I swear on Janna I'm not abandoning Low Lays the Devil in Me, but I have to write a CaitVi one shot inspired by this. I'm already 3000 words into it and it really only will a one shot. Think of it as like a little balm to the angst in Low Lays the Devil 😂😂

“I don’t think you’re stupid, Mohan,” Caitlyn said quietly, but resolutely as she met his gaze. He hummed, almost like he didn’t believe her. “Well, then throw me a bone. It’s okay if you’re pissed at your boss for giving you an assignment that he knew would fuck with you emotionally.” She sighed harshly and ran her fingers through her hair. Opening up a little bit wouldn’t hurt, she thought. “Fine, I am angry,” she stated, allowing some of her fury to break through. Mohan just stared at her, taking a drag from his cigarette. After several moments, he nodded. “Okay, then. Let’s guard your family’s shit,” he said, stamping his cigarette out.

She shifted her weight between her feet and wrung her fingers together. Cassandra, ever observant, furrowed her brow. “Caitlyn, is something wro—" “Can we talk?” Caitlyn blurted out, rudely interrupting her matriarch. She flushed at her inability to control her mouth and forced herself to speak more calmly. “When I get back, I mean?” Cassandra, who had been surprised by Caitlyn’s outburst, blinked in confusion. “Talk?” she parroted. Caitlyn nodded, the lump in her throat made it difficult to form words around. Her mother must have seen something—something different—in her eyes as Caitlyn noticed she had stopped breathing. “Of course, Caity. Whenever you’re free, I’ll be here.”

The slight turn that the new "Tethered" chapter has taken is interesting. It's kind of turning out like I hoped, but also pretty different at the same time. I'm excited! Hopefully I can get it up tonight or tomorrow morning.

Okay, so I think I have the rest of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" planned out. As of right now, there are about 5-6 chapters left with the potential for an epilogue. We'll see how it goes. This is a loose outline. Aaaah, I can't believe we're getting that close, though!!

Caitlyn’s reverie of Vi’s attractively full lips was interrupted by Grady. “Miss Kiramman, shall I call in your art tutor, and she can have you begin a lesson in still life drawing with Miss Vi as your first subject?” Vi snickered as she watched a mortified Caitlyn blush from her neck to her hairline. She briefly fantasized about asking her mother to fire Grady. “I’m sorry, Professor. I promise I’ll focus,” she said in a strained voice. Vi continued to quietly laugh at her embarrassment, and Caitlyn clenched her jaw to resist the urge to growl in frustration.

Janna preserve me, Caitlyn thought in frustration. She shut the door shut just hard enough to startle the man awake, who shot up like a gun, a piece of paper he had drooled on sticking to his face. “I don’t have your money,” he said quickly and sleep slurred. “Captain Reese, I’m Officer Caitlyn Kiramman. I was sent over here from North Piltover Station for reassignment,” Caitlyn stated. The man blinked his dull, watery blue eyes several times at her, as if he wasn’t sure if she was real or not. “You’re who from where?” he asked as he pulled the paper off of him.

Okay, for real this time, I plan on having the next chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" out either late tonight (US time) or tomorrow morning, but most likely tomorrow. I'm happy with how it's turning out, and it's a nice little set-up chapter for the last arc of our story. Sorry it's taken me longer than planned, but it's coming along! I'm about 4000 words in and maybe have about 1000 words left, but alas, I must work.

I will let you guys know now that there will not be a sequel to this fic. I already have the ending planned and have had the same scene planned since the first chapter of this fic. It's been a lot of fun to write, but it will be a complete story that ends this series nicely, if I may be so bold as to say so.

not me being a romantic but just wanted to ask anyway — will there ever be a flashforward to a caitvi proposal and/or wedding in any of ur fics 🥹 i just rly love the parts in Low Lays the Devil In Me where Cait just yeaaarns for a future with Vi & to grow old with her and i was just wondering if thats smth you’d ever write about ? (no pressure to answer this in case u didnt wanna spoil any future plans btw ❤️)

I don't want to say specifics in case of spoilers. I will say that I have a plan for something like what you're asking, but I won't say for which fic.
