Jaskier give Geralt a coat. It's a very nice coat, one that Jaskier's had since before Geralt met him. A fur coat, the same chestnut brown as Jaskier's hair and the softest thing Geralt has ever touched. It must have cost the bard a fortune.
At first Geralt protests, saying Jaskier shouldn't waste something so precious on him, but Jaskier wouldn't hear of it. He told Geralt that there's no one he'd rather give his coat to and no one he'd trust more to take care of it. With the bard looking at him so earnestly and tender Geralt couldn't say no.
He'd considered leaving it at Kaer Morhen, where it couldn't be stolen or damaged, but something about leaving it behind didn't feel right. It was such an important gift from Jaskier that he didn't want to be separated from it. So he keeps the coat tucked away in his saddlebag and guarded by Roach at all times, the safest place it could be while still within reach. And it's not as if he never used it. He'd pull the coat out on extra cold nights while on the path. The fur was so warm it chased off any chill in the air. The fond smile on Jaskier's face when he saw him using it also helped warm him from the inside out.
It wasn't until a particularly freezing winter at Kaer Morhen, when Geralt felt the need to pull out the coat even in the keep, that he learned the true significance of the gift. When Vesemir's raised eyebrow at the sight of the coat and pointed questioning about its origin led to Geralt realizing that he'd been trusted with Jaskier's selkie skin
