Where your favorite blogs come alive
Okay guys, this is my first drawing that I am posting! I’m so existed! Hope you like it!
It is Achilles (left) and Patroclus (right) inspired by The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller.
I’m really bad at hands and feet but the rest I am proud of.
I just read this book and loved it! If you need a book to read over the holidays here is a amazing one and will definitely give you some feels.
No but song of achilles hit so hard because it is patroclus telling achilles' story, his song, not that of his deeds, his glory, but the person that he was before and beneath that, it is the story of achilles as a man i- DON'T TOUCH ME I'M EMOTIONAL
“Name one hero who was happy”
“You can’t”
Tragedies are popular because they remind us of inevidable misfortune. The fact I love a book that hurts me is the fucking point and boy do I loathe it sometimes.
I just read The Song of Achilles and am dying. THEY DESERVED BETTER!!!

✧ all the stars - kendrick&sza ✧
"I thought of how many nights I had lain awake in this room, loving him in silence."
all the stars are closer i.e. achilles sleeping beside patroclus as the latter lay awake, yearning.
"We were like gods at the dawning of the world, and our joy was so bright we could see nothing else but the other."
the youthful notion that nothing would happen to them, when in fact they were running out of time. the way they were hauntingly obsessed with each other.
"....they never let you be happy and famous."
corrupt a man's heart with a gift i.e. achilles having enough strength to succumb to pride.
"If you have to go, you know I will go with you."
the fact that both achilles and patroclus didn't care about winning or losing at the end — they simply wanted each other.
"I wish he had let you all die."
"There are no bargains between lions and men. I will kill you and eat you raw."
the way achilles was always uncaring of others, uncaring of their views, their attitudes, aware of their lies, aware of their schemes, yet the only thing that mattered was patroclus.
"I would recognize you in total darkness, were you mute and I deaf. I would recognize you in another lifetime entirely, in different bodies, in different times. And I would love you in all of this, until the very last star in the sky burnt out into oblivion."
"I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.”
"I am made of memories."
"Go," she says. "He waits for you."
In the darkness, two shadows, reaching through the hopeless, heavy dusk. Their hands meet, and light spills in a flood like a hundred golden urns pouring out of the sun.
enough said.
Just finished reading the Symposium, in which a guy named Phaedrus claims that Aeschylus is ridiculous for believing that Achilles is the lover and Patroclus the beloved. (i.e. that Achilles tops.)
Phaedrus argues that Patroclus was the lover (the top) and Achilles the beloved (the bottom), as Patroclus was older and Achilles more beautiful.
seriously, the only consistent exceptions I have seen on this website are odypen, percabeth, and frazel, and getting rid of those would like trying to make patrochilles, solangelo, cherik, wolfstar, or johnlock platonic. it would just be wrong.
and as a straight cis classics major who just finished the iliad for the 100th time? yeah, there is no platonic explanation, those two are a love story to last for millennia and a tragedy to tear your heart just as long.
"Not every ship has to be gay!"
Girl you're using TUMBLR. THE gayland. What did you expect?
do you call it 'soulmate' or 'I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell; I would know him blind, by the way his breaths came and his feet struck the earth. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.'
“Showing Athena around the Greek Camp”
Recorded by Odysseus Laertides (1700 b.C.)
I swear, The Song of Achilles got me messes up in the head. It got my crying and depressed over what happned, like seriously....
And also Achilles and Patroclus love made my standard for love even more higher than before, I just want to be love, like how Patroclus loves Achilles. 😭😭😭😭!!
But it also made me think, that maybe I will never find my Achilles to my Patroclus.... anyway, I highly reccommend this book! It's great and the story is, mwah!
It hits you right with the feels!!
The Song Of Achilles, 15/10. Definetly reccommned! And it almost made me cry towards the end and when Patroclus ever wanted was to be by Achilles side.
Shit man, it punches you with the feels.
