I can’t imagine how happy Dogday was when he learned the rest of the Smiling Critters were still alive! Their reunion must have been heartwarming and tearful…though it must have been a bit awkward when Catnap showed up!
Some spoilers bc I REALLYYYYY want to write this scene, but! Catnap received a message from Prototype first and rushed to Angel, saying that more toys were found. Angel thanks him and rushes back to Playtime Co. as the cops call them to tell them about the situation.
When they arrive, Poppy on their side, it's when they see Craftycorn, wrapped in a blanket, trembling.
Angel drops their phone to the ground. Poppy's eyes are wide open as they see Hoppy being carried over to an ambulance. Angel grabs their faithful Nokia phone and immediately calls back home. Mommy picks up the phone, only to hear Angel say "the other Smiling Critters are alive".
Long Legs' eyes are also wide open in surprise when she gives Dogday the phone. He then stares at Catnap before telling him their friends are all alive.
Angel grabs Dogday's wheelchair and fits him in the van they rented - Catnap didn't have the courage to come with them - before driving to the hospital. When Dogday sees Crafty, the first one to recover, they're both sobbing. They hug each other, Dogday asks her just how this happened, she says that she tried her best. Dogday is there to calm Hoppy down when she wakes up, to hug Picky when she sobs upon finding him, ready to help Bobby clean her tears, cracking a joke when Kickin wakes up and asks if he died and this is heaven, and there to give Bubba the hug he needs. Everyone is so happy to find each other still alive, and then Dogday and Angel break the news that most of the other toys are still alive, including Catnap.
Reactions are Mixed. "He's doing better now", Dogday promises. "He's doing so much better, actually. He wants to make up for everything". Hoppy doesn't believe him at all, and the others are wary. They come back to Angel's home one by one, and each encounter makes Catnap more and more aware of their own increasing guilt. He gives every single critter a small gift, or at least tries to make them feel as comfortable as possible. He doesn't talk much to anyone until two weeks after, when he helps Picky move around a bit.
There is a moment in which Catnap does cry from seeing his friends doing well, and I think he cries a lot when Crafty hugs him and tells him she forgives him and MEANS it. The others come with time, but everyone eventually goes back to being a big and silly group of friends.
If they live in area with hurricane and tornadoes how do they react
I'll be honest: I have no idea how USA geography works. I'm a brazilian girlie, we don't have hurricanes or tornadoes, but my amazing partner unfortunately went through a hurricane or two and all I have to say is that Angel AND the toys have a very similar "what the FUCK is the weather up to now" reaction.
Angel first calmly explains to the group what a hurricane is - Miss Delight probably helps, cheerfuly doing a beautiful explanation for all of them -, then asks everyone to keep calm when the storm arrives. Reassures them everything will be alright but internally they're thinking "why the heck did I move from Brazil to here".
I like to think all the toys help Angel organize things pre-hurricane! Some toys go with them to the grocery store, others stay to grab blankets and prepare the electronics for the storm, Catnap and Prototype make sure to patrol the area and check with Miss Delight and Bubba for any possible damages to the house, etc. Angel is just a ball of stress because they're a parent but they can handle that.
Dogday, Picky, Bobby, Bunzo, Boxy and Kissy probably have the worst time. Dogday has excellent hearing and the whole situation makes him go "the world outside is ENDING even though it's NOT ENDING", while the others are just scared. Bunzo probably heard Miss Delight speaking about what hurricanes can do to houses and is just "what if..... What if the house FALLS APART.... And we all DIE????", poor baby. Kickin meanwhile is pretending to be all cool but he refuses to leave Dogday and Hoppy's side no matter what.
The other minis, small toys + PJ Pug-a-Pillar i think are a mixed bag of scared but not terrified like the previous toys. I hc most of the toys are between 13-19, so they are more chill and can come up with really fun ideas for games when the power goes out. Crafty and Mommy Long Legs come up with a lot of fun games to keep everyone entertained!
Catnap, Hoppy and Poppy are wary. They helped Angel set everything up, but Catnap still fears something will go wrong with their food. Hoppy is just wary in general, and Poppy fears something unexpected happening, but tries keeping her cheerful tone.
