Ooh I voted for Sky lol. I really hope the Demise thing is a huge thing with the Chain. Because they all know that it isn't really Sky's fault. They've grown so close during this adventure and they all genuinely care about each other and Sky is no exception. But how are they supposed to move past the fact that one of their own is the reason behind all of their traumas and heartbreaks and the pain of not only themselves and everyone they love but also their Hyrules?

This reincarnation curse is the reason why Time lost 7 years of his life and came back to see his Hyrule under Ganondorf's control. It's the reason why Legend has never known peace. It's the reason why Hyrule panics when he's injured. It's the reason why Twilight lost Midna (even if she came back it still matters). It's the reason why Wind lost Aryll (even if he eventually found her at the end). It's the reason why Warriors was betrayed. It's the reason why Wild died.

And it's not too far of a stretch to assume that this whole thing coming back up is going to affect Sky, too. It's going to bring up all of the ugly things that happened on his own adventure that led to that final confrontation with Demise. He's been carrying that alone for a long time and the truth is heavy. It's not a reach to assume that the rest of the Chain is going to be angry and I think it's better if there is at least a bit of tension.

It's a messy situation and everyone's suffered from this secret and I think that's the reason why it matters more than Time's Fierce Deity mask. Yes, it's Sky's trauma but it fundamentally shaped the lives of literally every single person in the timeline after the Skyward Sword era. The reincarnation cycle defines every Link and every Zelda and the Hyrules that suffer as a consequence of their eternal fight against evil. I'm not saying that trauma can be measured or compared but this secret is going to have bigger consequences than Time's.

THIS IS NOT CENSORED OOCCA. IT’S HOW SKY IS PICTURING IT FROM TWILIGHT’S DESCRIPTION.

This is Sky imagining what Twilight is describing.

Of course it doesn’t look exactly like an Oocca, Sky has only Twilight’s vague description to go off of. Twilight says it’s got a bird body like a cucco, and a longer neck and a person head. That’s it. That’s probably what I would picture too if I didn’t know what the Oocca look like! You wouldn’t know they have... uh, you know. Everything else. Because Twilight didn’t mention it.

And if you look at an actual picture of an Oocca too, you can see the one Sky is picturing is missing other details too; the facial structure is more masculine, the nose is too big and it appears to have actual eyebrows, and it’s got cheekbones too. They’re not supposed to be the same. It’s just Sky’s weird mental image of what Twilight told him.

This has probably already been done but my solution to having a list of stuff to do this weekend written out in front of me with nothing checked off was to make a low effort meme. Let's pretend the oocca is a manifestation of time (no not Time I'm talking about tick-tock two hands Time).

Also I really love how out of context you could totally look at this scene and see Twilight trauma dumping his entire life on Sky in the first panel, slowly letting his brain catch up to what he's just revealed in the second panel, and then the third panel is just Sky giving the obligatory "um, have you talked to someone about this?" in which the answer is usually some form of "nah it's fine" and then dead silence for a good five minutes.

I love how warriors is the one who always asks paramedic-style questions when someone’s hurt

He’s asking questions not just to distract, but to see how bad the wound has impacted mental functioning “maybe we should be worried, because that’s not what I asked”

Calling by name to draw attention, asking easy questions…

Like look at his face in each panel, how closely he’s watching while talking to assess the damage

He’s always the one taking action in first aid (though obviously he can’t do magic stuff like hyrule but outside of that it’s him)

Wars is a captain, he’s trained and has had to take care of wounded, so he knows how to take care of not only the physical but the mental impact of injuries as well, and he always comes through for it.

I just kinda think that’s pretty cool

It's my first time being here on tumblr for a Linked Universe update and oh my gods. I cannot express how incredible it is to see so many people just geeking out over this? I've definitely echo-chambered myself into this slice of the internet but either way, this is such a cool thing we've all got going on here and I wanted to put that thought out into the world. Yes I'm still quite new to tumblr but this community is the reason why I want to be here and contribute to it in the ways that I can. Props to @linkeduniverse for bringing so many people together with this masterpiece. And props to EVERYONE who's been here in the past 9 hours reblogging the update, writing character analyses, making memes, reacting, and just generally being excited about this. And not only for Linked Universe but also thank you to everyone in this corner of the fandom world making goddamn amazing fanfiction, art, comics, headcanons, memes, and everything that I missed.

I aspire for my headcanons to look like this one day. Well thought out, deeply personal, and organized. Not the disaster that is my mind just going ‘hey you know what would be really funny…’ but those thoughts are also fun ig.

So I know your autistic Wild (my beloved) has Brenda and Brenda the second for soft friends, does he have any other soft friends?

Do you have any autistic or other neruodivergent head canons for the other Links? (Even if it's just what kinds of things you think they might have for special interests)

He has SO MANY soft friends. I also imagine Flora has a lot too, especially ones with scented things inside- they help her feel grounded when she dissociates or is remembering things related to the Calamity. Their beds in their house (separate beds in the same room on the loft) and their couch are just filled with soft friends. None are as special as the Brenda’s, of course.

