The moment Mabel gets her grappling hook, the scene presents it as if you should be questioning why Mabel wants it, with answer being “that’s just Mabel!”

But there’s not any attention being brought to question why there was a grappling hook in the gift shop.

Was it merchandise like Dipper’s hat? Why would you sell that in a gift shop?? Was it just something Stan had lying around? (seems plausible) If so, why was it in boxes in the gift shop?
