my coworkers generally don’t care about current events unless it’s true crime so sometimes i kind of force feed them important information to shift their worldview. there was a beat of silence while i was counting the registers earlier and i turned to my two coworkers and said “did you know the US intentionally killed over 100,000 civilians in afghanistan and repeatedly bombed red cross and UN structures despite being told exactly where they were” and they looked at me like this which is how i know it got thru
ever since thanksgiving i've been completely and helplessly out of drugs and i'm pretty sure it's the worst thing to ever happen to anyone ever
Hello 👋
Please take a moment to read my story.
I am Heba Al-Dahdouh. I currently live in the completely destroyed city of Gaza. Since the war on Gaza began on 7/1/2024, my family- my father Nasif, my mother Asmaa, and my siblings Khaled, Ahmad, Muhammad, and Malak-have been living in constant fear, crying, and suffering due to shrapnel, shells, and bullets.
We have no food, no electricity, no cooking gas, no schools, no homes, no cleaning supplies, and no clothes. Our house was completely destroyed. My school has been bombed, and my brother Khaled's university is now rubble, depriving us all of education. The war has forced us to live in displacement centers, which are just tents unsuitable for living, especially in winter.
Every day we live death, terror, and panic a thousand times because of the ongoing bombardment of my city. The war has killed more than 50 of my relatives and neighbors. At the start of the war, we sought refuge at my aunt's house, but it too became rubble. Imagine: we have survived imminent death more than 20 times and have been displaced among shelters more than 13 times. My siblings and I have suffered from many illnesses due to malnutrition, and we need medication continuously.
If we stay in Gaza, we might lose our lives. Recently, we have been seriously considering leaving Gaza for a safe place. However, travel costs are extremely high. We need over $50,000 to leave Gaza. Due to exorbitant prices, rampant unemployment, lack of security, the ongoing siege, and relentless bombardment, we have lost all our money. How can we live in such insecurity, with constant shelling and shrapnel flying above us? Dear compassionate friends around the world,
With your generous donations, even if small, you can save 7 people from imminent death, allowing us to start a life outside Gaza filled with love, peace, and hope.
With my warmest regards from the city of Gaza,
Heba Al-Dahdouh.
shout out to the giant worm in the center of the earth. thank you for never surfacing 🙏 we appreciate you. have fun in the lower crusts
Stupid homunculus fell apart after one lip kiss. Oh well. He will be reduced to slag.
what’s your opinion on nihilism
Baby's first atheistic philosophy. Built for edgy teens who had their first introspective thought a week ago. The problem is, people use the term nihilism to justify being lazy with their own beliefs - that's why u get a lotta dummies claiming they're nihilist, despite doing zero research on what it actually means to practice that philosophy (which is a lot more neutral on things than pessimistic)
Just because you gave up believing in a religion doesn't mean that you should simply stop growing either. The "I don't believe in God"-part of your worldview is the least interesting part, and it's not the finish line, that's the fucking start. Now you gotta figure out WHY things matter -- despite God, despite 'floating on a rock in the middle of nothingness' -- that's when you've put in enough effort to reflect on yourself, and not a moment before.
I think there are far more constructive philosophies out there that explore how life really operates besides nihilism. Just because we're 'floating on a speck' doesn't means shit, it's not like you nor I in our day-to-day lives can even recognize that we're floating on a speck, so it naturally doesn't matter to our daily lives, our cultures, our ethics, or anything, really.
just cast the fire spell. dip shit
it's fucking insane that we have a whole system of national and international charities and NGOs and government bodies and treaty organisations all devoting themselves to children's rights work while simultaneously being completely unwilling to name the problems they're fighting against.
imagine if every feminist organisation on Earth was unwilling to say the word "misogyny". imagine if the NAACP refused to address racism. that's what it's like.
everyone from the Children's Commissioner for Wales to fucking UNICEF is out here like "we are here to protect children from harm" and won't say the words "adultism" or "ageism".
they run campaigns to get children's rights taught in schools and deliberately never talk about the fact that the reason schools aren't already doing that is because authoritarian institutions have a vested interest in people not knowing their rights.
they petition governments to outlaw beating children and then spend half their public messaging falling over themselves to apologise to parents for implying they might be doing something wrong instead of saying "yeah, actually, we have a problem of systemic parental violence against children and parents who commit and defend that violence are, in fact, the enemy."
it's like they think children's rights and dignity are threatened by some unknowable force of the universe at large instead of by observable systems of power and privilege perpetuated by actual real-life people. and anyone who notices this ends up going crazy feeling like the guy who got out of Plato's cave but couldn't convince anyone else the shadows weren't reality.
basically my position is that landlords should die until my siblings aren't forced into soliciting donations online for basic necessities like food and shelter and medicine. i do not consider this any more extreme than the popular position that poor people should suffer and die en masse so landlords can keep getting paid for doing fucking nothing.
