HAPPY BIRTHDAY @yeastpanini!!! đđ
Drew the prequels gang bc they deserve to nap together and your designs always make me happy!
E1 with Channis and D12 with Trevize!
lets go!!!! (theyre silly)
from this expression meme - give me a character and an expression to draw â¨
I've been working on an Han Pritcher redesign and the group came up with this concept.
Concept that Pritcher and Channis wake up extremely early to get ready for the day and then put on each other make up, Magnifico walks in and goes "Damn Pritcher you were supposed to fight him, not making him look pretty" and Proceeds to joins them and puts on his clown make up.
We said what we said
had a category 5 dors venabili moment yesterday, take these (credit to @yeastpanini @larmegliamori for their designs!)
Also ft. Dors in the actor AU. She does stunts <3
Just finished Foundation by Isaac Asimov. You know how I mentioned in a previous post how he has just some of the weirdest names and it makes it hard to take certain characters seriously despite what they do in the text? Well, I present to you the spectrum of how Hober Mallow is seen based on his name, his ego, his public persona and how he acts around his friend.
Featuring some of my funky little doodles of the trader mayor of Anacreon.
*Opens a list of most iconic moments in Asimov's Sci-fi novels*
" 'Can we help you keep the computer company?', 'I would put my hand on your thigh', 'It is nice here under the bed'... Ah yes..."
It's been a while since I finished drawing something, I think it was April the last time? Things have been going meh but hey! At least now it's pride month! Your local creature wishes you all a nice time celebrating pride and remember to celebrate who you are the rest of the year as well, alright?
About the illustration itself, sometimes I kinda feel like my artstyle makes everything look like a cartoon
And dare I say, rest in piece Golan Trevize, Asimov didn't let you smooch Pel
never getting over Dors casually dropping the most precise description of foundation era Daneel: âThe trouble with him is heâs so used to knowing, he sometimes forgets that others occasionally donât knowâ
The ladies love him for his inferiority complex, megalomania and intensely psychopathic paranoia đ
So, do you remember that art poll, a couple months ago, where you asked to see a Greek pottery-style Dors?
Well, here she finally is!
(Some commentary under the cut. Feel free to skip, but if you like the drawing please like, leave a comment or reblog! It means the world to me đ)
Well, after almost ten hours of work... here it is! My aim was to only use black and red/ocre-ish color used in Ancient Greek pottery, which turned out for what is basically a second attempt! In terms of drawing style though, I steered towards another direction and, for the pose and clothes, I drew inspiration from a 1797 painting of Clio, the Muse of History. This reference just seemed fair to me: after all, Dors being a historian is one of her most prominent character traits, and a lovely one at that. The Muse's traditional attributes of tablet and stylus, pictured in the reference portrait, fit her character so I decided to keep them. The laurel crown was also referenced from the painting and, although it's not traditional, I kept it mostly because I associate Dors with leaf and/or flower patterns. After all, she's the Gift of Spring! I also decided to give one of her drapes a striped pattern, to recall her nickname, "The Tiger Woman". Last but not least, I decided to play around with shadows a bit, mostly on the draperies. Certainly not something you can find on pottery, but nevertheless a nice touch.
Congrats if you've made it so far! I hope you've enjoyed this piece, and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it.
Sometimes I think about that one bit in "The Robots of Dawn" where Daneel explains to Elijah that on Aurora there are Specialized Robots to raise kids, and neither him or Giskard have that ability. And then I think that Giskard sort of raised Vasilia.
Imagine when Vasilia was really tiny, Han Fastolfe going to Giskard "Oh I'm going a few days out for a scientific Conference please keep an eye on Vasilia" and Giskard Panicking. Fastolfe comes back home three days later and Giskard is now "Babysitter Supreme"
Hari: Wanna play 20 questions?
Dors: Sure thing! What's your favorite color?
Hari: Triangle
Can I put my hand on your thigh?
Hari âI-would-put-my-hand-on-your-thigh" Seldon
Imagine being organic even đ
Imagine having a physical body.

Shout out to everyone for doing such different yet awesome designs!
Mule drawing practice bc there are so many cool interpretations for him!!
Credit to @dasha-ko-art @hazeism @yeastpanini @barbwalken for the designs!
