“I do not have any right to say how you feel or dictate the outcome of this situation. But I do have say in my part in this. The last thing I want to do is cause more hurt. I just don’t know what to do because I do not want to torment you with the fact that my memories are not intact. I do not want to look into those gorgeous eyes and see anger and resentment. I don’t want to stay away. I don’t want this to be our first and last encounter in this town. But if needed be, I will at least try to give you the space you need”
That’s all he could do at the moment. Geralt couldn’t give Yennefer empty promises of a better tomorrow when everything was still up in the air. He couldn’t pretend to know what was going on because that would only end up coming back to haunt him. He wished there was a book somewhere that could tell him how to cope with what was currently happening. How to cope with crushing someone’s heart without even trying.
“You have not disturbed me one bit. That kiss? It was glorious” he felt a small smile form on his lips as he nodded. “I just have too much respect for you to kiss you back right now. Once my memories are back I shall give you what you seek”
Yennefer’s gaze finally met his. He was not met with anger or resentment, or anything at all. She wouldn’t let him have the satisfaction of seeing his affect on her, if she could help it. Now that she was collecting herself, it was becoming a little easier. She sighed, dropping her head for a moment to fully collect herself, before picking it back up.
“I don’t need space, and I don’t want it to be our only encounter, either; at least we can agree on that.” Eyes roving his face, Yennefer’s mind was racing as she tried to find an answer for him. She couldn’t give him one. Taking a step back, antsy hands re-tied the belt on her coat, looking for anything else to occupy them beside reaching out to touch him again.
“I’ve been told such things before, but the person saying it is usually much more desperate than you seem to be,” it was a weak attempt at a joke. “Is that a promise, then, witcher?” Yennefer didn’t know what she was supposed to do or say. She didn’t define herself by men, never had, but it was unnerving to think for the first time in over half a century, she didn’t have the safety net of Geralt to fall back on any longer.

OH . oh no . This wasn’t good . Sure , Bill didn’t know the extent of River’s relationship with the Doctor , but considering they were two thousand years old and only had two people’s pictures on their desk , Bill could easily figure that those two were important to them . Really important . And she didn’t remember them . She thought they’d only just met . Oh this was NOT good .
SHE SHOOK HER HEAD . ❝ sorry . maybe i’m confusing you with someone else . It’s just , you look a lot like someone the Doctor has a picture of , but with how weird this town is I could be wrong . ❞ She wasn’t . Especially since River had just confirmed that she was , well , River . ❝ Sorry , you’re probably here for something . The Doctor is out , but maybe I can help ya ? ❞
With a polite smile, River shrugged it off. A case of mistaken identity was no big deal, and that's what this had to be. There was no reason for the Doctor to be talking about her when she wasn’t around. Right? They had just met the other day.
“Not a problem, Bill. I suppose I do have a bit of a familiar face.” River glanced around the shop quickly, trying to identify something to buy to cover for the fact that the whole reason she had come in was to see a person that currently wasn’t here. A bit of disappointment rose in her chest at the lack of the Doctor’s presence, but she shoved it away quickly. Get over yourself, Song. River tucked some hair behind her ear and looked back to Bill. “No need to apologize. I am here for something, so help would be wonderful. This place is a bit of a maze, I’ve noticed.”
River gave a little laugh, and it became increasingly obvious why the Doctor would like her so much. It was a pretty sound that anyone would swear could brighten even the darkest of places. “The other day the Doctor said that there were supposed to be some new paintings and rugs coming in. Have those arrived by chance?”
shallowmagics:
“If he ever gets here, you’re teaching him how to behave around technology . You brought it up, you get to handle him,” Ciri gave a laugh, but it was cut off too short. Being without her parents wasn’t what bothered her. Them having to bury her was what sat heavily in Ciri’s chest, having already come far too close to that fate in the past. She squeezed around Yenn’s hand once, more as a comfort to herself than her mother. “Neither of you will let that happen.”
The bed and breakfast came into view, Ciri leading her mother inside and to the door of her room. She was reluctant to separate contact from Yennefer, but practicality won out as she dug in her gym bag for her key to unlock the door.
The room was plain, pretty in an unoffending, universal sort of way. Thick curtains, light colors, light wood furniture. Ciri dropped her gym bag onto the small bed as she stepped inside, fishing out a slightly larger one to begin placing her meager belongings inside. “You can come in, I won’t be long. I didn’t see the need for much.”
Basic toiletries, a few changes of clothes, everything she had appeared with. Zireael, thankfully, was included with the latter. Leaving Cintra had taught her at least one thing, to pack light. Safety in one place was never a given.
Squeezing the hand in her own, Yennefer shook her head. “No, no we will not. So long as I have my way, and you know I always do, nothings happening to you.” Briefly, the phantom figures of The Hunt crossed her mind, but she dispelled it as fast as it came. They were spheres away, and the pair of them were stuck here. Ciri would be fine.
As she followed Ciri on the way to her room, Yennefer surveyed the people in the bed and breakfast. She liked to see who was where, who they were meeting, and to surmise the why behind it. In short: she was nosy.
When they got up to Ciri’s room, she slipped in when she was directed to. It was much the same as the one she had stayed in upon her own arrival. “When we get back to my flat, we’ll match up our schedules, and find a day where we can go out to the shops to get you some new things.”

