"[I]t’s so weird that we pick up on fanfic, of all things, as the archetype of base fiction. We might as well choose novels about mathematicians, or books that have gimmicky chapter titles. Fanfic is just fiction that has an element of criticism to it, fiction that openly responds to other fiction. That’s all. Oh, there’s a little more to it than that; it’s generally also fiction you can’t sell, which is important, and there are common tropes to it, as I’ve said, but at heart, it’s just fiction that centers the idea of interpretation. Some of it’s great and some of it’s bad. The fact that a book is part of a genre is not a predictor of its quality."
AOT Season 4 Spoiler warning
Just saying, none of this would be happening if Grisha Jaeger learned his lesson from Zeke turning him in and stopped putting abnormal amounts of pressure on his children. Stop telling your children the future of your race rests on their shoulders. Didn’t work the first time, I don’t know why he thought it would work the second time.
Bad parenting 101
Please rec your favorite Ereri long fics where they aren’t underaged.
In return, my absolute favorites are Fallen Star by Monsoon, Number Unknown by Belle_Lestrange101, Flight (When None Purseth) by mongoose_bite and Good Enough to Eat by wasterella.
Special emphasis on the last 2.
I just woke up and am hypothesizing:
Has anyone else every thought that a large part of the reason romantic fanfiction is so attractive to women is that a majority of the authors are women? And women know how to write the female gaze. Having the female gaze applied to your favorite media (which is probably heavily effected by the male gaze) is attractive.
I remember a poll someone did for fanfiction authors and a large chunk, much bigger than 80%, were women and when I write a lot of the times it’s my fluff scenes that readers seem to be more effected by.

Jason: … the bed’s too small
Clive: Oh! I can get a bigger one. Actually, we can probably just sleep in the same room from now on. Turn your room into a study because it’s smaller. More more efficient for storing documents.
Jason, internally: … oh no
Jason: What if we have guests? (And they see us sleeping together)
Clive: We’re married.
And now Clive is offended
A modern day AU where Clive is a lonely researcher and Jason works part time at a dumpling soup shop and at an office supply store.
Clive only goes out for three things - food, office supplies, and basic necessities. Somehow he runs into Jason doing all three of these. And somehow, the chef/server who will let Clive rant about his research, coworkers, the university (all while looking very interested), remembers his name and says hi to him every time they see each other.
Anime and Chill is NOT the same as Netflix and Chill.
If you were tryna get it on then you shouldn’t have put on Cowboy Bebop or Attack on Titan. Now sit your ass down and enjoy it. We’re binging the whole season right here, right now.
people saying jason asano is an idiot baffle me
he is actively pioneering a branch of complex magic theory while saving the world
like what more do you want
Jason getting jealous that Travis can share Earth science with Clive but he can’t.
Clive gets all excited, his eyes lighting up, all previous thoughts forgotten as he delves into earth magic. Meanwhile Jason isn’t even knowledgeable enough to explain something like gravity to him.
Better if Jason doesn’t even realize he likes Clive like that. He thinks he’s just jealous he can’t show off to his “best friend”
