Photographer Kilian Schönberger takes us on a journey into the scary tales of the Brothers Grimm. This fascinating series of photographs was shot by Kilian as he traveled through the remote middle areas of Europe, the same areas that inspired the Brothers Grimm to write their series of eerie tales.

Military Dress Sword
Dated: circa 1787-91
Culture: English
Medium and techniques: gilt brass, wood, fish skin, silver wire, gilt, blued steel/etched
Measurements: overall length 95cm; blade length 62cm
The sword has a gilt/brass hilt with an oval pommel cap. The oval wooden grip is covered in grey fishskin bound with herringbone of silver wire. The straight steel two-edged blade features etched gilt and blued panels decorated with Royal Arms and military trophy.

“These are sketches that I did before the serialization. I drew them while looking at pictures of the Mogao Caves in China. At first, Magi was going to be a manga that revolves more around conquering dungeons, and so I did a lot of sketches like these.”