Remembering how Dors says to Hari âDon't use your chivalry on me" when they're discussing about Billibotton. This implies not only the existence of a feudal system in the Galactic Empire, but also of chivalric romances. Therefore, Dors might have reade Space Orlando Furio-[BLASTER SHOT]
This is now the quadruple funny since I got a friend from the scout group to read it
Me: Oh, so you're reading Caves of Steel? Drink something everytime Elijah gets called "Lije".
My sister, reading the first six lines: THAT'S NOT FUNNY
Reminds me of one time that a friend of mine was like "I don't like books where everything is too easy for the protagonist" and I was like "Oh you'd like The Caves of Steel, the protagonist gets the case wrong not once but twice" and he goes "What happens? Twice?" and This sends off me making a two minutes long message explaining the plot
Some mystery writers suffer from making their detective characters too inhumanly clever, with flawless and logical reasoning.
Asimov never made that mistake. He really just had Elijah Baley go in front of the chief of police, point at his android partner, and say âThis man is no robot! He faked his own murder and is now pretending to be a robot! I know this because I peeped on him in the bathroom and his penis was incredibly lifelike. No one would give a robot such a realistic penis!â and then has a panic attack and passes out when he finds out that the genitals heâd been ogling were not, in fact, genuine human flesh and his robot partner is made entirely of metal.
I havenât picked a book apart in a while, so have some mildly-disjointed thoughts on Asimov & Silverbergâs 1989 novel, mostly focused on the somewhat-ropey astronomy, but looking at a few other things as wellâŚ

Book cover assignment for class, we had three short scifi stories to choose from and I chose Isaac Asimovâs âNightfallâ. đ´đ
I canât remember which novel JR said influenced the world of S6, but I was recently reminded of Asimovâs Nightfall and wonder whether its eclipse narrative might have some bearing on the plot âŚ
[Spoilers for Nightfall ahead â highly recommend you read the story (itâs short!)]
For anyone not familiar, Nightfall is set on a planet with six suns - enough suns that the planet never experiences darkness. Every 2000 years or so, the suns and the planetâs moon align just so, and an eclipse occurs. And every 2000 years, something cataclysmic occurs that ends civilization. The only records of the event are embedded in the mythology of an ancient cultâs scripture.Â
During one of these cycles, a team of astronomers and psychologists collaborate with the cult, and together determine that they are weeks away from the next eclipse. The scientists lock their loved ones away in a bunker and prepare equipment to document the eclipse, which they do not believe they will survive. (Having never experienced nighttime, they have a pathological fear of the dark. Even more concerning, however, is the threat of the Stars mentioned in ancient scripture, for these have the power to burn cities and drive men to madness.)
And when the eclipse occurs and people see the night sky for the first time in two thousand years, they are struck with terror and knowledge of their insignificance, and all the world over, people set their cities on fire to blot out the starsâ truth and the horror of the long night.
⌠What little we do know about S6 reminds me of this. Like Clarke and co., these scientists attempt to learn what happened to a lost civilization (Eligius III) while hampered by a cult-like organization (Second Dawn? Wonkru? Whoever now inhabits the planet?) that has attached mythological meaning to the natural phenomenon of the eclipse. JR has said that something crucial happens when the suns eclipse, and though suns eclipsing themselves does not create total darkness, as here, we can guess that there will be psychological ramifications attached to it.
Cover design for an Italian reprint of Isaac Asimovâs âFoundation Trilogyâ by Gabriel BjĂśrk StiernstrĂśm.Â
Asimov invented the three laws of robotics and spent most of his robot books pulling them apart and exploring why they wouldnât work but why they couldnât really be improved, either.
Most robot revolution stories assume the danger is when robots stop obeying us and start thinking for themselves.
Asimovâs stories suggest that the real danger is robots doing exactly what we tell them to.
I think thatâs both more realistic and actually scarier.
The most beautifully written part, in my opinion. A good description of our type of hivemindedness/telepathy
I know that the whole message of this story is "oh no they lost their humanity so sad :(", but the behavior of the energy beings is described with more detail than I've seen in other sci-fi works and it gives me species euphoria.
I would even say that it is one of the greatest works of xenofiction ever written
