This is just perfect
You guys seem to absolutely love this snippet, so enjoy the continuation! Another one is also on it’s way! See masterlist for the first 5 parts *Please note, I decided that because this snippet has gone on so long, I think it’s time the hero/villain need to be actual characters, so the villains name is revealed in this chapter. The hero’s will be next chapter. In my head, they are both boys, so you’ll notice the use of those pronouns from now on, however, feel free to imagine them however you like!!* —————————————————————————————————
The following week was strange. The hero hadn’t seen the villain since he ‘broke out’ of jail. They had been texting, occasionally, but that wasn’t why the week had been strange.
The week had been strange because the hero hadn’t been called in for a single crime! There were still the occasional small things, but nothing worth calling the hero in for. It was as if all the other villains had up and left the city!
The hero turned the corner down an alley, deep in their thoughts. Were the villains planning something big? Were they working together? Why had there been almost no sightings of any of them!?
Suddenly, without warning, something hard and metallic connected with the back of the hero’s head, and everything went black.
When he finally came to an hour later, his head was still spinning, a faint ringing in his ears as he tried to blink the world around them into focus. He went to try and move, but found he couldn’t. Finally, his eyes seemed to focus enough to see the rope that was tying him to their chair.
“Rissseeee and shiiinneeee!!!” A voice chirped behind them, too loudly. The hero winced.
He recognized the voice, though. It was Fallout, one of the higher-up villains in town.
“Well, look who finally decided to join us back in the land of the living!"
"What do you want, Fallout?” the hero asked, though his voice came out slightly strained.
“Oh, don’t worry, darling, for once, I’m not actually all that interested in you! You’re just the bait today!"
"Bait for who?” the hero asked in confusion. This was new; he’d never been bait before. Who would come for them?
“Bait to lure your new boyfriend, obviously,” the villain replied as they finally walked into the hero’s view. He sat down onto an office chair, pushing off the ground and rolling directly in front of the hero, a manic grin on his face.
“I don’t know who you’re talking about,” the hero replied, narrowing his eyes.
“I’m going to assume he’s talking about me,” came a new voice. Both the hero and Fallout’s head snapped to look at the newcomer.
“Yes, he would be the one! The one you somehow managed to befriend while they were in prison,” Fallout drawled as he stood up, “Welcome welcome Silver,"
Silver, right. That was the villain’s new name on the street recently.
The villain sighed. The hero noticed his eyes dart over to him, looking him up and down, scanning for injuries, before looking back to the other villain in the room, "I don’t know if you’re brave or stupid,"
"I’m irritated is what I am!” Fallout snapped angrily,
“Everyone slow down,” the hero interrupted, “someone mind filling me in on what the hell is going on here?"
"ever since your boyfriend got out of jail, most villains have been too scared to try anything ever since we found out this one’s got a soft spot for you!"
The hero’s eyes widened, glancing between the two villains in front of them.
"So… you kidnapped them? That seems smart,” he commented, lazily adjusting the cuffs of his suit.
“I did so to prove a point,” Fallout drawled, “I wanted to prove that they made you weak. You don’t need a soft spot for this pathetic piece of meat; he will only slow you down,"
The villain simply raised an eyebrow.
"I mean, think about it, you wasted your time, coming here, to save him, when you could have been doing other things! Imagine the things you could be doing! Instead, you’re here, all because of him,"
The villain yawned, rolling their eyes, "Oh yes, the things I could be doing. You interrupted my bubble bath I’ll have you know, quite an important thing, that,"
The hero couldn’t help himself. He snorted. He really shouldn’t have, but when he saw the smile that crept onto Silver’s face, he decided it was worth it.
"Also, I would like to say, I made no such declaration for other villains not to touch him,” Silver continued, gesturing to the hero who was still tied to their chair, “I’m plenty certain he’s more than capable of handling themselves,"
"If you really believed that, then why would you come to rescue him?"
"I’m here because you called me,” the villain deadpanned, “He isn’t my significant other, but you implied he was. It’s the principle of trying to take something you assumed was mine, regardless of your correctness,"
Suddenly the villain pulled something out of his pocket and whipped it. Fallout didn’t have time to react before the dagged pierced their thigh.
"And as I said earlier, I don’t know if you’re brave or stupid. Though, I’m fairly certain with my conclusion that you are neither. Your simply insane,"
"Don’t kill him!” they hero called urgently, “there’s no need to kill him, just get me out of here,"
The villain sighed, "Very well. That’s much less entertaining, though,"
He walked over, cutting the hero free in one, swift motion.