I think each culture throughout Hyrule would have a different kind of most common toy and most common stuffed toy. Once everyone figured out how much Wild loves soft friends, they always gifted him one when he helped out the town. Wild loves this so much. The first time it happened he cried from overwhelming emotions of happy and grateful and feeling loved and appreciated.

I definitely like to imagine all of the Links as neurodivergent. When I have them rotating in my head I like to give them different diagnoses to ✨spice things up✨ and get more diversity in there. Here are the ones I usually give to each Link:

Sky: autism, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyslexia

^there is a series I follow of Sky with epilepsy, and I also really love that headcanon

Time: autism, Tourette’s syndrome

Twilight: depression and anxiety disorders

Wind: Down syndrome

Alternatively for Wind: FASD

Wild: autism

Hyrule: ADHD, CPTSD

Four: synesthesia, OCD, sometimes DID

Legend: borderline personality disorder

Warriors: PTSD, anxiety disorder

When I have them as all autistic, here are what I imagine their special interests are:

Time: masks (as a child, not so much anymore), cows, had memorized every dad joke to ever exist

Sky: bugs and birds :). In Skyloft birds was mainly just Loftwings, but then when he discovered all the birds on the surface it became all birds. He single-handedly catalogues and describes all the surface birds.

Warriors: battle strategizing, sewing

Wind: sailing, pirates, also characters from a storybook his Grandma used to read to him and Ayrll every single night (at Wind's insistence)

Wild: cooking, horses, cataloguing plants in the sheikah slate

Legend: magical items, jewelry (jewelry with magical properties are the COOLEST SHIT)

Hyrule: biology/anatomy, and there's a series of books they once found in an abandoned town that they LOVE. Books are hard to come by in their era so those are their absolute most prized possession

Twilight: goats, wolves. He knows every. Single. Fact.

Four: clocks, tools. Four wants collect every tool in existence, and wants to know exactly what it does. Especially blacksmithing tools, bc Four also really likes blacksmithing

New Wild Headcanon: Sound Sensitivity

(Works for LU Wild or just BotW Link in general.)

Ok so, Wild’s Hyrule is kinda empty compared to some of the others. Wild’s used to silence and quietness which leaves me to think that he would probably be sound sensitive. Yes, there is a few towns in BotW that are kind of big, but it doesn’t really get as big as what we see Castle Town used to be, or even the castle itself.

So, if Wild took a trip to Time’s Castle Town for instance, Wild could get a bit overwhelmed by all the sound. (Also to LU Wild, his damaged ear might be sensitive, even if it is fully healed.) He’d probably express needing to get a breath of fresh air (No pun intended-) to one of the others and find a more quiet spot to calm down. What do you guys think?

Did not expect Warriors to be first and Wild to be in the middle. Kinda expected the opposite tbh but they’re both kinda my favorites so it’s ok. But also. Sky??? What happened to you??? Huh?????

the stats have probably changed a bit since then, but I made a pie chart and thought I’d post it. happy to say that the pie chart makes me happy. it’s good to know that our boys are getting similar amounts of love that they all deserve 🫶

i used a pie chart maker online, and then went on procreate to make the colors fit their character! looks pretty cool if you ask me :D 😎

I'm considering jumping on the chronic illness/asthma train for Sky and writing a fic for it based on me fucking dying on a hike but I don't know how the hell I'd tag it. I don't actually know if I have asthma (not actually a long story but tldr I'm an idiot) or any respiratory problems at all and hey, I'm probably just out of shape and shit right? So yeah, does anyone have any advice for a confused fic writer?

Wild is about to get the Time rant of a lifetime but he’ll be cackling inside the whole time

In Wild’s Hyrule, Wild decided to start fake coughing, and he fell on the floor and he was screaming in “pain,” and then on the Sheikah Slate, he teleported to a shrine nearby:

They were walking the dueling peaks. “Wild you’re Hyrule is truly beautiful” Time smiles. Wild wasn’t paying attention, he had his eyes on a shrine. Wild coughs and leans against the mountain “F-fuck” he says as he coughs more, he falls to his knees. Warriors runs over “Champion! Hey, Look at me!” He panics, but he’s keeping calm. “Where does it hurt?” He holds Wild up by his shoulders. “Feels like-” cough “I getting ripped to shreds…” Wild says in faux pain. “Hey listen to me, you’re going to be okay” Warriors shakes him lightly. Suddenly Wild’s hands turn bright blue, then his arms, soon his entire body was bright blue, his body turns into blue string as it floats up. “WILD!?” Twilight runs over “FUCK!”. “What happened?” Wind looks over. “What the- Captain what-” Time walks over. “He- he just disappeared- I don’t know-” Warriors shakes “What- what happened-”. Captain burties his face in his hands. “Oi! Up here!” Wild yells, everyone looks up and sighs, however the old man is fuming. “WILD GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE” Time screams. “Shit-” Wild takes out his sheikah slate “how ‘bout no! I’ll see you in Hateno! Just fallow the path you’ll find a stable there!” he teleports again.

The inflation in Hyrule’s Hyrule do be crazy this time of year.

I always find it difficult when drawing Sky Child. He has a unique design. If his eyes were a different shape, his bangs above his left eye weren't short, then my brain wouldn't recognize him as Sky, and I would redo the sketch.
