Where your favorite blogs come alive
Shows what I know, I'd barely even heard of this Kent dude (Gothamites' reputations for being a little too focused on our own backyard isn't all that exaggerated, I guess), but I've for sure heard of Lois Lane. You're right, her and her husband have some really great articles.
I especially liked her 'Superheroes, hold the Superpowers: ordinary people hitting in the big leagues' write up. I've always figured our own heroes were a pack of metas, but she makes a compelling case that the Bats might be using gadgets and gizmos. If you're uncomfortable speculating on IDs I'd love to hear your thoughts on how they're pulling off league-level fighting sans powers (Nightwing at least has to have some sort of gravity shift, right?). Either way thanks for the answer :D
Love the blog, just wondering what your take is on the 'Superman has a secret identity' theory that makes headlines every so often when the tabloids run out of other stories? Usually with their fave celeb as the culprit. I usually find that part in bad taste. Everyone has a right to privacy, what if a supervillain actually believes that hogwash, etc. Although as for the latest one it was great that Mr. Wane ran with it and wore blue for a week to raise money for disaster relief. If nothing else his now-viral remarks to Luthor about how 'if he was superman, your buildings would have been redesigned via accidental super fight collateral damage a decade ago, my god man hire a better architect' made for satisfying watching for LexCorp's many critics.
Luthor's the most outspoken disbeliever of that theory, maintaining that the most powerful 'man' in the world, with his own known private hideout in the Arctic, would have no reason to run around pretending to be a normal human. Bruce Wayne might be kind of a dim bulb, but he had a point when he told whatever poor sod from the Daily Planet was covering the Metropolis Spring Gala that Superman seems too personable (at least from interviews and eyewitness accounts) to be anything other than 'just some guy.'
So on the spectrum between the two billionaires what's your take? Does the Man of Steel walk amongst us? If he does, who would he even be when he's not wearing the cape?
Without even having to THINK about it very hard I would come down on Wayne's side in this particular debate just because I don't trust Lex Luthor as far as I could throw him and I have a MUCH higher opinion of Bruce Wayne as, I can imagine, does anyone with some combination of a heart, soul or a brain. As far as the hypothesis goes, it's pretty much confirmed by the Man of Steel himself. He's given multiple interviews where he has shared the outline of his origins and while most people focus on the fact that he's the last son of the lost planet Krypton what he does also say in those interviews is that he was discovered by a human couple and raised as their own in the manner of a normal human child. Now of course he has never shared ANY particular details about his 'foster parents' because any stray detail could be traced back to them but that pretty much seals the deal doesn't it? If he was raised by humans, one would imagine that he went to school, had dreams, wanted a job and a house and a social life and all those things that human beings get used to having and wanting. Anytime we don't see him directly in action we have to imagine it's because he's out there...doing whatever it is he does during the day! That being said I don't think I can, nor will I, speculate as to who or what he might be in that life behind the scenes. It's none of my business, it is none of the WORLD'S business and nothing good could ever come from finding out. What I will say is that I do not believe for a SECOND the most tired and well trodden theory on the subject.
(Bruce Wayne meeting with Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent) Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent is NOT Superman, people come on! It just doesn't add up to the facts. Clark Kent had a totally average childhood, more or less. He was born in the small hamlet of Smallville, Kansas to Jonathan and Martha Kent which is disproving enough in and of itself. Superman has stated he was obviously a foster child. Clark Kent is, by all records, his parents' biological child. There are records of his attendance of school, vaccination records, his journalism diploma, the whole nine yards. There are two main reasons this story remains so popular. In Superman's orbit he is the one who most resembles Superman...in that he is a dark haired white guy with blue eyes and a strong chin. Analysis on his posture and his gait have shown that he doesn't move or articulate like Superman as you would know if you have ever watched the man on television, read or listened to his writing or just been aware of him as a public figure in Metropolis for YEARS. I still get the Planet here in New York just because him and his wife are some of the best journalists I've ever read. And in that is the other reason, his wife, the world renowned Lois Lane who in the early years of Superman's career had a public infatuation and casual romance with the Man of Steel. Many people got very attached to this public love affair and have never quite forgiven Lane for her public "break up" with Superman in the aftermath of her engagement to Clark Kent. This is just real people shipping for all its nonsense, Kent doesn't have to be Superman for Lane to have married him. Lane and Kent have been partners in crime for basically Kent's entire career and maybe Lane just decided she loved Kent more strongly, or that Superman was unattainable, or any one of ten billion other reasons that don't have shit to do with me or anyone else. Kent and Lane's marriage has also put the inevitable final coffin in the theory with the birth of their son Jonathan who by all accounts is exactly as human as his father. Ignoring all the times and in all the ways that Superman and Kent have been filmed or photographed in the same place because Superman and Kent have been close friends for a very long time because Superman is publically very close with a large group of the Daily Planet's staff ever since his first appearance in Metropolis. Bottom line, yes, I believe that Superman spends his 'nights' as a normal human somewhere on this big blue marble. But his only distinguishing features are that he's a white man with dark hair and strong shoulders. He could hide that with a big enough coat.
