My thoughts on the line up for Jade’s hometown event:
Why would they add in Rook and Riddle when they’ve already been in a wedding event? I guess Riddle is connected to Floyd (who might I remind is NOT the focus of the event) and Rook constantly romanticizes things so weddings are kinda in his wheelhouse, but, they don’t need this!
So, after going over the characters, here’s my thoughts on who would stand in for Rook and Riddle instead!
First off, I immediately got rid of Ortho. Nothing against Ortho, ofc! I just don’t want Twst to disappoint me. I personally headcanon Ortho to be both transfem and physically 16 post book 6 (or more accurately, post Fairy Gala, but the events aren’t entirely canon) so if she were to be there, I would just be unhappy and so I think I’ll save wedding event gear Ortho for my own mind
Second, obviously Azul and Floyd aren’t coming. I understand wanting both twins to be there, but hometown events only really focus on ONE person from that area, so even if multiple characters are from the same town, then only one of them gets the focus. This is scene most clearly in Jamil’s hometown event, where even though the whole reason why everyone is there in the first place is Kalim, Kalim has barely any focus in the event at all, not even getting his own costume change and staying in his dorm uniform
(Side tangent, I remember when we first saw the Tangled event cards and everyone thought it would be a Riddle hometown event, and if it was, then it would have been SUCH a clever way of finding a solution to the problem of multiple characters having the same hometown. We could have actually gone somewhere new, fleshed out the world a bit, met one of Riddle’s parents etc. without actually going to his hometown, so later down the line Trey could have a focus event and we could probably meet one of his siblings (since the manga gives us designs for his parents) It could have been so clever!! But nope! NRC lore and role playing Tangled during the shortest event instead! I don’t accept it as canon, even more so than events usually are, because a hometown styled event would have been the much better option!)
Onto my actual picks! Vil! The main reason I chose him was because 2/3 of Pomefiore already have a wedding themed outfit, so I thought it would be fun to complete the trio lol. Also, he could fill a similar role to Riddle being more on the reluctant and stricter side of things. I could see Jade doing something similar to Vil as he did to Riddle to convince him to come, too. Also, like I mentioned, Riddle is closer connected to Floyd out of twins most often. Though I guess Riddle is connected to the entire octatrio, being classmates with Jade, going through book 6 with Azul, and Floyd always teasing Riddle. But yeah, Riddle’s already been used in a wedding event so get the other queen to go instead. Plus Jade’s dorm vignette is a thing, even if I haven’t read it myself so idk what actually goes on besides Jade getting Vil new shoes so that Vil can sponsor the Mostro Lounge
Now, if part of the reason that I chose Vil was because he was a good stand in for Riddle, then I thought that the fourth character should be someone comparable to Rook. My first thought was Cater, as a wedding seems like something both of them would enjoy being apart of/barring witness to, but then I thought, this is Jade’s event, and Cater and Jade aren’t all that connected. Even if that’s not really an issue with hometown events, I thought that Kalim might make a better fit instead. And, okay, Jade and Kalim aren’t that connected either, but they’re both second years so that counts? Admittedly I just want to put Kalim and Jade in the same room and have them interact. Kalim would also be pretty easy to convince I think and he’d probably really enjoy the party of it all and seeing two people in love with each other be happy
So yeah, that’s my thought process! I think a team of Jade, Malleus, Vil and Kalim could be really fun! Though, putting any of these guys in a room together would be fun lol. Maybe I’ll design outfits for Vil and Kalim later, but I want to know what other people think too. If anyone has any characters they’d want to see in the event, then tell me why them specifically!
While I’m here, I also want to say: I think Azul’s hometown event should be in the actual Coral Sea and not just on the coast of it and we get to meet his mom, and Floyd’s can also be on land and we get to meet Papa Leech. Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk
Hello,,
My name is Ashraf Alanqar, and I am 30 years old. My wife, Widad Issa, and I have a one-and-a-half-year-old son named Bakr. We used to live peacefully in the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood, in a house we built just a week before the war began. I worked as a farmer and owned a large chicken farm that provided for my family.
Beloved of my heart (Bakr)
Then the war came and destroyed everything. Our home was reduced to ashes, and our chicken farm was obliterated. We lost our home, our livelihood, and even our basic rights. We've been forced to move from place to place in northern Gaza, simply trying to survive.
My House before...
Me.. while trying to recognize what has happened..
The terror we feel as we flee from heavy bombardment is unbearable. The sound of explosions around us, the constant fear as we navigate through the rubble of destroyed homes searching for safety and food, haunts us every day. My son Bakr is constantly scared and suffers from severe malnutrition and skin diseases due to the lack of food, water, and sanitation.
Our beautiful memories.. :(
We urgently need your help. I am asking for your support to fund this campaign to move my family to a safe place, provide us with a proper home, and ensure we have enough food, water, and medical care.
Baker used to play with his dog.
Your donation, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in our lives. We desperately need your support and solidarity during this difficult time. Together, we can restore hope and safety to Ashraf and his family.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for considering my plea. Your support means more than words can express. Together, we can turn a story of loss into a journey of hope and resilience.
