I think I’ve heard of one single fic where Effie and Fleamont were somehow worse than Walburga and Orion??? It wasn’t even like a reverse kinda situation where Walburga and Orion were good instead of Effie and Fleamont?????? I hope it was a wattpad fic

I love how in the marauders fandom we argue about absolutely everything except Euphemia and Fleamont Potter being great parents. We all have different opinions and headcanons but I have never once heard a bad word about those two. 

Oh and before you say we all agree on Walburga being terrible, I once read a oneshot where she was weirdly nice. It was one of the most unsettling things I’ve ever read. 

AU where Zuko realises very early into his banishment that he’s been sent on a hopeless goose chase and, actually, he doesn’t want to return to the oppressive Fire Nation and his abusive father. And he sticks with this decision even after Aang wakes up from the iceberg

Except then Aang meets Zuko - probably when Zuko jumps in to save someone, because his sense of justice is too strong to just sit back while someone is hurt, even if he is trying to remain apolitical - and his brain goes “!!!!” Because that’s a good firebender. They do exist. And now Aang knows someone who can teach him firebending without trying to kill him

Except Zuko wants nothing to do with the Avatar. He especially doesn’t want to get entangled with his father’s war. So the rest of the season is about Zuko running from the Avatar, and Aang and co trying to capture the reluctant ex-Prince of the Fire Nation so he can be Aang’s firebending teacher

Tim definitely knows who’s who, but he finds it funny to lightheartedly mess with Damian

I want a fic or something about the Batfamily where Jason and Dick de-aged back to their Robin days by like a wizard or some shit, then Damian and Tim have to look after them... except they mix them up.

There's two little boys with black hair and blue eyes, wearing the same pants-less costume, and both answering to the name of Robin, but one is all wide eyes and wide smile and one has a murderous anger in his gaze and demeanor, so they make assumptions that *obviously* the murder-y one is Jason and the happy little boy is Dick.

Then they get back to the Batcave and Bruce automatically knows which one is which and calls them by the right names. I just think it'd be a total mind-fuck for Tim and especially Damian.

S3 Will both would, often does and has multiple times. No clue what happened to his self esteem/confidence in s4 but that applies to like 80% of all the characters in that season. (I have no clue what the writers were thinking that whole time)

Headcanon that Will becomes more comfortable joking with everyone, and when he’s losing Uno he gasps and touches the back of his neck and everyone starts flipping out so he can figure out his game plan with his three yellow cards.

Weirdly good food/drink combinations pt.2:

I call this drink a Turd Cola and despite what the name suggests it is very tasty. You will need a few ingredients for this recipe, I recommend your local grocery store (and I hope that Polly Chocolate is a thing where you live).

Ingredients and supplies:

Your local grocery stores version of cheap off brand Coca Cola (because boycotting brands that support genocide is a good idea)

Fanta exotic (BUT PLEASE BUY A CHEAP OFF BRAND ALTERNATIVE IF YOU CAN BECAUSE FANTA AND COCA COLA ARE OWNED BY THE SAME PEOPLE!)

A bag of Polly’s milk chocolate, maybe even with Åhlgrens Bilar instead of the normal stuffing. (This can unfortunately only be acquired in Sweden so if you’re not in Sweden then you can just buy mini marshmallows)

Pizza (is optional but the bread crumbs floating around add to the experience. buy something from a local small pizza place and not from the really big chains if you can because most of the really big chains should be boycotted for the same reasons as most of the other things on this ingredients list)

A very large wine glass

Now that you have the ingredients what you’re gonna do is:

Pour in the (ripoff) fanta and make sure that you leave about half of the glass empty depending on how much you want of the other ingredients but really it’s up to you because you can always drink some if it gets too full.

Cola, make sure to leave some space in the top for the other ingredients

Put in a handful of the Polly chocolate/mini marshmallows and if you have pizza then you should make sure to leave just a little bit of extra space but now the drink part is complete

Dip in your pizza slice and let it soak for a bit before taking a bite.

Enjoy your pizza and your abomination of a drink!

To add on to the part about Peetas name: not only he named after bread but he was also on fire with Katniss twice (being baked twice would burn bread) and he gave her the burnt bread when she was starving.

Peeta is literally the burnt bread.

Suzanne Collins is one of the few contemporary writers who realizes the importance of names in her stories and the significance they bear. They add so many layers to the story, additional meanings that otherwise would not have existed.

The original trilogy:

Katniss: named after a plant of which you can eat the roots. Her father taught her where to find it and told her that “as long as you can find yourself, you’ll survive” (quote may be a little bit off, but it’s from one of the early chapters in THG). Additionally, the leaves are in the shape of an arrowhead, referencing her skills with the bow which her father also taught her how to use.

Peeta: literally bread lmao. But bread is one of the basic nutritions humans need, a little bit goes a long way to keep you alive. Peeta’s presence in Katniss’s life also kept her alive, literally and figuratively—the burned bread he threw her in the flashback and their complicated relationship.

Primrose: a plant with medicinal purposes, even more significant in light of her work as a medic in Mockingjay.

Gale: literally means “strong wind” and considering that in every encounter with Katniss he’s caused some reaction, he pulls her into directions she maybe initially doesn’t want to go in. Additionally, his name also represents his determination and steadfastness in his beliefs.

TBOSAS

Lucy Gray: named after William Wordsworth’s poem “Lucy Gray” which is about the titular character of the poem who got lost during a blizzard. She literally got lost in snow. Rachel Zegler sang this poem in two parts on the original soundtrack of the movie. When Snow asked who the girl in the song is, Lucy answers that she’s a mystery, just like her.

Snow: aside from the obvious snow references, I think his name is most significant in relation to Lucy and the poem. The only one who knows what caused her disappearance is Snow. He is the reason that Lucy is gone. But her traces in the snow are still visible. He will always remember her because the memory of Lucy has manifested itself in every part of his life.

Coriolanus: named after the Roman general (and also the titular character of Shakespeare’s play), Coriolanus wanted to attack Rome and become its ruler. He was scorned and celebrated by the people, only to be later exiled from the city by them. In TBOSAS, Coriolanus is the star pupil at the Capitol’s academy but sent into exile to the districts after he won the Games with Lucy through cheating.

Volumnia: Coriolanus mother who played a part in his ascent to power. In TBOSAS, she almost serves like a mentor to Coriolanus, teaching him how to think in terms of power.

(Edit) Sejanus: a roman soldier who was betrayed by the roman emperor Tiberius, just like the future president betrayed him.

(Edit) Plinth: got this info from here, but it was too good not to include here. A plinth is a base for a statue or vase to stand on. After Sejanus’s death, all of the Plinth fortune was given to Snow for being such a good to friend him. It was this money that skyrocketed the Snow family from poverty to filthy rich. The Plinth money was the foundation upon which Snow built his power.

There are so many other names that have historical (mostly Roman and Greek) connotations—Plutarch, Seneca, Cinna—but also regular names like Trinket and Beetee bear meanings that represent the character beautifully.

Names are important. For any lover of literature or (aspiring) writers, please look closely at them. They can shape your story into something unique.