"Though I’d be lying if I said I didn’t anticipate you wouldn’t want them killed. Thus my decision to aim for their leg. Should make arresting them much simpler, given they can’t run away. Merry Christmas?” He added with a sly, yet chillingly charming smirk.
The hero’s eyes widened, looking at the other in shock.
“Uhm, yeah, right,” He shook his head as he pulled the handcuffs out of his pocket and made his way over to Fallout, who was crippled on the ground.
“This was so much easier when heroes and villains weren’t on the same side!” He growled from his position on the floor, trying to scoot away from the advancing hero.
“Ah, how times change,” The villain drawled. He raised his hand, and the dagger that was embedded in the other’s leg shot out. Fallout let out a screech of pain, blood splattering over them. The villain caught the dagger effortlessly, spinning it through his fingers.
The hero yelped in surprise, “Remember how I said don't kill him?!"
"I didn’t hit an artery; he’ll be fine,” the villain replied, rolling his eyes.
Lucky the villain was right, and the hero was able to stop the bleeding and arrest them without too much issue.
“Well,” the villain mused once it was all said and done, “I got you kidnapped today; I think the least I can do is offer you a cup of tea?” He smirked.
Definitely something I think every writer needs to hear (including myself) <3
What’s your best advice for battling self-doubt as a writer?
Hi! My advice probably isn’t the best, but I hope you find something helpful :)
I alternate between being wildly confident in my abilities and thinking that I’m barely past literate and a second grader could do better than me. Whenever that happens, and my brain starts telling me that it looks terrible, I tell it to shut up and then post something anyway. Of course, I know that this definitely won’t work for a lot of people, since it takes a lot of practice to stop trusting your brain. I can only do it because of other things my brain tells me to do which I don’t listen to.
Something my writing teacher told me a while ago (yes I’m one of those kids that had a weird attachment to their English teacher, don’t @ me) was that if someone wrote Sharknado and someone else liked it enough to turn it into a movie, then someone will like your writing. Now, I haven’t seen Sharknado, but it sounds about right.
I also find it helpful to read over people’s comments on my writing, which, if you’re starting out, probably doesn’t help. Validation from other people shouldn’t be what gives you your confidence as a writer, but it helps a lot. That’s more about getting attention as a writer, though, and for that it’s important to tag stuff and to talk to other people. Following people, commenting on posts, liking things- that’s all going to help.
Writing is hard. And if you’re doing it, you’re already amazing.
Self doubt isn’t going to leave, everyone has to deal with it. The best thing you can do is power on, and remember that someone will like it.
hope that helps!
mutuals add on?
"Soooo~" , the villain drawled on for longer than necessary, "what does love mean to you?"
The hero groaned, hands on their head, hiding their face away in their palms. They really didn't want to engage in a conversation that was of no use to the critical mission which they were about to take on. (Yes, they had formed a truce with the villain, for the time being.)
But apparently the villlain was eager to continue the conversion, nudging the hero gently with their elbow a few times to make them look up at them with fake annoyance. The hero didn't want to admit it, but they really wanted to talk to the villain like this more, talk about silly things, like they didn't have to wake up the next morning and undertake a mission which they didn't know if they would come back alive from or not.
They sighed, " I don't really know, haven't thought of it much."
It's a lie, forgive me.
The villain accepted the answer, it wasn't really that weird considering both professions really didn't give them the time to think about things like love (which was just a silly dream, according to the villain.)
But as silly as it may be, the villain wanted to pursue more of it (and for once in their life, they had no regrets) with the hero.
The mission was over shortly, taken care of swiftly by the combined team work of the hero-villain combi.
"See you tomorrow?", the villain asked, eyes sprakling, as if they were two friends making a promise to meet after school.
The hero could only smile and prayed that the villain didn't notice it was fake, "Sure."
The villain turned around and walked away brisky and the hero just stood there, staring at their retreating back until they couldn't see them anymore.
You look so happy and that's why I can't tell you, that for me, love simply means one word-
You.
I tried angst this time/heroes are so bad at asking for help/I can relate though/poor villain doesn't know about the impending heartbreak/I feel bad for them.
