It's A Little Snowflake Sprite!

It's a little snowflake sprite!

I desperately want it to snow, and would like to inspire a little mythical assistance.

I Want To Watch The Sun Set On Mars With You.

I want to watch the sun set on Mars with you.

A little warm-up piece inspired by NASA's Mars Exploration Rover, Spirit's photos, which are just incredibly moving, right?

Illustration For Nautilus On The Migration Of Waldrapp Ibises. This Was For Their 3rd Issue, In Transit,

Illustration for Nautilus on the migration of Waldrapp ibises. This was for their 3rd issue, In Transit, though it was pulled from their online issue at the last minute. It'll be appearing in a second print run of "In Transit" however, so that's less of a shame. It was great to work with Len Small, and if you haven't checked out Nautilus yet, go do that!

Waldrapp ibises are so ugly ♡

The Cosmic Shroud

The Cosmic Shroud

This is The Cosmic Shroud. I created him for Rotopol's Super Villains exhibit opening November 25 in Kassel, Germany. There are tons of really excellent artists taking part including Hellen Jo and Victo Ngai. This was a lot of fun, and I was so happy to be invited to take part. I wish I could be at the opening! Check out Rotopol's site here for more details.

Here's my little backstory on the Shroud (warning - real nerdy):

The Cosmic Shroud burst from the shadow of a lunar eclipse, and roams the galaxy compressing matter into singularities for absorption. It hunts anything from space-traveling heroes, to satellites and space stations. It must encircle its victims with its shroud in order to compress them however, so the larger the target, the longer it takes the Cosmic Shroud to unfurl and bind. If you're quick enough, you can escape it, but as yet nothing has successfully defeated this villain. Missiles and beams alike pass through it, and it can't be contained any more than a shadow can. If spotted, avoid at all costs.

Here’s A New Piece For The December Issue Of AiCIO About Partnership And The Sharing Of Technology

Here’s a new piece for the December issue of aiCIO about partnership and the sharing of technology and knowledge. Thanks to AD SooJin Buzelli for letting me wax cyberpunk on this one. Check out the article online here.

While you’re doing that, I’ll just be over here re-reading Neuromancer…

Burrows

This is a repeat post from my other blog, but I thought this little guy could show off over here!  I think this may be my favorite thing I've ever drawn, ever.  Sometimes the simplest things just sing to me.  I made it into a pattern and am picturing a community of fox burrows under the snow.  That's a little too sweet, kinda sugary...but maybe that's appropriate?  I would love to print this on fabric!  Wouldn't it look great on a set of kids' sheets or a kids' throw blanket?  Now who wants to sponsor that project...

Sometimes The Little Odds And Ends From Demos I Give In My Digital Illustration Class Result In Halfway-decent

Sometimes the little odds and ends from demos I give in my Digital Illustration class result in halfway-decent miniature drawings. Other times they are doofus beavers I guess.

(this was a request from my darling students so I refuse to be wholly blamed!)
