ikr! this is so precious đ I totally agree @rafedane
june 8: remember me for centuries
i knew, the second he held my arm for the first time. the second his skin touched mine. once it sunk in, i almost laughed out loud right there in front of him. i could hear my sister's mocking voice in my head, "you hopeless homosexual, of course this would happen to you!"
he's not mine. but he used to be. years and years ago, centuries even. he saved my life once.
and i remember it clear as day.
he was the son of the emperor, famed and feared all across the land, respected and revered even by the people he set out to conquer. arms strong from wielding his weapons, hands rough from holding his horse's reins. but so gentle when he needed to be. i can almost feel the brush of his fingertips across my cheek.Â
my sister snaps in front of my face. asks me what i'm daydreaming about. i shake my head. i don't answer.Â
and who was i? the son of a disgraced general, made to fight in the army as part of my reparations to the royal family, and to shadow the prince as his guard; though i'm sure when they assigned me, they didn't think things through. they must have been prepared to kill me in the event that i betrayed the empire.Â
how could they have known their greatest enemy would be love?
but he was mine. his soft eyes and rare smile, the spot on the back of his neck that was so, so sensitive. they were mine. the confusion and terror on his face that night as he realized i couldn't swim. the relief, the desperation in his lips against mine after he dragged me ashore. all mine.Â
and here he stands today, a face so similar, so different. so close, and so far. i have a hundred reasons to love him, and one reason i can't. he loves someone else now. a woman.Â
who would believe me, anyway?
â and so the empire fell to the lovers' fate

'pride 2023: colours of the shadows' pinned.
When the Hero regained consciousness, they were very surprised for a couple of reasons. One- they weren't supposed to open their eyes again, they were supposed to be dead, and the cause of death would be 'choked by the Villain's sturdy hands'; two- their treacherous heart just wouldn't shut up, way too excited at the possibility that maybe, just maybe, this villain wasn't really as bad as they portrayed themselves to be (and would somehow magically turn into one of the villain personalities whom the Hero swooned over almost everyday on their smartphone) and three- they were currently tied up in some abandoned warehouse and the rough ropes were hurting their wrist.
It seemed like they had made enough noise waking up, because a shadow was walking towards them from the corner of the building. The Hero gulped- this is bad, I really can't protect myself right now because my hands are literally tied. The Hero's anxiety was at alarmingly high levels as they tried to internally calm themselves down (which didn't work). The shadow went over and flicked on the light switch, momentarily blinding the Hero.
Like a puppet cut off from its strings, the Hero slumped down in utter relief, voice a breathy sigh as they spoke, "It's only you huh, thank goodness, I was afraid it might be someone else who wanted to hurt me." They saw the Villain looking at them like they were a creature from another planet, standing comfortably by the wall.
The Villain sure as hell had good reason for their facial expressions and actions, their mind currently running a marathon- why did the Hero look so relieved after seeing that it was me, when they were clearly terrified just a moment ago? I mean, I'm the Villain... how can they be so sure that I wouldn't harm them? Their mind immediately pulled up the mental image of how all the tension in the Hero's shoulder just left once they knew that it was them standing in the corner, and how relieved their voice sounded. It was seriously very disturbing and the Villain couldn't understand why.
The Villain walked closer to the Hero who was currently struggling to get out of those ropes, "How did you know that I wouldn't hurt you? ", the Villain questioned, voice dark, " don't give me this bullshit of 'I trusted you' -
"But I did, and I do." The Hero had stopped wiggling in their chair and focused all of their attention on the Villain who looked like he was kicked in the gut. "Huh?", was all the distressed villain could manage, eyes fixed on the enigmatic Hero. The Hero simply chuckled- a soft sound that did weird things to the Villain's chest, " I mean no offense Villain, but you could have seriously killed me, with your fingers around my neck and all-"
The Hero didn't even see the Villain move, and before they knew it, their mouth was clamped shut by the Villain's hand, amber eyes looking into theirs desperately, "Just don't talk." , the villain said curtly- because it's driving me mad, you're driving me mad.