Huggy doesn't seem to mind anything but Angel has to tell him to NOT scare poor Bunzo.
Miss Delight and Bubba need to stay in the same room as everyone because there's a 50/50 chance they'll decide to go outside to "see it for themselves how the thing works". They're SO excited when it happens the first time!
Prototype, however, has to be allocated from his hut to the main house. Angel makes sure he's on his own confined room and covered head to toe in blankets because they're afraid he'll attract lighting. Catnap takes turns with Angel to check in on him, and when night arrives some of the younger toys rush towards Prototype because he's big and scary and will surely protect them from the storm (he can't but okay). Catnap sleeps next to the Smiling Critters in order to "protect" them (read: Dogday can't sleep so he keeps him company).
I like to think everyone sleeps in a big cuddle pile in the living room, after eating some snacks and Angel reads them a book. Miss Delight and Dogday help with making sure the youngest are asleep before checking in on Angel, who's half-asleep while Long Legs is using them as a teddy bear.
Overall I think Angel handles things pretty well when it happens! It feels better than dealing with THAT all alone. My Angel has a fear of floods, so you can imagine how stressful a hurricane or a tornado can be for them.

this is the funniest thing I’ve seen in weeks
I know that trauma can make your brain "mentally age" age faster on a cellular level, especially if said trauma is almost getting mauled alive, having your insides ripped out, or.....Worse....
I think that is what is happening with the other critters (Minus Catnap aka, Theodore).
(Though I'm pretty sure Theodore has....Some trauma, though....I'm not to sure and it's just speculation.)
Thats a way of put it, yeah. But trauma can also make the mind go backward.
had you hear of those people that due childhood trauma or events in their past tend to close themself in a specific mental state (usually childhood or teenhood) due the fear of change? Aka Peter Pan syndrome.
That how we get case like Theo (Catnap), that unlike the rest of the critters that acts like really-traumatized young adults trying to survive, Theo has block his mind to everything that isn't how his character is supposed to act (the catnap from the cartoon) or his devotions to the prototype.
About the traumas in each critters, well, we're going to see those one little by little~
GIVE THEM TO ME, NOW!!
Cat distribution system had a bit of a malfunction 😬
Stay tuned for the continuation 🥰💕💞
It definitely must have been nice for the Toys to have nice, soft and warm beds with blankets, just laying on it would knock to sleep
compared to their dingy, dirty, possibly cold cause y’know barely any power deep in the caves and god only knows how in the actual hell is the bed wet there's nothing dripping, back in the factory
The first time the toys slept in Angel's house marked the first time in years that they slept somewhere truly comfortable and safe. They even snoored, all extremely tired from leaving PlayCo. and staying a day at the hospital. I think everyone spent had like, 12 consecutive hours of sleeping. They were exhausted!
Catnap insisted on staying up so he could do a "patrol" around the house, but went back to bed once Angel insisted enough for him to do so. He immediately collapsed, very surprised at how soft and warm everything felt. He even purred! The mini critters had a good night of sleep thanks to this as well.
Dogday also didn't want to sleep, but he was one of the first ones to do so thanks to the emergency procedures he had to go through. He slept very peacefully and woke up feeling good for the first time in years.
Mommy Long Legs was such in a deep slumber that she just spread out all around the house. Her arm and legs just became noodles, and yes, she snoored. She hadn't felt this safe since... Well, since she was a child at PlayCare. Was the second to wake up (first one was Catnap)!
Miss Delight was also one of the first ones to sleep. Her procedure wasn't as big as Dogday's, but she was also very tired. Slept next to Long Legs and Angel and didn't have any nightmares or stressful dreams, which really helped her.
Poppy slept glued to Angel, she can't do much but she protecc dad. One of the last to wake up because she's actually a very heavy sleeper, and yes, Long Legs poked fun at her for this.
When the Smiling Critters are found, they all have a +12 hour night of sleep when they go to Angel's house. Even Kickin, who INSISTED he wasn't THAT tired! Hoppy woke up having no idea where she was until Dogday calmed her down and she remembered that oh yeah, she got out of PlayCo, actually!
tldr everyone is sleepy
