuko is of a greedy colonial empire that has genocided, forcefully displaced, colonized, and more. he was obsessed with his destiny, but his obsession distorted his perception of what his destiny actually was. does that not sound like the ravenous north node?
aang is from a nomadic and spiritual monk group, but he was permanently severed from his people after they were genocided. he, as the avatar, also is obligated to reincarnate to bring balance in the world. and him being an air nomad shows that thereโs still a disconnect he has to have from the world in order to fulfill his avatar duties. does that not sound like the detached south node? ( edit: especially with the 100% bald head )
fate brought them together. zuko is the descendant of aangโs past carnation. which makes them spiritually linked. they arenโt separate from each other, but instead, two sides of one coin. and they later become some of the closest people in gaang ๐ค especially because fate would have it that zuko ~ being blood of aangโs past life and the blood of the one who genocided aangโs people ~ is who destiny decided would teach aang firebending
aang was terrified of firebending because of his wound relating to fire: the fire nation killed his entire people, and when he learned to bend it, he hurt katara. he swore to never bend it again. after all, he had only known fire to be destructive
but his reluctance to use firebending showed that he was too attached to worldly constructs and concepts. so much that it interfered with his ability to fulfill his duty as avatar. not as the last airbender, but as the avatar. fate would have it that aang would have to learn bending from the one descended from his genociders. and to do that, he had to detach. thus, fulfilling his role as ketu / avatar
they also had to detach from their own world to do this and travel to a land that mirrors pre-colonial mesoamerican natives. where the sun and dragons are respected for how they gave and mastered fire. and from that, aang learns fire isnโt death. fire is life.
same can be said for zuko to fulfill his role as rahu. but together, they were unstoppable. this show is wonderful and if u look at it from a vedic or traditional astrological perspective, u get so much enlightenment!
An exalted planet means this planet has reached the higher point in its own sky. There, the planet feels free to unleash its power for better... Or worse. The sign where the planet is exalted allows the planet to flourish, as well as the nakshatra where the exaltation degree falls.
Moon gets exalted at 3ยฐ of Taurus which is situated in Krittika nakshatra (Krittika: 26ยฐ40 Aries to 10ยฐ00 Taurus). Here, the Moon is full of soma, the nectar of immortality. Full of vitality, the Moon has reached an uncommon well-being, which leads to a tremendous charisma and, most importantly, a high dose of desires. Charisma and desires are typical traits of Krittika. Its point of exaltation being in the Taurus part of Krittika, this huge amount of inflamed desires is not perceptible at first. Taurus Krittika natives, especially those with the Moon placed there, will not show the openly Aries-type aggressive and passionate nature of Krittika at first but instead, they will show gentleness, politeness and diplomacy. The Moon full of soma does not need to be violent to get what it wants because the Moon feels SO good. Nothing can resist this charming and attractive Moon here. Krittika is ruled by Agni, the God of fire that sustains life, vitality, health. But Agni is also known for his huge appetite. He possesses 7 tongues and he eats the offerings of the mortals to the Gods. Moon's desires get amplified: love of the material world and luxuries get exacerbated. However, Agni is also the messenger to the Gods hence having two heads, one that looks at the world down there and the heavenly realms. Moon exalted here can offer to the natives a spiritual impulse depending on the rest of the chart. It also shows their capability to adapt themselves in different environments and their ability to communicate well. The Moon is the Queen of your chart, she needs to be surrounded by people and she knows how to gently adapt herself. The interesting part of Krittika is the other co-ruler, who is Kartikeya. Kartikeya has a link with Agni as Agni acted as the incubator during his conception. Kartikeya was not born as a child but as a warrior. He did not wait long to lead the armies to fight powerful enemies. The Moon's emotional strength has reached its peak in Krittika and nothing can stop them: the natives are secretly endowed with a warrior nature. The Moon does not like to be disturbed, the Moon wants peace: the Queen will find associates to get rid of those who dare upset her as well as her loved ones. Agni is fire; Moon is water: Moon's point of exaltation shows the mysterious intimate link between fire and water. The Agnichayana ritual involves a huge fire that brings rain; Kartikeya's conception was supported by both Agni the fire and the waters of Ganges. When the exalted Moon gets afflicted, it ignores the ethics. The desires come before everything else. Agni did not hesitate to pretend to be someone else to seduce the wives of a sage... Self-centeredness of a strong and afflicted exalted Moon can lead to overconfidence. Overconfidence leads to thoughtless actions and multiple disasters. Weak exalted Moon natives (waning Moon) will think twice before taking action and they might feel they are not self-confident enough though. Weak or strong exalted Moon in Krittika natives may deal with phobias, mental health issues and impatience. The queen can quickly feel frustrated and jealous, so, do not bother her... Otherwise, you will be surprised!