also not to derail anything but when i saw the cover and the fact that the other guy has pink hair i got reminded of the pink kryptonite that made superman gay and i can't stop thinking about it
After Conner finds out about where the other half of his DNA came from, once he knows that Superman might actually find a valid way to hate him one day, it would have been easy for Lex to slip into the shadows and leave the secrets Conner learned to torment him.
He doesn’t.
Instead he starts to visit. He texts Conner and asks if he would like to go to a diner after school. He calls Conner to ask how his day’s going. He smiles when Conner tells him that he taught Wolf a new trick.
If Conner didn’t know better, he might think that Lex was trying to parent him.
He assumes that Cadmus must have gotten something wrong. He guesses that he misunderstood what it meant when they put the thought that ‘parents look out for you and give you advice and forgive you when you yell at them’ because if he didn’t then-
Then Lex Luthor would be a significantly better dad than Superman. Which wouldn’t make sense. At all.
~
After about a month of visits and kind words and pats on the shoulder that make Conner feel embarrassed but so full of happiness he might burst, he decides to confess to the team. Partly because he hates lying to them more than anything in the world. Partly because he knows this is wrong and he knows that he has to stop before he says something he shouldn’t and screws everything up but if he’s ever going to stop he needs someone to tell him he has to.
So he confesses. And very pointedly doesn’t look at anyone as he waits for them to start yelling.
“But-” starts Artemis, soft in a way Conner’s never associated with her before, “but you’ve been happier.”
He finally looks up and instead of angry they just look sad and understanding and Conner loves all of them so much.
“Conner,” Kaldur says, calm and measured, “If Lex Luthor is your blood, and you want to get to know him, I don’t think that any of us would feel comfortable taking that away from you.”
Wally steps forward like he wants to reach out. “We all have adults we can talk to about all of this, it’s not fair that you don’t. We won’t tell on you man.”
Conner squeezes his eyes shut because if he keeps looking at all their earnest faces he might start crying.
“I’d never-” he struggles to get the words out, “I’d never choose him over any of you. I like him and sometimes he feels important to me in a weird way. But he’s nothing compared to you guys.”
“We know.” M’gann says.
‘We know’, they all say with their trust and their kindness and all the ways they’ve tried to make him feel at home since they came together.
Before he can leave to calm down somewhere with fewer people and more things to break he’s swamped by a tangle of limbs and reassurance and forgets why he wanted to leave anyway.
He really does have the best family.
In young justice lex and conner should have had the same relationship as danny and vlad in danny phantom in this essay i will-

Challenges will be won, hearts will be broken, and lasting friendships will be made. Doesn't it feel so good to be bad?
The Brainz
These villains are far smarter than they are strong, though that doesn't mean that they can't put up a good fight.
Superman: Childish Things - Cast
Winslow & Mary Schott used to be the happiest toy makers in Britain, and were even the heads of their own company: Schott Toys. Winslow himself was a mechanical genius, as many of the toys he designed were extremely advanced twists on older concepts, such as the Smart Teddy. Winslow also had a strong love of children, and was essentially a big child himself. Unfortunately, all happy days come to an end. After Mary was killed in a car crash, Winslow signed on with a big corporation in order to bring happiness to children all over the world. Unfortunately, that company turned out to be a subsidiary of Lexcorp, who secretly sold Schott's advanced toy designs to weapons manufacturers. Heartbroken & enraged when he found out, an already mentally unwell Winslow snapped. In revenge, he mailed a booby trapped teddy bear to the executive who cheated him. When he turned it on, the bear exploded, killing him instantly. Winslow then moved to Metropolis in order to get revenge on the head of the corporation: Lex Luthor. Unfortunately, Superman had to intervene. After first being captured, Winslow befriends another Superman villain, Oswald Loomis: The Prankster. Forming a partnership, the two break out of prison in order to kill Lex Luthor while distracting the Man Of Steel.
