Little snippet from a new poster series that I'm wrapping up called SIx Shapes 6 Things. Stay tuned for the prints.
Bird 8: American Crow
Many birds very common to New York fall into the recognized nuisance category. These birds, like the pigeon, the sparrow and the gull, are at times nearly invisible to the average person. Many of us only notice these common birds when they are actively in our way or bothering us in some way. Studying and drawing these birds in great detail has given me a greater respect for them - probably the feeling I had when I was younger and didn’t have any bird-stories yet; about how this one did this yucky thing, or wouldn’t move because it’s superdumb. They really are pretty incredible, even the American Crow, the dogged black sheep of the bird world. This marks the half way point for the Common Birds of Brooklyn poster. Phew, more to come.
Graphic Booklet: Rough Pages
The comic I’ve been working on is now completely written and roughly drawn/laid out. Here are two rough pages. The paper I used for the rough version is so thin I can erase from the other side of the page. This stems for a long-standing issue with commitment and drawings being worth good paper or not. Suffice to say, I’ll get over it for the final and get some non tissue paper. Expecting the whole thang to be complete by the end of the month!
Batman Moods: Heartbreak
About a year ago, I did a one-off drawing of Batman. I really liked it and only recently realized I could do more if I wanted! So, this will mark the reboot/kickstart of the Batman Moods series. First up, a broken hearted Dark Knight. Bruce Wayne seems like a tough playboy with stuff figured out, but you know that guy must have gotten his gut busted by a batlady at some point.
Oye
Been mega busy with works but this one slipped out in all the pixel work I’ve been doing.
Season 3 Episode 7 in which a quadruple amputee uses astral projection... to kill.
This is part of an ongoing project to catalogue the villains from the television series X Files. Check out the others here!
Bird 11: Yellow-rumped Warbler
This is a fun bird that you see pretty often. The "yellow-rumped warbler" category is often used to generally classify a group of four different warbler varieties, if you needed to know that. This is one of the cute ones. I have the Birds of Brooklyn poster nearly all laid out with type and everything. Should be rolling it out real soon.
File Under Fine Art: What is Nudity?
Pardon my absence the past week. I have been in Florida where it snows never, shines stronger sun, and offers communities single, double, even triple gated for your safe retirement. But upon my return, New York proved to me once again why it is great: The Armory Show Modern. Some great work from artists all over and in such a monstrous locale it took hours to get through. I imagined many of the attendants of this contemporary art show having the below conversation.
