March 4, 2015 - One of the first poems I’ve written!
I’m from half built tree houses
And vicious snow ball fights.
The one who gets to the sled first wins,
And the blasting of music to strangers.
I’ve seen the top of mountains
And felt the bottom of rivers.
Screaming, “MARK!” at signs, and
“Fluffy!” at strangers.
The bruise on the thigh that will never heal
And the obnoxious air that fills the place.
The crushing trees that are in it for blood
To the cat stuffed in a wooden box in the basement.
I’m from the alarms and the gummy bear stuck on the fan.
Haunted radios and jello in the fridge.
From knowing what I’m saying when I’m not saying much
To the rabbit foot key chain in the old rotten box.
I’m from the snapped and twisted,
The stubbed and burned,
Leafing and dead family tree,
That I am proud to call my own.

Exciting news, folks! 🚀
I'm thrilled to announce that my first official poetry book ✨All American Waste✨will be launching on April 4, 2024 on Amazon! Just in time for #poetrymonth and #indieapril 🤍
A little about the book...
"All American Waste is a collection of poetry that you won't be able to put your finger on! Focusing on the struggles of being a young adult in America, and the seemingly futile search to find what is left of the 'American Dream,' the poems within the pages dance from relatable to powerful, and powerful to bizarre. They put the spotlight on the mundanity of everyday life, the importance of mental health, and the beauty of our fragile environment. There is truly a poem for every person in this book!"

Last night
The wind
Took my chair
Much to my
Displeasure
But the chair
Didn’t care
As it floated
Away, miles
From the stoop
From which
It had come
Snatched and
Stolen by
Nature, and
Flung down
The street
An adventure
For plastic
And bolts

Drizzle
Long detested by most,
The drizzle comes down
Upon the once sun soaked
Town amidst Spring Cleaning.
To me a baptism, to drench
Summer into submission,
The perfect waiting game,
As Summer can push and prod
Impatient and imperious
To make frost heaved asphalt
Sizzle and deflate, shimmer
And expel Winter treasure.
The feathered rain remains
Spring’s single defense
Against her fast-paced sibling
Dousing the region in dampness
One half expects a billow of steam
To blanket and clog terrain
Instead clouds collect cotton
Tempered trails of mist
And the cool cloth of condensation
Insists that we revitalize Winter
For one last day.

A mastered voice is not unlike
A well tuned, polished instrument
That can captivate the mind
As well as the world
And yet,
My mouth falls open
And out tumbles a nasally
Screech that I feel I should
Apologize for, should I?
Words trip and stutter their way
Through tense teeth
Out into the world
To be heard, judged
And stranded forever
In the cold air
Keeping you waiting as I gag
On my own thought
Steam billows from hot ears
As I regain my verbal footing
And tentatively try again,
Cheeks burning alive
My trepid tongue
My own worst enemy.
