This is a genuine Majungasaurus dinosaur tooth fossil, carefully excavated from the Maevarano Formation, a renowned Cretaceous fossil site near Berivotra Village, Madagascar. Dating back approximately 70–66 million years, this remarkable fossil belonged to one of the most fearsome theropod dinosaurs of the Late Cretaceous period.

Majungasaurus was a dominant apex predator of its time, characterized by its robust skull, short snout, and serrated teeth designed for slicing through flesh. As a member of the Abelisauridae family, Majungasaurus was a distant relative of South American carnivores like Carnotaurus. Fossilized teeth from this dinosaur provide valuable insights into its feeding habits and role in the ancient ecosystems of Madagascar.

Geology & Formation:

The Maevarano Formation is a famous Late Cretaceous fossil deposit in northwestern Madagascar. It contains an extraordinary diversity of prehistoric life, including dinosaurs, crocodiles, turtles, and early mammals. Fossils from this formation are exceptionally well-preserved due to the rapid burial conditions of the region’s ancient floodplains, making this an exceptional specimen for any collector.