"O-okay?" The Hero said unsure of themselves, focusing their attention back into getting themselves out of those ropes. The Villain was just going to go and mull in the corner, and have an inner monologue with themselves before a loud groan- which soon turned into a pained whine, came from the direction of the Hero. They Villain whisked their head back so quickly, and surprised themselves because of how much they cared. They sprang over to where they tied the Hero, eyes meticulously going over the binds- I know I didn't tie it that tightly...
"What's wrong?" , the Villain asked, letting just a little emotion seep into their voice. The Hero looked up at them and it was only then that the Villain noticed how tired they were- those eyes that had always shined like a starry sky were now a dull blue, dark circles lining those eyes like they were a permanent inhabitant of their handsome/beautiful face. Though according to the Villain, they had no place there.
"Is there something on my face?" ,the Hero asked, twisting and turning a little. Bad move, they thought, as a loud gasp tore out of their throat and they doubled over in pain. The Villain was there in a jiffy, holding them up gently. They even let them lean on their body for support and the Hero couldn't help but smile despite the pain.
"What's wrong?!" The Villain asked once again, eyes searching every visible nook and corner of the Hero's body for any sign of injuries.
"I-It hurts.", they gasped, leaning in closer to the Villain.
The Villain got rid of the restraints themselves, carried the Hero bridal style and placed them on the floor to get a better look at them, all the while the Villain's mind was at crossroads- why am I doing this? vs I don't want to see them hurt playing on a loop inside their head. With every jostle the Hero flinched and the Villain's chest clenched with guilt?- something that they hadn't allowed themselves to feel in ages.
"Where does it hurt?" The Villain's voice came out gentle, and they surprised themselves once again.
They looked down to see the Hero grinning at them, eyss once again becoming a starry sky. Despite going through every possibility in their head as to how the Hero would react when they woke up again, grinning and soft eyes was definitely not on the Villain's list of possibilities- It made them weak.
"Here and here." The Hero pointed with their index finger to the general area around their ribs and below. No external injury could be seen, which meant that it was damaged internally- that's bad. The Villain went through the first aid procedures in their head.
The Hero smiled at them, "You don't have to look so worried Villain, I'll be fine. You've done enough, so I'll just go and get myself admitted at a hospital. " The Hero attempted to stand up, only to curl in on themselves again.
The Villain was angry, because it seemed like this stupid Hero was only desperate to hurt themselves more. And it made them even more furious to admit that they let something like "the Hero's wellbeing" get to them.
"Just sit here and don't move, I'm going to get the first aid supplies." The Villain made sure to glare extra hard at the greenie Hero so that they wouldn't get any other foolish ideas. They watched the Hero nod happily, as they made their way over to the other side of the room, looking for said supplies.
"So this is really where you live huh- and they went into a furious coughing fit. The Villain rushed back, cursing the Hero in their mind for not even giving them a few moments of peace, hand rubbing soothing circles onto their back. In the back of their mind though, the Villain was relieved at the fact that the Hero at least had a brain in there. They watched as the Hero gasped and spluttered, struggling to breathe. They definitely broke a few ribs during the fight, the Villain's mind fed worryingly from the Hero's reaction. Their hands instantly started working on the first aid measures, patching the Hero up the best they could.
"Don't talk, don't move, stay still." The Villain's voice may have sounded deep and cold but the Hero could feel the warmth in each of those words. They were slowly starting to feel tired, eyelids closing involuntarily once again.
The Villain stared at their nemesis, a look of fear stretching across their face, "Oi, don't close your eyes! Hero! Listen to me!"
-
The Hero woke up once again, this time to beeping sounds and bleary white walls. A hospital. They only turned their head, suddenly aware of the pain below their chest and their eyes landed on a slumped figure, on a chair by their bedside. Villain... had they admitted them to the hospital? How did I even get here? Don't tell me that they carried me all the way here?!
The Hero's face heated up at the thought, and they wiggled their hands in front of their face, swatting the thought away as if it were a fly. They sighed, feeling much better than they remembered feeling before they blacked out. Their eyes shifted to their phone which gave a soft glow in the dark.
