Some time ago I have stumbled upon a post asking someone to draw Silco and Vander like this:

I cannot find the original poster I also think it was a screenshot from twitter that I found on pinterest. Nonetheless I have made a promise to myself that if I manage to pass the semester I will draw them, so here is my attempt, enjoy I guess?

Seeing as Jinx got two disc covers in the jukebox, Ekko and Vi got one each I have decided to commit some for Silco and Vander. Here you go, I may add colour to them later but for now this is it.

And yes I know the song for the divorced ones is realy named "Goodbye" but that's lame title and the line "Oh my enemy" always grabs me right by the heart and yanks like nobody's buisness so I changed it. And it looks better imo

Sooo I read this and was like, one day when I will have both time AND animation skills I will animate it. HOWEVER my brain couldn't let it go so here is my quick version in drwaing for now. Enjoy I guess?

Zaundad's story, but it's Mamma Mia songs:

1. Voulez-Vous - Vander and Silco meet. Vander thinks it'll be something serious, Silco only wants the sex.

2. Why Did It Have to Be Me? - after actually a series of ONS, Vander starts to catch some feelings. Silco notices and tries to end their hooking-up. Vander has some objections.

3. The Name of the Game - Silco fights with his growing affecting towards Vander.

4. Andante, Andante - Silco slowly opening up to Vander

5. Waterloo, Lay All Your Love on Me - a full romance, completely insufferably in love, Golden Age

6. Knowing Me, Knowing You - right after the Pilt

7. Mamma Mia - Silco seeing Vander for the first time since the Pilt (after Vi's death and when Vander joins the fight for Zaun again)

8. SOS - Silco and Vander try to work together during the Revolution

9. The Winner Takes It All - breaking point. They feel like there's no fixing what they lost

10. When All Is Said and Done - some time after Zaun wins its independence and starts to prosper fully, Silco and Vander meet again and realise that it's never too late to start all over again.

I have read many fics now that have stated Vander didn't have a beard while he knew Silco and I am here to state that it's wrong. I'm 100% sure he did aaaaand I can prove it!

(Just so its clear in my head they are/were a couple and not just friends but this works regardles of their relationship)

So... in S1E1 in the very first scene sequence we get to see Vander during the bridge massacre. He has a beard in that scene.

Later during Silco's flashbacks there are few frames where we can see Vander in the river as they fight, in those few frames Vander clearly has no beard. These I presume are the reason some people think Vander didn't have facial hair when he was with Silco.

In season two when we get to see Vander's flashbacks there is a scene on the bridge, where Silco (without eye trauma) is shown standing shocked above Felicia's and Connor's bodies presumably staring right at Vander.

Now, my brain supplies that Vander and Silco went to that bridge together so Silco must have known Vander with a beard. But it also supplies that since in the attempted drowning scene Vander is without it there must have been time. And that my dear people is heartbreaking.

For I think that after that massacre Vander and Silco did meet back at the Drop, I think Vander shaved and changed his clothes so he could go back on that bridge without being recognised as one of the fighters. I don't know if Silco did too but with the way his hair looked in Vander memories I think he might have cut it as in the river scene he has it shorter. I think they went out there, risking their lives so they could take Felicia's and Connol bodies and send them off in the river.

(I also think it makes sense that Zaun's traditional way of "burial" would be sending the body out to the sea as Jinx did with Silco in season two as there is simply no space for dead to stay in Zaun without piling up uncontrollably.)

So I believe they have done that, and after preforming funeral for their friends they started fighting. The emotions must have been sooo high. And I think it's more believable that right after Vander's reaction to Silco would be relief that he's alive even if he did blame Silco for the outcome. So I think they stood in that river together with weight of all this suffering settling on their shoulders and I think it was too mutch for them to bear. And so a fight - attempted drowning - all that follows.

But you know it could have just been an animation mistake.

Just finished Arcane yesterday. Just some thoughts, pls don't come at me.