With deepest gratitude,
Ashraf & the Family
never trust a twst fan who thinks that the root of all Jamil's problem is because of Kalim and only view him as a happy go lucky person

I love female celebrities with no PR training. Speak your fucking truth, diva. PR training is a conspiracy theory to silence women's voices. Anyone who complains about lack of media training hates joy and whimsy.
Hey Raven, do you think Kalim is stupid?
The short answer to this would be “no”, but because I like to overanalyze things, let me explain why. In this essay, I will--
I believe when people think of “stupidity”, they tend to think of it in a sense of general intelligence or book smarts, or they equate it to a number or a letter grade on a report card. In this case, one can easily point to Kalim’s poor academic performance and say, “he doesn’t do well in his classes, and he needs to study and try very hard, plus get help from Jamil, just to get a mediocre grade.” All of that is true. However, to call Kalim “stupid” just because he doesn’t perform well in a traditional classroom setting would be remiss.
The nature of schools hosting many students forces them to standardize lessons and teach them in the same way to large groups. The truth of the matter is, these same methods won’t work for every student. Some just work better one-on-one, and others need more specialized lessons for them to best learn. For example, some people are more visual learners, while others are more auditory, and some just prefer tactile or hands-on learning. Just because Kalim doesn’t fare well with traditional classroom lectures and studying/memorization doesn’t mean other methods wouldn’t work better for him. As was previously mentioned, he seems to do well when Jamil tutors him, so this may hint that Kalim may prefer to be taught in a more personalized setting. We see similar instances of Kalim performing well when instructed one-on-one in Master Chef and when Azul lends him his help in chapter 4. This doesn’t make Kalim “stupid”, it just means he has different preferences when it comes to being taught.
Remember that Kalim hails from a very affluent family. The Asims’ money and power have essentially shielded Kalim from most consequences and other unfortunate circumstances of life. Kalim won’t ever understand what it feels like to have financial struggles, or to go a day hungry. He’s so used to getting everything he wants, and that has made him not stupid, but naïve and ignorant of how the “real world” works. Ignorance is not the same as stupidity. (You can also say that Malleus is ignorant, since his country is very old-fashioned (to the point where he had never ridden a car until the Scalding Sands Fireworks event), but you wouldn’t call Malleus “stupid” for not knowing things that were beyond his circumstances.)
One last point I’d like to make is that while Kalim is not book smart, he is very emotionally intelligent, especially when it comes to dealing with others. For reference, emotional intelligence is defined as “the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically”.
Students in Scarabia love Kalim, and it’s for a good reason. He’s very good at understanding them and empathizing with them, even if he’s laid back as a leader. For example, Kalim was able to talk his dorm mates through bouts of homesickness, and he was always willing to support his dorm mates in their other times of need. Furthermore, it was Kalim who was able to placate his angry dorm mates when they were upset with Jamil post-Overblot. The students were willing to give Jamil a second chance, despite all of the terrible things he did, because Kalim convinced them. Who else would be capable of such a feat, if not him?
This carries over to chapter 5 as well. Kalim becomes aware of his own inadequacy (maybe even jealousy?) when Jamil is picked to be a lead performer for VDC instead of him, and Kalim pushes himself to work harder so he can catch up to Jamil. However, he never stops caring about other people. It’s Kalim and Rook that pep talked Deuce and helped him come to terms with his frustration regarding his lack of improvement. It is also Kalim who initially sensed that Vil was going to attempt something heinous to come out on top at VDC. He came running to the scene and knocked the poison out of Rook’s hand, because he knew that something was wrong just from observing Vil.
We can see several instances of Kalim’s own kind of intelligence, emotional intelligence, especially as he engages with his peers. In conclusion, Kalim may not be the most crafty in a traditional sense, but he has his own insights to contribute, making him fit as the Dorm Leader of Scarabia--the dorm modeled after the deliberation of the Sorcerer of the Sands.
I'm not going to hold your hands when I say this. No, you don't deserve it, I'm going to pull your ears and SHOUT OUT LOUD: I'm TIRED of this fandom being UNABLE to interpret a text.
Kalim doesn't need to become a macho man who protects Jamil from everything, and he's not a "uwu boy" either. No, Kalim is a child who was emotionally neglected by his family, and INFANTILISED by them AND BY JAMIL. Do you know why Kalim is so incompetent? Because even Jamil doesn't let him TRY to act like a person, in the Lab Card he even says that HE CANNOT USE KNIVES TO COOK.
And God, why are we ignoring how much Jamil abused this ignorance? Jamil's outburst was fair, but it EFFECTIVELY makes Kalim act more childish and useless and also cuts away a lot of his own freedom.
Kalim has shown COUNTLESS TIMES, during the events and in the main story, that he is not helpless, stupid or incapable of learning. But it seems that when you see Jamil's point of view, which is not 100% reliable because duh, you completely ignore that Kalim accepted being used by Jamil because he thought it was okay if it was Jamil. You forget how much Kalim was tortured in his childhood, and even though he went through a lot, he is still treated as stupid and imbecile. Kalim is very capable, he improved his magic in a matter of months, he can easily make contacts and has the sense not to reveal who he really is to strangers. Besides, his kindness got many characters out of trouble.
JAMIL'S FANDOM MAKES ME WANT HIM TO DIED HARD AT THIS POINT.
It took Tapis Rouge to remind me that I actually really like Jamil's personality and his interactions.