Justice League: Injustice - Cast (Part 1)
Set 1 year after Superman and Batman joined together to form the Justice League, Lex Luthor decides to even the playing field by forming a league of his own. He thus travels across the world, offering a spot to any of the super-villains on the FBI's most wanted list. He winds up recruiting The Joker, Reverse Flash, Cheetah, Black Manta, Dr. Poison & Scarecrow. Together, the legion plans to take out the Justice League and rule the world (of course). Each of them has a vital part in Lex's master plan to destroy, or at least disgrace the Justice League. Using Reverse Flash's speed, they're able to gain access to the Batcave, and manage to acquire Batman's files on the Justice League, containing everything from strengths to weaknesses.
Part 2
Clark, Lois, and Jimmy found themselves atop the roof of a generic skyscraper (very illegally) twenty minutes later. A man was there, and he looked nervous- not just about the height.
He jumped as the three reporters clambered over the top of the highest window and onto the roof.
"Why did we have to meet here?" Jimmy asked. "It seems... overly dangerous."
"Had to... had to find a covert location. Luthor has eyes all over the city. This place... it's an old tradition, ever since it was built. No cameras up here, ever. And clearly there aren't any people. Ronald Hart, by the way." The small, mostly bald man chuckled nervously. He looked a bit stressed. You probably can't imagine why.
Clark stayed clear of the edge. He might be able to fly, but he wasn't keen on his friends and Mr. Hart knowing that.
"Mr. Hart, you told us you had concrete proof of corruption at Lexcorp?" Lois asked.
"Yes, that's right." he said, as if he had forgotten for a moment what he was doing on top of an eleven- story skyscraper. He shakily removed a small file folder from the back of his coat. "It's all in here. In you hand now. I need to go."
Even Lois didn't try to pry. They helped him back into the top floor, and all took separate elevators down, except Clark and Lois, since there were only three elevators.
Clark, after tripping and grabbing the elevator handrail for support, cleared his throat awkwardly.
"So... Lois. Any... particular plans this weekend?"
"Not sure." she answered." Depends on what it takes to get the dirt." she pulled out the folder and opened it curiously. As soon as she saw what was inside, she gasped. Quickly, she passed it over to her fellow reporter to show him the shocking news. As soon as they arrived at the first floor, they ran to show Jimmy.
"But..." he said. "This makes no sense. I saw that guy on TV just last week."
"I guess... I guess it wasn't her" Clark answered. They were all much more subdued as they rode the bus back to the Daily Planet.
To be continued.

1. Bruce Wayne’s past (I’m glad that they didn’t drag his past over and over again. It was amazing scene with great cinematography!) 2. Granny’s peach tea (do I even have to add anything?) 3. Lex’s file of the League members (the cameos!!) 4. Batman’s fight scene (in warehouse) 5. Superman vs Doomsday (both on land and outer space) 6. Wonder Woman!! (Especially her lasso)
I have so much more but those were the best 6
The Granny’s peach tea scene was SO INTENSE!!! This is new level of evil! It blew me away the worries of Jesse
May contain some spoilers, but not that much
It was a good movie! It wasn’t the greatest, but it was good!
I sort of worried about Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, but I got chills from the scene where he threatens the Senetor. He was a psychotic villain rather than a stoic villain like the comics, but sure he was very evil and cunning
I pitied Superman in this entire movie. He was a real and true superhero with righteousness. Really loved him. Leave this man alone
Personally, I think I enjoyed Ben Affleck’s role as Bruce Wayne more than Batman, but his fighting scenes and gadgets were mesmerising
Wonder Woman had the shortest role in the movie but definately the most remarkable one. I squeaked when she used the lasso
The cameos, as we know, they appeared for like 4 seconds each, (Aquaman was the shortest, Cyborg’s scene was quite long, but he didn’t do anything, Flash had the longest with two scenes, and it was my favourite!)
The only thing I had to comment was there wasn’t a lot of scenes where Superman and Batman actually fight unlike the title. It was more like a movie for introducing the Justice League with a little attachment of Bats and Supes fighting and return of Wonder Woman
Batman: I hate you
Superman: I hate you too
Doomsday: Hi
Batman&Superman: Oh shit
Wander women: Hi
Batman&Superman: ??
A little preview of my fancomic about Conner.
I don't know if I'll be able to finish that project. It's definitely not perfect and it's taking me so much time but writing the script definitely brought me joy and I just had to share it.
Definitely a good training anyway.
When your dad wants you to not look like a hoodrat and a trouble maker... but you're actually a punk.
(I may have developped an addiction for these two, ngl. I always loved Lex Luthor even when I was a kid and my new discovery of the real Conner is making my brain filled with ideas. I'll make a post later to explain all my headcanons for them.)
Bonus:
Is Lex being supportive or manipulative? Who knows...