One new message.
Villain: Your phone really doesn't have any useful information at all, you greenie Hero.
The Hero chuckled at the apparent annoyance that the Villain might have felt upon the discovery. It was the truth, they really weren't allowed to know as much as their higher ups did.
Villain: Open your notes.
The Hero became alarmed, their fingers flying to the notes app. The notes was like their personal diary and they never let anyone read through them. They were pissed, eyes glaring at the sleeping villain as they opened the most recently edited note-
The story I read today was so good, I hope I get to meet a villain like that in my life!
Well you met one today, what did you think? Tell me after you wake up- Villain.
And the story was nothing special, I read it. I'm sure we could do so much better than that- Villain.
If the Hero's cheeks weren't flaming then, they sure were now. They weren't even mad anymore, just giddy, smiling like an idiot at the sleeping Villain.
"You were amazing, Villain."
The Hero opened up the Villain's chat-
H: How am I supposed to tell you if you're still asleep dummy. Wake up!!!
H: And next time, don't just snoop around my phone while I'm asleep. Just ask me and I'll give it to you.
okay this ended up being way more cheesy than it was in my head lol/ villain gets influenced by hopeless romantic hero/ it's the beginning of their own fanfic inspired heroxvillain relationship/hero is extremely satisfied-hope you all liked it.
Villain had never seen Hero look so crestfallen before, and if their chest already didn't hurt from running like a mad person and jumping over rooftops to get to Hero, it definitely did hurt now. It hurt like hell.
Villain wanted to say something, anything, and if only Hero looked up at their face instead of staring at the cold stone floor, they would have seen how desperate Villain was to make them believe that they meant it... that they meant every word when they said that they would help Hero.
"Hero... I, I really did mean it when I said that I'd come."
Hero finally looked up at them, just as Villain had wished, but all Villain was shown were soulless eyes and lips in a thin line. Be careful what you wish for ran around in a loop inside Villain's head.
"Then why?" Hero asked and Villain could hear the unsaid words hanging heavily in the air.
Then why didn't you come?
The truth was, Villain was being obstructed by Supervillain's henchmen and fighting all of them off alone proved to be a difficult task. If this was just a normal fight, Villain wouldn't have minded getting themselves hurt, but no, there was nothing normal about this, they had a far more important job to do (to protect the Hero), so they had to be in top shape .
Villain sighed, their mind having figured out whom they had to protect the Hero from. Villain was scared, and maybe more hopeless about this situation than Hero was currently, but no one had to know that.
Protecting hero was much more important than their own fear of the Supervillain.
They offered Hero a hand, eyes soft.
"Come on Hero, get up. I'm here now, and I'm planning to keep my promise."
I'll definitely keep it this time .
âI kept waiting for you, Villain, and you never came,â Hero whispered, head down. Â âBut, itâs too late,â Hero laughed to themselves, feeling their heart begin to race. Â âIâm as good as dead now,â
Definitely something I think every writer needs to hear (including myself) <3
Whatâs your best advice for battling self-doubt as a writer?
Hi! My advice probably isnât the best, but I hope you find something helpful :)
I alternate between being wildly confident in my abilities and thinking that Iâm barely past literate and a second grader could do better than me. Whenever that happens, and my brain starts telling me that it looks terrible, I tell it to shut up and then post something anyway. Of course, I know that this definitely wonât work for a lot of people, since it takes a lot of practice to stop trusting your brain. I can only do it because of other things my brain tells me to do which I donât listen to.Â
Something my writing teacher told me a while ago (yes Iâm one of those kids that had a weird attachment to their English teacher, donât @ me) was that if someone wrote Sharknado and someone else liked it enough to turn it into a movie, then someone will like your writing. Now, I havenât seen Sharknado, but it sounds about right.Â
I also find it helpful to read over peopleâs comments on my writing, which, if youâre starting out, probably doesnât help. Validation from other people shouldnât be what gives you your confidence as a writer, but it helps a lot. Thatâs more about getting attention as a writer, though, and for that itâs important to tag stuff and to talk to other people. Following people, commenting on posts, liking things- thatâs all going to help.Â
Writing is hard. And if youâre doing it, youâre already amazing.