River liked her job. She did! Teaching felt like the one thing that was right, where everything else felt all jumbled and out of place to the point it made her head hurt. Though today the students were on an assembly schedule, which meant she got plenty of extra time to herself. She was quite happy with that, as she had fallen behind on grading a stack of quizzes from a few days before.
She had just popped in the break room to grab a bottle of water from the vending machine, when she saw someone she didn’t recognize. For a moment, she thought it was a rogue student, but she quickly caught sight of the visitor’s badge, which is how she figured this woman must be from the group putting the assembly on.
By that point, River had made eye contact, and it would’ve been rude not to say anything. She wasn't a rude person, at least, she didn’t think so. With a smile, she nodded at the woman, “Tea? Don’t go for the green packet. It's nasty stuff,” she said, referring to the communal tray of tea on the counter. “Try the blue instead. It's not the best in the world, but it is here.”

Signing up for a life in the spotlight is never easy. Especially when all you want to do is take photos in beautiful clothes. All Zelda wanted to do was work. They didn’t want to be cornered like this. Yes they did sign up for their face being used in magazines and in fashion shows but what they didn’t sign up for was losing their privacy and their life all together. People put this image on them and it was an image that did not fit in with who Zelda was as a person. And that was the hardest thing to accept.
“Yeah. Being a model is a job that requires me to basically be this perfect little doll that accepts that people corner me when all I wanna do is go and buy some ice cream for me and my boyfriend” rolling their eyes, they then looked at the other. “It’s disheartening really how people forget that I am still human”
There was something familiar in her sentiment. After, well, everything Samwise had been through, too many people knew him- or thought they did- for his liking. They assumed what it had been like, what he had seen, had heard, had lived. They made judgements, and thought they had right to pry in business not of their own. Certainly, it wasn't as intensely evasive as what Zelda described, but he could sympathize.
“That sounds quite disheartening indeed. Some people have no respect, and I’m sorry you have to suffer it.” He had gotten them a table, and ordered the pair of them drinks and something to snack on while they spoke. After a moment, he smiled, wanting to talk about something nicer, “So, boyfriend? Lucky lad to get to be with someone lovely as you. Have you known him long?”

“Two? Oh wow look at you go” Zelda said and giggled. It was good to know that he did have people that he loved. Because she was pretty biased when it came to love. Without Link in her life he didn’t know how much of Hyrule and Sallow she could take. She would have just shut down and walked around an emotionless robot her entire life. Link had been their saving grace time and time again. It felt like whatever life threw their way, they could handle it alongside their blonde hero.
“Oh hold on you need some salt” Trying to stand up, she let out a low whimper and sat down again. Even though she was slowly getting better and stronger, she could still have moments when her body just begged her to sit still or lay in bed. They really did miss going to work and they did miss being able to do all the things they used to do. But now it felt like their life was put on hold all because of the actions of one man.
Looking down on the floor, they cursed under their breath when they felt tears roll down their cheeks. It was just so unfair. And sometimes it became too much for Zelda to handle because this should have never happened.
Zelda's comment made Sam chuckle. He supposed it was a bit amusing to think of. If you would've told him ten years ago that he would have the pair of them in his life like that, he wouldn't have believed you. He was a lucky hobbit, no doubt about it.
“Right, I do-“ he started, yet broke off when he heard the sound they made. “Zelda.”
In a moment, Samwise had set down everything in his hands and was at their side. He wiped the residual moisture from his hands before taking each of her shoulders in his grasp. The look he gave her was one of deep understanding.
He reached and tore a paper towel off of the roll, quickly handing it to her. He used his other hand to lift her chin as a parent would their child. That's when the realization suddenly hit him, the understanding of exactly why he was so concerned for this woman. For some inexplicable reason, she had made her way into his heart like that. All he could do about it was try and make sure she was alright. He tried for a comforting smile, and hoped it worked. “Deep breaths, that's it. No need for tears now.”
ofmvoonlight:
“Don’t be. I am used to it at this point. Does it suck that I have to get used to not having my freedom? Sure. But this is my life now” Zelda shrugged. It was draining, yes. But to be able to stand in front of the camera and pretend for just a couple of hours, it made everything worth it in the end. Zelda wanted to be a model and she wanted to be pretty big one at that. They wanted to leave an impact in the fashion world. And nothing like that could happen if all she did was stay hidden.
“Oh you are too kind” they blushed and then giggled. “But yes I have known him for many years. It’s actually about damn time me and him are an official couple”
Samwise felt her words ring true for himself. It had taken far too long for him to get the courage to ask Rosie to go out with him, and longer with Frodo. It was sort of strangely comforting to hear that he wasn't alone in that.
“Ah it's not too kind. You deserve the compliment,” with a grin, he took a sip of his cappuccino, making a little bit of a face as the drink burnt his tongue. “You want to tell me about him— and oh, where are my manners, more about yourself?” He asked the question in the way a parent would their child, kind and curious.

Placing a hand on their forehead, Zelda let out a heavy sigh. It had been a long time since they had felt like this. It wasn’t an illness, that she knew. That only specifically happened whenever she stayed away from Link for selfish reasons. No this was something else. The adrenaline was slowly starting to come down which was the main reason as to why it felt like the entire world was spinning around the poor brunette.
Taking a deep breath in an attempt to try and ground herself, they then hummed when they listened to what the stranger was saying. “Mhm yeah some water would be nice. And maybe a bite to eat. It’s been a couple of hours since breakfast” licking their lips, Zelda closed their eyes.

Sam would occasionally get teased by his friends for being ‘such a mother hen,’ but in times like these, he couldn’t find it in himself to care. He was ready to reach out and catch her if she were to faint, but hopefully it would not come to that. The model’s suggestion of food was a good idea by him; he was a hobbit after all, and eating was one of his favorite activities.
“That sounds quite alright with me. Do you want my arm to hang onto while we walk, miss… I’m sorry, I don’t think I caught your name.” he had held out his arm in a polite manner if they decided to accept the offer. He didn’t want to chance them falling down on the way there.