As much as I like Vi, I saw a post that said she didn't have much character growth in the series and I can't help but agree because to me, Vi's story is just, well, family tragedy (pls hear me out). I would like to say except Caitlyn but I think Caitlyn just heightened up the tragedy simply because she's Piltovian and an enforcer who's after her sister. I can't help but think if they hadn't met, Vi wouldn't be forced to choose between Cait and Jinx but she also wouldn't be able to get out of prison without Cait pursuing Jinx so it's inevitable (also Vi can't exist without Cait and vice versa). Vi was in jail for 7 years so when she got out she's still stuck in the world (mindset) seven years ago. Vi tried to keep her promise with Vander in protecting Powder. Tried to reach out, struggled to accept Jinx, then her situationship with Cait, then reuniting with Vander. Vi is someone who can't let go. She can't let go of Cait so she became an enforcer. She can't (almost) let go of Jinx so they tried to bond as sisters again. She can't let go of Vander even when she herself is in danger and by doing so, Jinx had to save her and she lost both of them. I think that's why it felt like she had no character growth is because its a story of a prisoner who's stuck in the past, where she lost everything leading to being unable to let go and faced with its consequences, hence the stagnancy of her character. Though I guess it's not completely a tragedy since Cait's by her side now.

Summary:

Being a father was already hard enough, but when Powder suddenly comes down with a strange, unexplainable illness, Vander finds himself more worried than ever. His fear for his daughter only becomes worse when Sevika insists she recognizes the purple glow of his youngest's eyes, and brings her straight to the one man who could truly strike fear into him.

(I.E. Several people have time-traveled, with various side effects. Vander is not one of those people, but like hell he's leaving his daughter alone with Silco, no matter how strangely soft the man is acting.)

The Hound's Gone Feral

The Hound, after everything, has found himself back in time. He does not know how, and he does not particularly care. All he knows is that he will protect his pups this time, no matter the cost. Vander has time-traveled. Except he's not really sure he's Vander anymore. He's been Warwick for a long time now, and after that, he was part of a hivemind. He's not even close to the man he used to be, and he isn't sure what to do now that he's back to the time when he was still human. But then he sees his pups, his kids, and he knows that nothing else matters. But if he's going to protect them, then he's going to have to take care of the Silco problem. He isn't sure if the man is friend or foe, pack or prey, and so he sets about finding out.

This Vander is feral in a way that nobody is used to. Or, at least, nobody but Silco, who believes that Vander had gone soft. He finds out pretty quickly that Vander is more feral than ever before. Vader has Sevika tell Silco he wants to talk alone, which was a shock by itself since Vander shouldn't have known she was working for him. Silco comes long after the sun has set and the kids are in bed, not actually alone since he decided to bring Sevika with him. But that's fine with the Hound because he knows Sevika is good with his pups when she wants to be. Silco tries to go into the conversation with his silver tongue, but Vander is blunt and honest with him. He tells him that he's been changed, tells him he isn't sure how to see him. Silco tries to scoff and needle and provoke a reaction, but the Hound just watches.

In the end Silco finds the push he was looking for, the kids, and gets a reaction out of Vander. Vander has his hands on Silco almost before he's finished speaking, surprisingly gentle as he pins him against the wall. Silco acts like he's won, gloats about Vander's savage nature, but instead of flinching away Vander leans in closer and *admits that he's worse than ever.* Now Silco's starting to understand, with Vander growing into his neck, that the man pinning him down is far from soft. He starts to panic and struggle, making the Hound chuckle. "Regardless of if you are Pack or Prey, you will not harm the pups." Silco foolishly decided to push his luck, "And if I do?" Vander growled deeper than it should be possible for a human. "Then you will wish you had drowned."

And then Vander lets him go, lets him gasp for air, lets him run off trying to act like he wasn't completely terrified. But Silco knows that Vander has changed, that he isn't soft, and that's enough to change his plans. He also has to bury the part of him that wants to be a part of the Hound's pack, wants to be protected by Vander's bulk once more. Silco realizes that Vander holds seemingly no remorse for what he's done and is willing to do it again. This strokes his anger into yelling, which Vander shuts up by biting him hard enough to draw blood. The Hound is testing to see if Silco's blood will entice him to hunt, but Silco feels the punishment and the claim of the marking. Vander declares him not prey and lays him down in a booth to get the first aid kit and some water. Silco reacts when Vander grabs him to treat the wound and Vander growls back, enforcing the dynamic some more. Some more conversation.

After a few days and then a few meet ups with no violence from Silco, the Hound assumes that Silco has chosen Pack. Which means he starts trying to make sure the man has ate and drank and slept and is otherwise protected since he doesn't sleep in the den with the rest of them. He's been doing the same with Benzo and Ekko, but they take it much better than Silco does. Sevika is mostly amused by this point, and takes the occasional glass of water shoved her way with a nod.