Father and son preparing themselves for a big gala to present the new LexCorp Superman to the public... but Conner is panicking.
Ah, but you see:
1. Any man can go out and buy one cake and spend something like US$12 on a cake, but it takes a man of true genius and cunning to steal US$480 worth of cake and not even get a police reprimand.
2. For Lex, it’s not enough that he has forty cakes. EVERYONE ELSE MUST HAVE ZERO CAKES!!!
I'm on the Smallville bandwagon, and I'm currently on season 7. I've seen some posts that find it unbelievable that people weren't interested in and crazy in love with Clark and stuff. I'm convinced that people stayed away from him because they thought he was crazy, or was that guy that always had something weird happening to him. It's obvious that Clark is attractive, but there's also another side to it besides his looks.
Clark would find himself in situations that would make people scratch their heads. Put yourselves in the perspective of the Smallville citizens.
I'm going to give some examples from season 1 (can't remember which episode)
Clark's powers get transferred to another boy named Eric Summers, and once Eric finds out about these abilities he exploits them. Clark tries to talk Eric into not being a bad person, and that ends with Clark getting smashed into the top of a car, bleeding from his nose and all. A lot of his school mates saw that, and word apparently travels fast in small towns. Everyone certainly found out.
In another episode, Earl Jenkins (played by Tony Todd) is a victim of the Luthors, and while Clark's class is on a school trip, the character holds the students hostage in order to threaten the Luthors. Whatever experiments Luthor corp did on him makes him shake violently, and anything he comes into contact with will shake uncontrollably as well (can't remember if it results in death). It's best to stay away from this guy. What does Clark do? Try's to speak to the guy and convince him not to do this, and stuff like that. Basically, the same thing he did with Eric Summers. It doesn't get him heavily injured, but it could've made things worse.
Clark would also go through a thing where his personality flips. Not knowing he's on red kryptonite, everyone probably felt like they were interacting with a completely different person, but with Clark's face. Everyone's just like "Clark Kent is letting his intrusive thoughts win?" And he would mysteriously forget what's transpired (due to switching bodies or his mind being taken over). He would be genuinely confused, and is frighteningly proceeding as if nothing's happened, despite being aware that something wrong has taken place, thanks to him or involving him.
When Clark accidentally causes his mum's miscarriage, the first thing he does is crashout. He puts on the red kryptonite and rides of to Metropolis. I'm pretty sure he was gone for months, robbing from atms and getting into fights with people.
When Nathan Dean (the banshee guy) showed up (around season 3-ish), Clark lost his sight temporarily... even though it's everyone's ears that suffered. That's weird.
Onwards, Clark would suspiciously be at the scene of a crime or some kind of incident. He's always involved in police business, and playing "investigator" with Chloe and Pete. Always on his way to save people, and do something that everyone will immediately think is stupid.
Around season 3 or 4, Clark marries Alicia. A literal stalker who tried to harm Lana Lang (the it girl of Smallville). Once he comes back from his honeymoon, looking all guilty, everyone whispers while side eyeing him. And of all things Mr and Mrs Kent are mad about, it's the fact that Clark married illegally (both Alicia and him were underage), and that he disregarded how sacred marriage is (even though he was on red kryptonite). That was terrible writing, but I don't remember them being too angry about Alicia.
There's also that time (can't remember if it was season 5 or 6) when Clark and Lois crash Lex and Lana's dinner party where they're celebrating their engagement. Clark and Lois are dressed as bikers, informal leather jacket outfits. They must've looked insane to everyone at that party, Lex especially. And then Clark proceeded to ruin the pregnancy announcement for Lex and Lana (he did it for the lolz).
Every time Clark is doing (or about to do) something everyone is probably side eyeing him, and thinking "What's he about to do this time?"
What's worse is that his parents don't seem to be doing anything about it. They don't appear to be worried about the fact that he might potentially be having occasional psychotic breaks, and other mental disorders going on with him. He's got main character syndrome, and a hero complex. Insert other mental disorders and illnesses of your choosing, because I'm not a psychiatrist nor am I trained in knowing about mental health.
If the writers intended on this, knowing that they couldn't make Tom Welling look like a pathetic dork, then it's a good call. Can't make him dweebish? Make him look insane. Even if Clark was a nerd, and looked like one, everyone would still be fawning over him (me especially). But fawning over a crazy person is risky because of how unpredictable they are. Not only that, but we've seen girls fawn over him before, albeit harbouring bad intent (to some degree for most). And of course, Chloe was super interested in him, and Lana would get jealous and shocked from whatever relationship he had outside of her, even when she was with another guy.
That's my Smallville theory.
