A Fedal charity match in 2020!!!!!

Ohh this is so quintessentially them, with Roger all over Rafa, giggling, and Rafa teasing, saying, โ€œYou wonโ€™t remember, but I willโ€ - just the casual intimacy of that, of unconscious touches and genuine laughter, ending with Roger essentially saying, โ€œI donโ€™t miss those days, except I do, because of my rivalry with Rafa, how special that was.โ€ PLEASE.

These two... seriously

A few years ago Rafa did a feature on his website where he talked about some of the most important matches in his life. It was deleted when his website was updated but Iโ€™ve just found a copy of it!

Some highlights (all real quotes):

โ€œIn the semi-finals, I faced Federer, and it is true that I felt plethoric on clayโ€ฆ as true as the match seemed intimidating, I felt respect. I am not saying fear. Never. My start was explosive. I knew that Rogerio (as I friendly call him) was not used to hitting so high and would take a few games to get used to my lifting.โ€ - RG 05

โ€œAnother final against Federer. I correct. It is never โ€˜anotherโ€™, it is never โ€˜one moreโ€™. Every meeting is the first and the last, and this would be no exception: a victory of sweat and courage, with flashes of great tennis.โ€ - Monte Carlo 06

โ€œI jumped on to court in front of more than 15,000 people. I looked at my parents and then at Federer. I was ready, or that is what I thought. Roger gave me a real thrashing in the first set. He soon got 5-0 up, and showed tremendous solvency and serenity: drives along the line, a concluding, resolving backhand at the net.โ€ โ€œFederer is not only a champion, but also a gentleman and an elegant rival. He did not try to humiliate me, he did not draw blood. I donโ€™t think he wanted to win like that against a frightened opponent who hardly put up any resistance. He wanted to win against Rafa Nadal.โ€ - RG 06

โ€œI know Federer beat me in the final, although as far as I am concerned, I played the best tennis of my career. Wimbledon was Rogerioโ€™s garden, his private domain. He strolled around the court sweeping away any opponent who dared to tread on his grass with overwhelming superiority.โ€ โ€œThe game that Fed-Ex develops on grass isโ€ฆ well, you know what I am talking about. I am not going to write an ode (he has got his own web for that, hasnโ€™t he? ;-D) though sometimes I felt the impulse to stay there watching his technique.โ€ โ€œRoger, an extraordinary fellow with or without his racquet, spared me no praise in his declarations, congratulating me for a great match and addressing me a few words that consoled any twinge of disappointment, โ€˜you also deserved it.โ€™โ€ - Wimbledon 07

โ€œI am not capable of putting into words what this victory meant to me. Maybe I need perspective, maybe I still havenโ€™t taken it in. Since I came on to the professional circuit, even before his, I related the word โ€˜Wimbledonโ€™ with 'Roger Federerโ€™. It is something subconscious and automatic: the All Englandโ€™s Club court is something like his garden.โ€ โ€œNothing around me was important, time stopped, the voices faded and the stands were no more than mist. Roger and I were alone.โ€ โ€œI was aware that Roger and I had just played the best tennis match of all time; that I had just won the most prestigious tournament on the circuit; thatโ€ฆ I had made my dream come true.โ€ - Wimbledon 08

Rafa just wants to spend time with Roger

Well after his exhibition match against Casper in Colombia, in the on court interview apparently Rafa said he wished he can play there once with Roger (and then the audience went bonkers with scream and claps).

It's probably being brought up by the interviewer but still...this is like a plea for Roger (currently way across the globe for Moet & Chandon event).

WHY DO THEY KEEP DOING THIS TO OUR RAFAEL GUYS THIS IS HEARTBREAKING ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Rafael Nadalย โ€”Roland Garros, 2006

โ€œFirst I would also like to congratulate Roger, not only for this final [but also because]ย heโ€™s the most incredible rival Iโ€™ve faced in my life. Heโ€™s practically the best player in history. Iโ€™ve never seen such a complete player since I was born and the truth is, I only have words of congratulations, not only for this tournament, but for everything heโ€™s been doing in recent years.โ€