Eventually, they get into an argument about something or another, and Vander threatens to punish Silco. Silco laughs, but then Vander handcuffs him to the chair and plops Powder in his lap with instructions to tell him about her inventions. Powder kind of shrugs and goes with it, and while Silco is definitely feeling the punishment in the beginning, by the end, he's getting along pretty well with Powder and actually helping her with her bombs. The Hound is smug.

The second the Hound and Dr. Corin Reveck are in the same room it is a blood bath. Silco is introducing them for one reason or another, and then Vander is on top of Reveck pounding his skull in. Corin struggles, and manages to get a few wounds in, but he is quickly and brutally overwhelmed by a panicking raging Hound. Silco is in shock and also fairly terrified, especially when Vander rounds on him, but Vander just holds him close and mutters some curses at Reveck's dead body before insisting he is shown his laboratory. Not wanting to get hurt by trying to say no, Silco brings him and watches as the Hound tears the lab apart. He knows very little of what is going on, but he knows from the few words Vader spoke to Reveck that the scientist had been involved in whatever it was that changed him. Silco doesn't think that Vander has taken shimmer, but Reveck did something to him, and so he's not that upset at the man's death. More so the destruction of his plans and a whole lot of shimmer. The only thing Vander handles with any care is Rio, who he puts out of her misery as gently as he can.

Sheriff Grayson meets with the Hound, and is very unnerved by him. Not to mention not very pleased about the hard changes they will have to make. The Hound isn't afraid to threaten, to state facts that double as threats, to drop Grayson's own death into the conversation.

Powder's Jinxers

A bunch of Jinxers travel back in time. All of them are very confused, and it is causing chaos. Sevika manages to calm everything down by corralling them into the Last Drop and dropping Powder on the counter with some trinkets. She encourages her to talk about her inventions, and with a captive audience, she really gets going. After a while, Vander sends her to bed, and they have a meeting of time travelers plus Vander, since he’s one of the original revolutionaries and everything directly involves him and his family.

The Tamed Hound

Silco knows that he has to do something about Vander, but he can't bring himself to kill the man. Not when he still holds affection for him, even after what he did. Plus, the man had children, two of whom were her children, which made things ten times more complicated. In the end, he decided on a plan that would bring the Hound to heel, boost his own reputation, and allow Vader the chance to stay by his side.

Silco kidnaps Powder first, as she's the smallest and easiest to grab without hurting her. He gives her a light sleeping drug and puts a shock collar on her before using her to force Vander and the other children to surrender themselves. They are all collared, and the children are put in a comfortable but locked room under guard. Vader is taken away by Silco for some much-needed conversation and... persuasion. By the time Silco is done with him, the Hound knows his position and is at least somewhat willing to cooperate. Silco knows this man almost better than he knows himself, and once Vader understands that he will be loved as Silco's pet and his children will be cared for, then he will work to keep himself here. That kind of loyalty is exactly what Silco needs to combat the Chem-barons.

Of course, first, he is going to have to deal with the early stages of fear and lashing out, especially from the children. None of the children are pleased to get their father back, bruised and limping and submissive in a way none of them had seen before. Violet is the first one to lash out, as expected, although Vander's warnings did keep her back for a few days. Unfortunately, she could only take so much watching Vader get humiliated before she snapped. He could see the fear in Vader's eyes when the girl was shocked. It was a light shock, just enough to stop her from punching his lights out like she had intended, but he knew that her cries affected the others nonetheless. He takes her away, ignoring the sting of Vander's fear. Normally, it was a balm on his traumatized soul, but right now, he could read Vader's fear like a book, and he did not like what he read. He made no move to soothe him, not while his followers surrounded them, but for once, he really wanted to. Part of him scoffed at the idea he knew was running through Vader's head that he would punish his daughter like he had punished him. He wanted to believe that Vander would never think that of him, but apparently, he had changed more than he had realized. Because while he could still read Vander like a book, Vander could no longer do the same with him. No matter, when the girl came back, untraumatized and in one piece, he would relax, and hopefully, his loyalty would further strengthen.

Shimmer Eyes (original notes)

Several people have time-traveled back into their past bodies. Vander is not one of those people, but he does become very concerned when Powder falls mysteriously ill. She's feverish, screaming, talking gibberish, and her eyes flash a sickening purple.

