Jaskier chuckled, “Judging on how we met, I thought I’d be dead by now and it is quite surprising how that has turned around. Quite recently, I might add and honestly it’s so much easier to get along with you when i’m drunk”. The bard picks up his lute and starts to pick the strings gently and with precision, although fumbling on a couple of notes as the spirits he’s been drinking go to his head. “Fuck, this shit used to be easy”
Nodding in amused agreement, the mage lifted her cup a bit in a silent toast to the sentiment, before she took a little drink. “What can I say, bard? I’m full of surprises.”
She watched him play with the instrument, snorting a little laugh each time he messed up the notes. She knew he was talented at it, even if she would never tell him as much. “So much for being a professional. Or maybe you simply cant handle your liquor.” She was teasing, but she wasn’t really one to talk as she could barely handle it herself. “Are you going to make everyone suffer through another tune, or are you feeling merciful on my ears?”

How long have you been in Sallow Hills?

y | That's none of your business. I have Ciri and Geralt, and that's what matters.
Would you ever want to leave?
y | Easily, yes.
How would you describe your satisfaction with the town itself?
y | Its alright. There's nothing remarkable about this place that I haven't seen a million other human settlements do before
Any other comments, questions, or other tidbits you would like to add?
y | You all are so nosy, and I would appreciate if you kept your noses out of my business in the future.
⌘ Follow Up Questionnaire of Midna Twili⌘
Restate your name and living situation.
midna | Midna Twili. I live in an townhouse on Duffryn Way on my own.
How long have you been in Sallow Hills?
m | I’ve been here for four-ish months-- since February.
How well would you say you are handling your homesickness?
m | I’m not particularly homesick at all. I miss my people, of course, but this place is much more exciting and freeing than the Twilight often allowed me to be. Besides, Link is here, and that helps quell any of the nerves.
Would you ever want to leave?
m | I’m not sure. I don’t want to leave Link and Zelda behind again. They’re my best friends.
How would you describe your satisfaction with the town itself?
m | Its a fine place. Not my first choice, but its decent enough. I do wish there were more fun things to do around here, though. You spook one resident, you’ve spooked them all, ya know?
Any other comments, questions, or other tidbits you would like to add?
m | Nope! I really don’t have the time to waste thinking of bs to add to your little question packet.

MERLIN COULD UNDERSTAND THAT . he’d often been dragged away from what he was supposed to be doing because he got distracted by a creature or flower or even just a tug in his powers . It’d let to some nasty shit sometimes - someone getting hurt , him getting kidnapped , you name it . But he’d found incredible things because of it too . He’d found places where magick flourish and bled from the earth itself , where animals moved with freedom and ease , where flowers bloomed in the dead of winter .
EY SHRUGGED , letting themself debate the words . ❝ I suppose you could call it an escape attempt . I couldn’t sleep , so I decided a walk out here might calm my mind enough . ❞ It might make him forget all the memories that weighed on em , that kept sleep away on nights like this . ❝ I know this probably isn’t the smartest place to walk around especially at night but … ❞ Ey shrugged . Magick was common here in Sallow Hills , but he wasn’t sure if someone else would understand why he was so drawn to the woods . There was a magick here that called to em , that begged them to come out and be amongst it . It was a magick unlike most that ey had felt and seen over the years , built so fully on chaos . ❝ I’m Merlin , by the way , ❞ ey hold their hand out for her to shake . ❝ What brings you out here ? ❞
Midna dispelled his comment about the safety of the forest with a wave of her hand. She wasn’t too concerned with such things. If anything happened, she would simply cross that bridge when she got to it. She had always been a more ‘live in the moment’ type of person, after all.
“I’ve always liked a bit of excitement, but I haven’t run into much trouble so far. I’ve had many people warn me how dangerous this place is, I’ve lost count.” The woman moved to shake Merlin’s hand. She had a good handshake. How could she not after years of lessons and even more years putting it into practice in court? A queen had to have a good handshake. If it weren’t, what would that say about the person behind it? “Midna. Pleasure to meet you, Merlin.”
She smiled at em as she let go of eir hand. Midna tried to think of a good explanation for what she was doing. It was a bit hard to put into words even to herself. “I suppose I’m just mulling a few things over. Lots to think about. The forest has been the best place for me to do that since I got here. It's the closest I can get to home. Besides, it's a beautiful night.”