Self doubt isnât going to leave, everyone has to deal with it. The best thing you can do is power on, and remember that someone will like it.Â
hope that helps!Â
mutuals add on?
<3
You stop in mid-motion, with your lips no more than two or three centimetres from theirs. Your breath fans warm onto their flushed skin as they look questioningly up into your eyes. They want you to kiss them. They expect you to kiss them. Itâs written all over that adorable little frown of theirs.
But you wonât just hand yourself over to them on a silver platter. Youâre not that cheap. And besides, youâre certainly not going to make it that easy. You wonât allow room for them to make excuses later, to tell themself you forced them and that they hadnât actually wanted any of it.
No.
You know your own worth.
You are far too precious for that.
If they want you theyâll have to put in the necessary effort first. It has to be their choice, made of their own free will. If they want a taste of you theyâll have to claim it by themself.
Theyâll have to seal this deal with their kiss.
You see the realisation gleam in the depths of those eyes theyâre watching your every move with so attentively. A hint of desperation creeps into the lines on their face. Their throat bobs as they swallow, you can feel it brush against the back of your fingers.
A smile tugs at the corner of your mouth as you withdraw the hand that had been gently lifting their chin. Theyâre now free to turn their head away from you or lower it, but they do no such thing. Something in your gaze seems to be holding them in place still, even after youâve removed the caress of your fingers.
The distance between you appears to be melting away gradually. You wonder whether theyâve noticed theyâre slowly closing it. If so, theyâre doing a great job at not letting it show on their face.
You canât help but sigh as their breath starts to mingle with your own. So close youâre even breathing each other now. Traces of them are in the air all around you. The scent they carry conjures an image of an afternoon walk through the forest on a warm summer day.
Their half-opened lips tremble ever so slightly against yours. Youâd think them vulnerable and on the verge of surrender, if it werenât for that glint in their eyes, the persistent defiance underneath all that need and longing. There is a glimpse of danger lurking in the shadows, a predator.
They draw a gasp from you, running the nails of their fingers down your spine. You knew theyâd try something, yet somehow this catches you by surprise anyway. Your body shudders against theirs.
Pressed flush to them now, you suddenly become keenly aware this is the closest youâve ever been to them. The heat of their body seeps into you, seemingly unhindered by the oh so thin layers of clothing separating you from one another.
They wink at you, as if to tease you one more time. Then a simple touch of their tongue along your upper lip makes the last remnants of your self-restraint crumble as well. You lean in.
And just like that you lose yet another one of these little games.
You should have known better than to underestimate them!
So I opened my Tumblr app around a minute ago because I realized I didn't look at it at all today and I found like 44 notifications?! Anyways, hope you all are having a good day/night!!
The joint operation begins in 15 minutes.
Hero gulps nervously. Their hands are sweaty, body jittery. They're pretty new to this whole hero thing, and this is just their second operation, and already the hero organization wants them to work on a joint operation with a vigilante.
Hero doesn't understand, are they evil or not? Should I be scared or no? Their mind starts spiraling. If they're cooperating with the heroes, they can't be that bad right? Hero shakes their head a little, as if to stop thinking. I'm just being silly, I'll know if I meet them.
Hero takes brave steps, making it to the rooftop to get some air first and then they would meet vigilante-
Oh no, they're here too.
It's hard to miss them really- wavy raven curls, a lean but muscular build, and their costume... hero really likes it. Hell, they want to take them to the support people who engineer hero costumes right now and show them all this masterpiece. Hero unconsciously lets out a tiny squeal and immediately puts both hands on their lips, wanting to just disappear into the ground.
Vigilante whisks their head around- eyes sharp, muscles tense, registering someone else's presence on the rooftop. Their body goes lax when they see itâs only the newbie hero.
"Hey, hero."
Hero drops their hands to their side and gives them their brightest smile. They knew that headquarters didn't really want the heroes having much contact with any person on the other side of justice, but this is a joint operation after all, so there's no harm right? Plus they did have to work together, so a good first impression is vital.
