Oh dear, I do love when a plain character is made into something completely different and interesting.
There's a bit of discourse in the Fandom about Quaritch, and it's valid. Human Quaritch was a monster, evil personified. He was humanity's greed and love of violence in one fleshy package and I honestly hated his character in the first movie.
Na'vi Quaritch is not that monster. He's done some bad shit, let's just acknowledge that right out of the gate, but he's not the Original. Every moment, every chance that the Original would have reveled in the violence and bloodshed, the Na'vi him hesitated and moved away from the worst of it. Sure, he captured Jake and Neytiri's kids multiple times. But the Original probably would have killed at least one each time just to press a point.
He showed Spider kindness and acceptance while the OG would have 1) kept calling him Miles, forced him to cut his hair, and dress 'like his species' and 2) would have allowed him to be tortured without a care. It's even hinted that the OG was... less than pleasant or gentle with baby Spider. Instead, he put his job on the line to protect him, he gave up a significant advantage to protect him, and he listened. The OG would have merked those villages with a smile on his face. The OG would not have wasted a second taming an Ikran properly, learned the Na'vi language more than he had to, would not have adapted to a more Na'vi way of being.
I'm not trying to be an apologist, I'm just coming from the perspective that these are distinct characters. The Na'vi clone is going through that classic clone dilemma of becoming a whole new person despite the original's plans. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the next movies he starts to separate himself from Human Quaritch further, like finding a way to cover the tattoo, or wanting to be called a different name.
I'm probably gonna get sideeyed for this and that's fine, I fully welcome discussions.
I "like" Quaritch, but that's bc I find him interesting for the first time. Idk about y'all, but human Quaritch was just plain; boring, kinda of predictable too but, Recom Quaritch? It feels as if he doesn't know exactly who he is, so he's following the river he has been put on. The whole clone thing, a whole new person, but with someone else's memories, "I'm not that man", thing has potential for a redemption arc where he sacrifices himself at the end. He doesn't give villain vibes anymore. (Plus, I gotta admit his Na'vi form is very attractive)
Lyle can fuck off, still boring af, still the lap dog of Quaritch.
But oh, OH DEAR, Tonowari?? I could make a whole essay over Tonowari. That's my man, he's a five course meal. He's what Jake think he is. Not to mention how good of a chief/husband/dad he is. He's so kind, so soft, and at the same time, very terrifying and intimidating.
This is maybe my last post about it but the fact that y'all fixated on Quaritch and LYLE instead of Tonowari is just. Insane to me.
It is literally a crime that in order to appreciate Bill Hader’s talent and hotness in Trainwreck I have to suffer through Amy Schumer.
As someone who was an angsty and emo teenager in the mid 2000s, my heart is just SOARING seeing the resurgence of the alternative British heartthrobs of the time.
Robertson Pattinson in The Batman? YES
Jamie Campbell Bower in Stranger Things? OMG YES

"this willful teenager has a big heart" "a true Pandoran"
BIG HEART. And for that, he's already 100 better than his father. Human Quaritch would've left him to drown if he had been in Spider's place, but Spider knew better. He's a kid, a neglected one, seeking for being better. Better than death and war itself, better than the sky people who destroy his home.
“Disney overlords.” Oscar Isaac said finnpoe should have been canon fuck Disney
So, you know how many people are in an agreement that Dream and Hob should've met at a ball, instead of their pub, at least once as one of their many dates? Well, consider this
Hob and Dream dancing like that one scene in Enchanted, with So Close by Jon McLaughlin on the back. Hob is singing the lyrics in a whisper, a little out of breath, only for Dream to hear. It's a confession. He doesn't want to cross lines, or piss off his friend who just agreed to meet with him more than once in a hundred years, but at the same time he feels the need to tell him how does he actually feel about him, about their relationship. So, naturally, he sings it for him, even if Dream doesn't catch the hint.
He needs to get it out of his system one way or another.
Little does Hob know that he's daydreaming, too loud for Dream's liking. And Dream might be a little rough on the edges, but he does know how to catch a hint, alongside some pictures straight of Hob's mind. They're smiling to each other, but none of them are ready to say it out loud so they enjoy it. They'll have time to talk about it later.
Leaving the scene in question, so you can cry with me.
And yet people keep calling Spider a traitor, wishing he had died or worse. Quaritch was much more caring over him than the Sullys over all his short life. So yeah, I will defend that kid with all I have, idgaf
I understand that the Sully’s were not equipt to do a rescue but they really said whoops that’s unfortunate and bounced and never mentioned concern for Spider. I’m hoping we will get some deleted scenes released that show a little more care for what happened to Spider from the Sullys?
Nah, just... Just keep doing stuff like this. I love it🌚
Sh*t, I’m doing it again. Stop me someone pls
