Ingredients:
(basically whatever things you associate with comfort, homeliness, cosiness etc. Use herbs that are already dried. Also pick thinks that smell nice!) I used:
sage
basil
oregano
lavender
rosemary
lavender essential oil
anise essential oil
rosemary essential oil
salt (pink Himilayan salt would work awesome)
cinnamon stick
a rich coloured ribbon to tie around the top
Method:
start with yourself, your room and your tools already cleansed
add your ingredients to the jar, starting with herbs first and adding your essential oils (~5 drops of each) to this, then mix together
use whole stems of dried herbs for added visual interest in your jar
charge with a piece of selenite, your wand or athame - setting your intent whilst you do this. For instance “my home will be filled with comforting vibes”
finish off the spell by tying a rich or darkly coloured ribbon around the neck of the jar
place on a window sill, above a radiator, or by a doorway and allow the smell to gently imbue your room for a few weeks! To extend it’s ‘shelf-life’, keep it charged with a piece of selenite and add more drops of essential oils as necessary.
(you could change the size of your jar, add stones or pieces of wood, anything you like really!)
I always thought it was a shame to add such delightful smelling ingredients to a jar, and then seal it so that they can’t get out. So, for some spells where it makes sense for the energies of the spell to disperse over time. An open jar is perfect for these types of spells as it leaves the lovely scents and the energies to freely imbue the room over a few weeks.
In The Last Unicorn, our main protagonist does not feel love or grieve the same way that humans do. This mostly serves as a strength to her, as she can get through obstacles without those types of emotions clouding her judgment. However, after spending time as a human and falling in love with Prince Lir, love and grief become strengths to her. It is only after the Red Bull threatens Lir's life that she gains the courage to stand up to the beast and free her brothers and sisters who have been imprisoned in the sea.
Unicorns have been on my mind lately. I had an older sister who is no longer with me who adored unicorns, and since experiencing the loss of my little chihuahua mix, they've been appearing everywhere to me. I'm going with my gut and taking it as a sign that I should be incorporating unicorn myths and folklore into my practice, so I decided to take this theme from one of my favorite movies and make something with it.
Love can be a strength or a weakness depending on the situation. If we let it cloud our judgment and ignore the red flags of a person or a situation, we fall into dangerous territory. We could let down our guard and weaken our boundaries which makes us vulnerable to manipulation. However, love can also be a strength. Love can give us the courage to fight when we feel all hope is lost. Love can give us the bravery we need to protect the people in our lives who need it most. This sigil is meant to be used to allow us to use our love as a strength. Use it to prevent toxic people from taking advantage of your kindness and to prevent yourself from seeing the warning signs of terrible people. You can also use it for situations where you will need extra strength to help those you love who are in need.

slightly adapted from samra haksever, author of mama moon’s book of magic, but is mostly the same. includes quotes from her book in the steps for how to create the jar
not my gif
this spell jar is best crafted on a Sunday, when you can channel the energy of the day, and look back on your achievements of the past week.
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
7 small strips of paper
a pen
a mason jar, or a jar of similar size
2-3 cinnamon sticks
a pinch of patchouli, but i used rosemary
a magnet or lodestone crystal
orange or white wax (optional)
the cinnamon brings your happiness blessings, and the magnet and patchouli draw many more of these good things to you.
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
“on each piece of paper, write down something that has made you happy over the past week; this is the time to celebrate anything and everything, from seeing a cute dog in the park and treating yourself to a cup of coffee on your commute, to taking an afternoon nap.
“fold the papers up, put them in the jar with the cinnamon sticks, patchouli/rosemary and magnet, then place the jar on a windowsill that gets plenty of sunlight.”
“optional, seal with orange or white wax. if you decide not to seal the jar, add to it as and when, or even try to make it a Sunday ritual.”
Simple good luck charm you can carry with you!
Needed:
small bag or pouch
bay leaf
clove
rosemary
permanent marker
sandalwood incense
🍀Start by lighting the incense and cleansing the area.
🍀Take your bay leaf and draw the above good luck sigil on top of it (use whatever method you feel is necessary to charge the sigil).
🍀Place the herbs and the bay leaf in the pouch and focus your intentions.
🍀Hold the bag above the sandalwood incense to cleanse and charge.
🍀When you feel the bag is charged enough, seal it up and carry it with you! When you feel the charge getting low, just hold it above some sandalwood incense and focus your intentions to charge it again.
🌑New Moon🌑
A new moon ritual doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated. The candles weren’t even necessary, I just happened to have them.
Get a pen, and two slips of paper.
On one, write down everything you’d like to release.
On the other, everything you’d like to invite (usually the opposite of what you release but it can be something else).
You can burn candles if you like.
When you’re done, dispose of the releasing list.
workplace witchcraft - memory and awareness
lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m losing my mind at work, like forgetting tasks that my manager asked me to do, etc, and it’s been pretty overwhelming and draining on my self confidence (it’s even followed me into anxiety dreams where all I do is forget simple things at work!)
I decided to make a little spell jar to give my memory and awareness an extra boost!
rosemary - for mental clarity and performance
dandelion seeds - for effortlessness and lightness of heart
ginger powder - for healing and alertness
red pepper flakes - for intensity and energy
bit of chili powder - for an extra kick in my ass!
sealed with red wax, for strength, power, and confidence :)
Write directly on object or write on piece of paper and place on/in object!
As someone who suffers from mental health issues, I often need reassurance to help me push forward. This spell combines advice from my doctor on how to heal from past trauma or troubles, and fill yourself with love.
(side note: no spell or magick can replace a doctor. A doctor should be your very first step for any physical or non-physical healing. This spell is only an additional supplement and may not be right for everyone.)
✨ Bottle
✨ White Candle (for peace)
✨ Paper & Pen
✨ Obsidian (to dispel negative energy)
✨ Citrine (for healing)
(side note: if you prefer not to use citrine because it is heat treated amethyst that is fine. Amethyst can be substituted in for it’s calming abilities)
✨ Salt (for protection)
✨ Basil (for love and protection)
✨ Parsley (for Love and Protection)
✨ Rosemary (for healing)
✨ Thyme (for healing)
✨ Turmeric (for purification)
✨ Begin by grabbing your pen, paper, and obsidian. Hold the obsidian in your hand as you think of a phrase of protection. Mine was, “I am safe, there is no pain here.”
✨ With the obsidian in your hand write the phrase on the paper. Let the energy from your obsidian dispel any negative thought. When your finished roll it into a size that will fit into your bottle.
✨ Prepare your other ingredients. Let each herb touch the citrine. Let them absorb citrine’s healing power.
✨ Layer in your salt, basil, parsley, rosemary, thyme, and turmeric into the bottle. Somewhere halfway through place your rolled note into the bottle and let it be covered.
✨ Close your bottle and light a white candle. Gently wave your bottle of the smoke for purification, then use the melted wax to seal your bottle.
Keep the finished spell bottle somewhere you can easily and quickly find it. On it’s own in will fill whatever room or space it’s placed in with positive energy.
Whenever you feel extra anxious or upset grab the bottle and hold it in your hands. Repeat the phrase written inside the bottle, while breathing deeply. Let the phrase and the love from the bottle lift you up.
Repeat as often as needed.