Her siblings are also very worried, but nothing they try makes her better. His patrons notice how stressed he is, but it isn't until Sevika catches wind of the state of his youngest that something comes of it. She goes into a strange frenzy, refusing to tell him what is going on, just insisting that she knows what is wrong with Powder. Vander doesn't trust her, but he's at his wit's end, so he doesn't punch her in the face when she bundles Powder into a blanket and takes off down the road. He couldn't make sense of what either of them were saying, Powder's feverish name-calling or Sevika's perfectly sober name-calling, but at least neither of them seemed distressed by being called Ogre and Jinx. He becomes more and more on edge as they make their way further into Silco's territory, but Powder is the most relaxed she's been in days once Sevika makes some comments about "going to help you feel better and making sure your Dad doesn't stab anybody." Vander didn't think he was known for stabbing people, but if it gave Powder some comfort, he didn't care.

Then they walk into a room with Silco, and he freezes. For a moment, Silco is frozen as well, staring into each other's eyes, but Sevika quickly intervenes. She shows Silco Powder's eyes with urgency, and Vander's panic goes up even further with Silco so close to his daughter. Especially when Silco's good eye widens in shock, and he traces Powder's face with something close to reverence.

The Eye's Hound

A world where Silco saw the letter but he and Vander are still not on the best of terms gets visitors. He is feared as the Eye of Zaun, and few people know that he no longer has the Hound by the leash. (And while I doubt he knows this, he definitely still has some control over the Hound. If he were to beg Vander for help, he would get it. Vander never stopped loving him, and would do almost anything to make it up to him.) He spends time with Powder the most, and she's the only one close enough to him to sass him fearlessly. Then Silco from another universe shows up. He's not from canon, but it is a bit of a closer timeline. There is some confusion about this older version of Silco, especially with his blatantly startled reaction to Vander, but they don't get very far before his Sevika shows up. She's also shocked by Vander, but quickly moves on and basically tells Silco to get his Fucking Dog. Silco whistles and Warwick comes barling in, a whirlwind of teeth, fangs, and claws. The people of that world are horrified to find out that this is Vader, or what is left of him, made into a literal hound for Silco's use.

Isha Bunny's Adventure

Isha ends up in a modern au. Since she's not in her alternate body it is not difficult to convince them that she is from an alternate universe. They care for her while they try and find a way to put her back, but the more they get to know her the less they want to send her back. They get her a talking tablet to help her communicate, and some of the things she says can be... concerning. Like talking about how hard Vader can hit, about being in the habit of watching his body language to make sure he wasn't upset, just in case she needs to dodge. She is, of course, referring to Warwick, who does not have full control over his bloodlust and actions, but they do not know this, and with Vader having had an instance of domestic violence in the past with Silco, he knows he is technically capable of hurting his family even if he loves them.

The Wolves of Warwick

Time/dimension travel causes the wolves involved in creating Warwick to suddenly gain a level of sentience they did not have before, along with an urge to protect their human pack. They still see Vader as one of them even though he is human and doesn't remember being Warwick with them, and therefore his cubs are their cubs. The wolves can speak, although it is in broken sentences like Warwick, and they don't typically talk to many others outside of their pack.

Vander is meeting up with some people to try and broker peace with the Uppercity. Of course, his wolves come with him. He was hoping they would work as intimidation and protection, but instead, they insist on gently kidnapping one of the Counciler's children.

Baby Blue Protocols

(Please note that this was written without having actually watched Arcane and before season 2 started.)

Becoming a father changes Silco in ways no one could have anticipated, certainly not himself. But it had changed him, and with that, it changed the underground. Silco by no means stopped being a dangerous man, but he focused more on making the world better for Jink than he did on his own goals. From there comes the Baby Blue Protocols. Silco comes to rule the underground even more than he did before, and with that comes the strict rule that nobody touches his daughter. Even those not directly under Silco's rule come to respect this. Things change as Jinx gets older and is able to defend herself; if she starts a fight, then of course, the other party can retaliate, but everyone still understands exactly who they are dealing with and who stands behind her.

Things get messy when time travel becomes involved.

Vander and Powder wake up in a version of the Lanes they don't recognize, and anyone who sees them coming immediately runs away. Even if they weren't faced with Vander back from the dead, nobody wants to deal with getting too close to Zaun's princess while she's so small and fragile. Eventually, Sevika shows up all grumpy about having to deal with this mess, grumbling about them scaring the shit out of half the Lanes and bringing them to Silco. Vader is, of course, on high alert, trying to be prepared for anything through his old heartbreak, but Silco is kind with Powder and cordial with him, if not a bit cold still, and Vander allows himself to relax slightly.

And then Jinx jumps down from the rafters, and things go to shit again.