Vigilante freezes momentarily. A hero is smiling at me? They almost want to laugh. This is new, all of them generally snarl or sneer. They look into heroâs eyes - itâs such a straightforward gaze, one without any sort of ill intent, that vigilante feels the need to look away. How long has it been since someone looked at me like that? They canât remember.
Hero walks over and sits next to vigilante. "Hey", they say in a quiet voice, still not over their embarrassing episode. Vigilante pays no mind to that though, thoughts still reeling with how to deal with this new hero.
"So," vigilante begins awkwardly, "did you need something?"
Hero just blinks at them, trying to register that question in their head. Then it finally hits them. If the heroes before them didn't talk to vigilante, of course vigilante wouldn't have talked to them beyond necessities either. That's not nice. Hero wants to change that.
"No, nothing. I just wanted to talk with you."
Talk? They just want to talk with me?
"So... you don't need anything from me but you just want to talk with me."
Hero tilts their head adorably, as if thinking about that statement. It does unspeakable things to vigilante's chest.
"Yes, is that... I don't know, against the rules or something?" Hero tries to joke, but it comes out a little shaky.
Vigilante smiles, secretly praying that it looks like one, "No, it's not. It's just... different."
Hero didn't need to look at the shape of their lips to know what vigilante was feeling. They could hear it in their voice- a tinge of pain.
Hero doesn't know anything about vigilante yet, but you don't have to know someone's history to make them smile right? Every person deserves to smile, at least that's what hero thinks. So, they're determined to do that, again and again.
"So, is this different, in a good way or a bad way?"
Vigilante thinks about it for a minute.
"In a good way." Their lips curve happily this time and hero secretly takes pleasure in it.
Vigilante definitely looked so much better with a smile on their face.
Heroâs smile matches vigilanteâs - happy and satisfied.
-
The alarm goes off. They have to get in position now.
But there's something still bugging vigilante. They swallow a bit of their pride to ask, what's probably the most silliest thing that they've ever wanted to ask someone-
"Hero, wait."
Hero stops in their tracks, a few feet away from the exit door, turning back to look at vigilante.
"Why, um, why did you... smile?"
Hero chuckles heartily and vigilante's cheeks turn redder by the second. The tone is soft and sweet, not condescending, so vigilante doesn't mind at all. In fact, they think that they could even get used to heroâs laughter, and maybe, theyâll end up liking it someday.
Heroâs eyes don't leave vigilante while they think of an answer in their head. The hero organisation must be crazy, because how else can they label this person as evil?
" You donât really need a reason to smile, you just smile if you feel like it, thatâs all. But if you really want to know, smiles are something that reflect one another- thatâs the nice thing about them. So I smiled, because you did.â They pause for a second. â But even if you didnât, I would have smiled anyways, because I wanted to.â
Hero grins as if to reinstate their point and vigilante smiles back, only then realising that they've been doing it unconsciously. It just felt foreign, but in the best way.
Vigilante looks like theyâre trying to understand a math problem and hero thinks itâs the cutest thing. "You're right. That makes sense."Â
Vigilante holds out their hand and hero looks at them questioningly.
"Come on, this way is faster", they point towards the edge of the rooftop.
Hero feels like their heart is going to fly right out of their mouth if they don't close it, so that's what they do. They keep their lips sealed as vigilante effortlessly scoops them up in their arms and jumps off the rooftop, their powers immediately coming to life. It makes hero wonder just how many times they've done this.
Hero can literally see their superiors in their head, hurtling curses at them for allowing a situation like this to happen. They look at vigilante's face from the corner of their eyes, and it's small, but that's definitely a smile there. Hero smiles wide, a feeling of pride filling up their chest. They know it's funny to feel that way, but feelings are feelings.
As they land safely on the ground, hero thinks,
I'll just leave this part out of my report.
I'm letting the spotlight shine on vigilante for this one, because hurray to morally grey characters who just pretend to be evil and don't actually go around causing chaos xD Hope you all will enjoy this one^^
