A brief but lovely midwinter tune, written by a friend of mine.
Give thanks for this, the shortest day,
Keep out the winter's breath
Grant us health and peace and faith
And help us get some rest.
You have to surrender to your mediocrity, and just write. Because it’s hard, really hard, to write even a crappy book. But it’s better to write a book that kind of sucks rather than no book at all, as you wait around to magically become Faulkner. No one is going to write your book for you and you can’t write anybody’s book but your own.

Yes! This is up there with the Amy Poehler thing about doing things right now, before you’re ready, because great people do things before they are ready.

In one scene, Kevin McCallister looks out at the New York skyline and whispers, “Good night, Mom.” His mother then looks out a different window and whispers, “Good night, Kevin,” despite being in Miami, over 1200 miles away! This mistake could be overlooked if not for the fact that the entire basis of the film is that Kevin is separated from his family, thus making the idea that they are having a conversation ridiculous.