Did it leave a sour taste in his mouth when she made that comment about kissing? Of course it did. But it really shouldn’t because she wasn’t his. He had Louisa so why was he standing here feeling jealous over the thought of Yennefer kissing other people? Pathetic, if you ask him. He had no right to act any kind of way around her, he didn’t even remember her. So he had to swallow it down.
“Well it’s nice to know that I am special”
He told her, flashing her a soft smile. When he was about to speak once again, he felt the buzzing of his phone. As he grabbed his phone and looked at the screen, it was like cold water was thrown all over him. Louisa. Of course it was. “Ehm well.. it was nice seeing you”
He would always be special to her-- even if he didn’t know her name, or if he was old and rotten, or if he never wanted to see her again. Destiny or no, he would always be special.
Turn and walk away, Yennefer.
She opened her mouth to speak, but he checked his phone, and she knew enough not to. Her eyes narrowed momentarily, then she looked off.
Turn and walk.
“I suppose... Well, I suppose it was nice to see you, too.” Her words, stiff and too big in her mouth. It was a lie, because it hadn’t been nice-- not at all. It had been horrible actually. She wished Geralt was spheres away, toiling over her and Ciri and the bard, because that would be so much easier to bear than this. “Until the next meeting.”
Finally gaining control of her own legs, Yennefer turned, jammed her fists into her coat pockets, and she walked away.

ZSASZ COCKED HIS HEAD SLIGHTLY TO THE SIDE. he took the woman’s words as a compliment, even if he hadn’t been expecting them. ❝I don’t think everyone would agree with you there, but most of them are … stuck up in their ideas and morals. People who are willing to look past that tend to think I’m pretty smart though.❞
HE KNEW HIS STUFF. he knew weapons, he knew how to kill. You could put him in an empty room and he could still come up with three ways to murder someone else. At least. People like Jimbo wouldn’t appreciate that. Or Slim Jim would pretend he didn’t appreciate it because he’s ❛morally❜ ❛superior❜. Whatever that was supposed to mean. ❝ It certainly fits you well. Looks like it was something you were meant to have. And in this town, you can’t ever be too careful when it comes to protecting yourself. Most things take it as a - stay outta my way and I’ll stay outta yours. But sometimes things get weird. ❞

With a small laugh, Yennefer shook her head in amusement, “Yes, well, most people tend not to agree with me on many of my standpoints. No surprise there.”
While she absently examined the other weapons on the table, she thought on his words. How were people here managing to unknowingly spew things that boiled down to be about destiny? Even if it was a figure of speech, Yennefer was starting to hate the idea of ‘meant to be,’ even with something as minute as a blade. It didn’t crush her spirits too much, as she was much too pleased with her find.
His advice made well enough sense; it was similar to how certain cities were back on The Continent. People were still people, after all. Her hands retreated from the weaponry, and fingers tapped against the edge of the counter, “You sound like you speak from experience. What sort of weird?”

Writing down the number into his phone as a new contact, he smiled to himself. Yeah sure he did feel rather stupid asking for her number like that. But it was the only way he could remember her. Because her voice was the most sweetest of sounds and it always made him feel so at peace whenever he had his dreams. And now that he had heard her speak in real life.. yeah he was done for. No one had ever made him feel like this before. No other woman or man. And that was a sign, right?
Looking up just in time to see the sun lower into the horizon, he almost forgot how to breathe. Because the sight before him was more beautiful than any work of art. Her eyes, her hair, her face and her entire being was just so gorgeous. It would bring anyone to their knees, that’s for sure. Maybe she already knew that.
Taking the picture, he then cleared his throat. “Giving people your number or kissing them?” Geralt asked.
One of these days, Yennefer told herself, I’ll learn not to run from my problems. It was all she had ever known to do. The problems of others were easy; the mage had no problems taking a side for the purpose of money or promises. Her own were different.
Amused, she gave a little shake of her head, “Not the kissing. That's commonplace.” A part of her knew that comment would likely spark a bit of jealousy in him. Another part of her liked that. “But I don’t give my number. Or make a fool of myself by crying in the street. Or any of this. I just keep walking.”
Yennefer didn’t know if she actually wanted him to call or not, and even if he did, she didn’t know if she had it in her to answer.
I think I just saw Yennefer Wilczynski (she/they, cis woman, 96). she’s a canon character from the witcher. have you heard she remembers everything from her previous life? she appeared here in may 2021 after attempting to track down her daughter, ciri, and hold off the wild hunt. now she’s working as a customer assistant at the bubbling cauldron. still, she does have that overly confident, bitten lips, mess of dark curls, lilac & gooseberries vibe about her.