OKAY THIS IS 🥺💖❤

how to kiss on paper advice y'all <333
Ok but seriously, the way you write kissing scenes is amazing. Do you have any writing advice on writing intimate moments between two characters (keeping it pg-13)? I feel like my own writing always feels stale when I get to those parts.
you’re so sweet, thank you! kissing actually used to be the hardest thing for me to write, and I think it was because I rushed too quickly to the “big” or “exciting” moments, and then I ran out of things to write about. the most important thing I learned was to slow down when writing intimate moments, maybe even slower than you originally think you need to.
so say you’re writing a kiss!! at first you might want to begin the moment when their lips first meet. but I raise you:
do they look each other in the eyes first? and oh is this the first time they’ve ever made eye contact up so close? what new things might they notice, a stray eyelash or creases in the other’s skin from faded smile lines?
can they feel each other’s breathing? is it faster than normal, more irregular? when was the last time they felt someone’s breathing on their skin this way?
do they touch each other before they kiss? on the face maybe? what does their skin feel like underneath their fingertips? is it warm? are they blushing? maybe they touch on the shoulder, or on the arm, curling their fingers into the fabric of their sweater? or maybe they keep their hands shoved in their lap, too nervous to touch—will this made the kiss clumsier, more unsteady?
do they watch the other’s eyes flutter closed? squeeze shut? are their lips dry? do they look soft?
what are they thinking about when they lean in? is their heart pounding? are their palms sweaty? or are they full of longing and relief because they’ve wanted this for so long and it’s finally happening and they just—surge toward each other and finally finally find each other’s mouths?
and then what?
as I’m writing intimate moments, I usually try to keep a balance between what’s physically happening—a brush of lips over the cheek—and what’s internally happening—oh god oh god they’re treating me so gently I might break, etc etc. of course this is only one style of writing but it helped make kissing scenes fun for me! im sorry this reply was so long but I hope it was helpful at least a little bit 💕💕💕

Hi! If you get this, answer with three random things about yourself and send this to the last seven blogs in your notifications – Anonymously or not! Let’s get to know the person behind the blog!
Three completely random things about me, huh? Okay, let's see...
1. My favourite animals are vultures. They're gorgeous!! I especially like those that are part of the genus Gyps. However, Gypaetus barbatus, the bearded vulture, is even more fascinating. Honestly, you should google that one! Not only does it look really cool, it also has a diet that consists mostly of bone!!
2. When I was 11 and watched Jurassic Park for the first time, I spontaneously decided that I would one day become a palaeontologist. Something about a grumpy guy running through a jungle, protecting children he finds annoying, trying not to get eaten by dinosaurs, somehow really appealed to 11-year-old me. I have to admit though, even today, having learned what palaeontologists actually do most of the time, a part of me is still hung up on that idea.
3. Despite being demiromantic, I recently managed to fall in love romantically with someone breathtakingly amazing!! Seriously, it's been years since the last time I felt any romantic feelings towards any real person. I so wasn't expecting something like this to happen, but somehow it did. And that isn't even the best part!! Because she is such a wonderful and lovely person and I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to call her my girlfriend <3
I am going to cry, this is so sweet 🥺🫂
right back at you my friend!! thank you for reading my stuff, even if you don't really follow the fandom - I appreciate that so so much <333
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who don’t or can’t write the 50k fan-fictions, because of a lack of focus or motivation, or mental illness.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who don’t or can’t write smut, but are still lumped into a group that is almost expected to write smut.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who can’t update chapters frequently for maybe a multitude of reasons, and get messages daily from people asking for “their” new chapter.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who aren’t big name fans and hardly get ten kudos or one comment on their fan-fictions.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who stay up all night editing and rewriting and don’t get much attention on their work no matter how much they feel like they promote their writing.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who don’t write a lot and are constantly asked to write more but can’t for whatever valid reason they have.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers who have the courage to post their writing online and only have it publicly made fun of for grammar or poor characterization.
Shout-out to fan-fiction writers for writing their fan-fiction, posting it online, and continuing to do it no matter how much or little attention they get, and constantly improving as a writer with every upload.
You all rock.
This is so cute omg <3
If you were a book you'd sit on my bed, right next to my pillow. You'd be my favourite story, the one that never fails to cheer me up when I'm feeling down.
I'd reread you dozens of times, with an unceasing enthusiasm. And when I can already recite you by heart, I'd still never tire of skimming through your pages.
Lovingly, I'd caress the creases left in your paper over the years we've spend together, run my fingers along the now smooth edges.
Even when my hands are wrinkled by old age and your once chalk-white pages have yellowed, my love for you would be as young and undying as it had been the day I read from you for the very first time.
CUTE🥺💖
“For the third time, I don’t want to hurt you. I love you.” The villain had not expected this reaction to their declaration of love.
The hero squinted. “But… you’re a villain.”
“Well spotted.”
“And… you love me?”
“Yes!” Finally, they were getting somewhere.
The hero scratched their head. “I don’t understand.”
