Sometimes I want to crawl into stranger's backyards and explore them for their natural wonders that remind me of my grandmother's land that was home to my greatest childhood fantasies.

String arms, strong arms
won’t let you go
Preventing your tea fingers
from crafting love
out of bitter water
Shredded throats speak softly
of my love
But these string arms,
these strong arms
the ones that won’t let you go
grumble loudly against your skin
as if to say,
I won’t let you go again

Here and there one can find
Little puffy streams that spill through the carpet
An indication of seams split, an unknown victim,
Soft piles of proof, a give away
Leading velvet trails twisting toward the culprit
Who is sitting almost expectantly by the window
With a face
Of audacity, or guilt, perhaps both
Beaming from puppy eyes
A single string still dangling from quivering lips
As if to engrave the point

Then one day you wake up
And realize you’re an adult
And you’re rinsing out cans to recycle
Like your father,Â
And you’re rubbing your aching hands
Like your mother,
And days whisk by much too fast
For your liking,
And imagination starts to decay
Like they told you would happen
And you’re stuck in a meaningless job
You were told to acquire, so you
Would have something to do for awhile
Which meant until the life was
Sufficiently beaten out of youÂ
And your will to live was as slim
As the hair on your head, a lost cause
To the society in which you bear
Upon caving shoulders.Â
And before you know it,
The world keeps goingÂ
On and on without you
As you lie still in the box you spent
The last few pennies you earned on,
Not even allowed to squirm around
And tell if it was worth it.

Last night
The wind
Took my chair
Much to my
Displeasure
But the chair
Didn’t care
As it floated
Away, miles
From the stoop
From which
It had come
Snatched and
Stolen by
Nature, and
Flung down
The street
An adventure
For plastic
And bolts

Stagnant kisses linger longer
High and bright on movie screens
Glassy eyes in jars, and secret scars
Blushing vibrant blues and greens
Here lies scattered static stillness
Where dullness drizzles to the bone
Dreams catch and crush lonely reality
The world of which is home sweet home
Fear flies fondly from my throat
A soft, strange sister speaks to me,
Beyond beginning and breathing, will be
Always another adverse anxiety
