Damn it all. I am so torn. I don't really want to rewrite "Tethered," but Caitlyn's journey throughout Runeterra that she experienced is such a cool idea that to waste it on an exposition or even just a flashback chapter upsets me. And it's inspiring me to do a whole new story with full world building and exploring the magic of Runeterra that would explain the tether more.
I am deeply, deeply tempted to rewrite the story and have it be alternating perspectives between Vi and Caitlyn and change some things now that I know where the story is going to have it make more sense. Ugh!
Edit: I also know that a lot of people really like this story and I would hate to disappoint them, but I honestly think I could write a much better version of it that would be much more satisfying.
Omfg don't look at me. What was supposed to be a cute little one shot has turned into what will be over 10,000 words of pure indulgence đ«Łđ«Ł Hope to have it up before I go to bed but no promises.
I swear on Janna I'm not abandoning Low Lays the Devil in Me, but I have to write a CaitVi one shot inspired by this. I'm already 3000 words into it and it really only will a one shot. Think of it as like a little balm to the angst in Low Lays the Devil đđ
Question! This chapter for Noxus is suuuuper long. Like, so far is over 20,000 words and I still have one big conversation to wrap up and some descriptions and supplemental scenes and then I'm done. Should I split this mini-book into two chapters (Noxus Part 1 and Noxus Part 2) or keep it as one big chapter?
INCOMING! I have some edits I need to do for the next chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" and I'm hoping to get it done in the next few hours before I have to go to work. You guys wanted a Vi rescue mission? You will soon have 11,500+ words worth of a chapter on it đ just know that it gets pretty dark given the situation our characters have found themselves in, but not too graphic.
I mean...there's a reason why 3 of my major fics are them meeting 2 seconds after this very moment...
Caitlyn rolled her eyes. âGods, you can be quite dramatic sometimes.â Outrage filtered through the tether, but then gave way to shock when Caitlyn reached out and laid her hand over Viâs, which she could just make out in the dark. âWhat the hell are you doing, Kiramman?â Vi asked. Caitlyn felt Irelia sigh contentedly, and the pulling stopped. âCompromising with the tether,â she answered. âI donât know about you, but Iâm exhausted after today and would like to sleep instead of fighting it. Iâm not saying we should let it do what it did last night, but maybe this will tide it over.â Vi hummed uncertainly, but Caitlyn felt her relax against the mattress again. âFine. But the little parasite better not try anything.â Caitlyn tutted in disapproval at the nickname. âYouâre incorrigible.â

Vi opens up to Caitlyn as they take an important step towards trusting each other.
Literally how I write every chapter đ€Ł
me, struggling to write: hmm, this part is a little difficult. maybe i should check my planning document, which i created as a helpful tool for my writing process!
the planning document:
Saw a post about someone asking who will write a pirate AU for CaitVi. Is that something you guys would like to read from me after Low Lays the Devil in Me is done?
Vi stared at the woman. For a long, long minute. To the councilorâs credit, she did not squirm or repeat herself. The teenager let out an uncomfortably chuckle, unsure how else to react. Vi would have been less surprised if the councilor had asked her to pose naked as an art installation at the Gala. âIâm sorry,â Vi said very carefully. âYou just asked me, a sump-raker who has onlyââ âViolet, I really must say, I truly dislike how often you refer to yourself in such derogatory terms,â the councilor interrupted in an unhappy tone. Vi rolled her eyes. âYou want me, an orphan Zaunite born in the deepest depths of the fissures and who tried to rob you, to be Caitlyn Kirammanâsâyour daughterâsâdate to one of the most extravagant Piltover high society celebrations of the year?â Vi asked, hoping the woman would hear how ludicrous that sounded. âYes,â Councilor Kiramman said with no hesitation.
Councilor Kiramman has a potentially awkward request to make of Vi. Vi finds herself at the Kiramman Manor, again, to speak with Caitlyn about her mother's awkward request.
Okay, for real this time, I plan on having the next chapter of "Low Lays the Devil in Me" out either late tonight (US time) or tomorrow morning, but most likely tomorrow. I'm happy with how it's turning out, and it's a nice little set-up chapter for the last arc of our story. Sorry it's taken me longer than planned, but it's coming along! I'm about 4000 words in and maybe have about 1000 words left, but alas, I must work.
I will let you guys know now that there will not be a sequel to this fic. I already have the ending planned and have had the same scene planned since the first chapter of this fic. It's been a lot of fun to write, but it will be a complete story that ends this series nicely, if I may be so bold as to say so.
