I saw a post with someone wondering why sokka wanted to borrow momo for a week after katara and zuko take off on appa in the southern riders, and I got to thinking that's a really interesting scene, because you see sokka looks worried about katara and what she might do and he's probably hurt about what she said to him about their mother and he still feels the need to cover it all up with a fucking joke, even with only aang present
yes! notice how after katara says “then you didn’t love her the way i did!” sokka looks hurt and goes quiet for the rest of these interactions.
katara………..
(upon hearing zuko say “[forgiveness] is the same as doing nothing!”)
unlike katara and zuko (who are two little rage demons) sokka doesn’t want to make his emotions anyone else’s problem. in the scenes prior, when sokka is telling zuko about the day his mother died, he seems deeply hurt, but immediately represses that shit the second zuko leaves the tent.
sokka is willing to oblige by providing all the necessary details for zuko to bond with katara, and it is clearly hard for him to talk about, but the second he’s given zuko the necessary information, he is done talking and kicks zuko out immediately, and switches his brain once more into “a moste romantique evening w/ suki” mode.
sokka is clearly going through some heavy shit in this episode, but because it’s never actually communicated, you could easily miss it considering everything else that’s going on.
(lol he’s so done with katara here)
other than his tone of voice, body language, and most crucially, the way in which he immediately deflects so that he and aang don’t have to actually sit in this deeply emotional conflict, sokka tries to go about business as usual.
here he is clearly wistful…
and promptly immediately covers up his feelings in 3…2…1…
sokka could probably get his arm cut off and he’d be like
king of repression! 👑✊🏼 #relatable #tfw #mood
Day 27: botanical
I tried pixel art for this one. I think baby Leo is very cute lol
Donnie and Mikey being affectionate and cute (P2) 💜🧡
Ya for sure
A reformed villain becoming the protagonist’s protective older sibling is infinitely better than them becoming the protagonist’s love interest and you can’t change my mind
i used to hope that Sokka eventually was able to get space sword back, but more and more recently i have comforted myself with the thought that maybe through stories told and spread and passed down through generations, Sokka’s sword became somewhat of a legend, that there would be talk of a Great Sword from Another Earth that belonged to a powerful nonbender who helped the Avatar defeat the Fire Lord and bring an end to the Hundred Year War, and that if a nonbender were to find the sword and be deemed worthy to wield it by the spirit of its creator, they would be gifted with Sokka’s bravery and skill and wit!!, perhaps be destined to fight side by side with the newest Avatar. and, you know, maybe there’s a certain power in legends and storytelling too, and through spirity magicky stuff that would have made Sokka cross his arms and argue about how there’s no scientific reasoning to support it, the legend would come true after all
Avatar: The Last Airbender | 1.02 - “The Avatar Returns”
that’s it. that’s the show
are you guys ever gonna get tired of calling neurodivergent coded characters dumb or
y’all will see a character that has a short attention span, disorganized, seeks attention through making themselves the butt of jokes/”class clown” and be like wow what a dumb fucking stupid idiot bitch. how do they even tie their shoes in the morning. i bet they fucking faceplant into doors every day because they’re too dumb to know what a handle is.
They’re having the water is/is not wet debate
Sokka isn't "high intelligence low wisdom", he's an adhd genius
