i used to hope that Sokka eventually was able to get space sword back, but more and more recently i have comforted myself with the thought that maybe through stories told and spread and passed down through generations, Sokka’s sword became somewhat of a legend, that there would be talk of a Great Sword from Another Earth that belonged to a powerful nonbender who helped the Avatar defeat the Fire Lord and bring an end to the Hundred Year War, and that if a nonbender were to find the sword and be deemed worthy to wield it by the spirit of its creator, they would be gifted with Sokka’s bravery and skill and wit!!, perhaps be destined to fight side by side with the newest Avatar. and, you know, maybe there’s a certain power in legends and storytelling too, and through spirity magicky stuff that would have made Sokka cross his arms and argue about how there’s no scientific reasoning to support it, the legend would come true after all
A hoodie that I desperately need of ice cream kitty, but since I can’t have it I gave it to Mikey :3
it is unfortunate that ppl seem to ignore what a miserable grumpy little asshole sokka is because I personally think it is one of his very most endearing qualities
Shinsou and Kaminari ☆ Boku no Hero Academia ep. 91
ik this has been said countless times before, but i lose my marbles whenever i think about sokka slowly realizing that he doesn’t have to protect everyone all the time. sometimes he can let other people take watch out for him too!!
there was never really anyone to protect sokka growing up. all the other men had to fight in the war, and his mother was killed by the fire nation. my dude had to protect his entire village! and he let himself down when his girlfriend turned into the moon spirit when his only job was to protect her!
but all those scenes where sokka lets slowly suki protect him...
and he starts to open up to toph and zuko...
he feels awkward abt it but my heart melts every time sokka remembers that he isn’t actually ISN’T totally alone and sacrificeable. he’s allowed to be vulnerable. he’s isn’t just valued as a warrior, as a protector, but as a person! as a friend! even just a lovable-ass idiot!
throughout the series, sokka realizes that he’s LOVED by people other than katara obviously and he cherishes it. and his journey from Lonely Warrior to Cherished Friend absolutely obliterates me. every. single. time.
i find it both incredibly funny and endearing that mikey holds onto his big brother when he’s nervous, and don’s immediate reaction to danger is to get mikey out of sight.
hey, i was wondering if you had any thoughts about sokka returning to piandao to continue his training? do you think he does? what does that look like?
considering he only spent a total of 2 days with piandao and sokka is piandao’s favorite human ever to walk this earth apparently, i’m sure they’d reunite at some point, and sooner rather than later (other than at the white lotus encampment, i mean). i’m sure they would continue training (swordsmanship, painting, calligraphy, etc), maybe play pai sho together, and gossip about the (other) members of the white lotus. i think their relationship would eventually evolve past student + master, cause if sokka was able to achieve that much after a day it probably wouldn’t take long for piandao to be like “i have nothing more to teach you.” of course, they remain lifelong friends (he’s not sokka’s first weirdly older friend, and he won’t be his last. it’s cause sokka has grandpa energy). not to mention they see each other regularly at white lotus meetings. and when piandao dies, he leaves everything to sokka.
