đ-She first realises it on a hot summer night, where she was still pulling another all-nighter.
This time though, she had you, a fellow Knight, working with her to finish her duties for the day.
Of course, there were some documents that only Jean could access, so you were doing the other tasks that didnât necessarily need Jean only. (a/n Margaret get a better grip on your cat)
You had just finished your last non- acting grandmaster- related outside duties of finding Margaretâs cat, but as you were feeling exhausted, you decided to set a timer of 45 minutes before waking up and helping Jean.
Jean stepped into her office after getting more coffee, only to return to you resting on her couch, sitting upright.
ây/n?â No response, only your gentle breathing could be heard.
Jean went back to her table, and continued doing her work, but she could not focus, and ended up staring at you, thinking about how kind you were, for helping her, how cute your sleeping face looked, and how she wanted to kiss youâŚ
She instantly blushed and went back to work, but her mind was running on how her thoughts were like the protagonist's when they meet their love interest.
Thatâs when she knew she had feelings for you.
đ-Lisa is sharp, she is able to tell quickly that she has such feelings for you.
We all know Lisa is a very flirty person, and as a result probably has many admirers who are interested in her mainly due to her figure.
You were different. Yes, you were also heavily affected by her flirting and all, but not once, have you ever hit on you, or like tried to vie for her attention in an overbearing manner.
Furthermore, you actually love to discuss with Lisa about various topics across the entire Teyvat, so intellectually Lisa is attracted to you already.
Itâs when she realises how open and free that she can be around that she realises that she has fallen for you.
She was reflecting on your time together that day, thinking about how you were so different from all the various suitors she has entertained over the years. You didnât try to wow her with gifts, but gave her something even more important: your time, and your complete attention. And whenever around you, she didnât have to feel like she was flirting with someone, but being able to be at ease.
When she realises that she wants to always feel like this with you and only you, sheâll know that she has feelings for you.
Can you imagine how cute and wholesome it would be if youâre dating Jean. One night when you two are latched onto one another cuddling. You hear the door open, and itâs Klee scared (from some story Kaeya probably told her) asking if she can sleep with you and Jean tonight.
You let Klee snuggle between the two of you and Jean both share a chaste kiss before kissing Kleeâs forehead and ruffling her hair saying something like. âDonât worry sweet girl. Jeanâs the scariest there is. No monsters will get you while sheâs around.â That joke may get you a soft punch in the shoulder from our resident grand master
Jean my beloved,,, Iâm happy I got a request for her! And as both an Albedo and Jean stan Iâm experienced with Klee lmao
Iâm back and gayer than ever HDHFHFHGHF forgive me Iâve been DEAD but in other news Iâm on a weird live action kick which is incredibly strange Iâm scared
You and Jean were enjoying your sleep (a rarity since your darling works so hard all the time, often later into the night than you would prefer) when suddenly, the door was cracked open with a creak.
Youâre the first to be awakened. You rub your eyes, rolling over to see what it was that had woken you up.
To your surprise, itâs Klee, Dodoco clutched in her hands and eyes glassy with tears.
You scramble out of bed and come over to her, kneeling to get a better look at her face.
âKlee, sweetie, whatâs wrong? Why are you crying?â
âKaeya told me a really scary story, and I couldnât sleep.â She sniffled. âBig brother Albedo is working on the mountain⌠he canât tuck me in.â
âDonât worry, sweetheart. You can sleep with Jean and I tonight.â
âReally?â
âOf course.â
You help her up onto the bed, and she quickly nestles into the soft sheets. After you pull the blanket up over her, Jean finally awakens.
âKlee?â
âShe couldnât sleep.â
âAh, I see.â
Jean moved a little closer as you climbed back into bed, the two of you surrounding Klee in a warm âshieldâ to keep her safe from the monsters.
âDonât worry, little one.â You chuckled. âMaster Jean is the scariest there is, nothing will get you while sheâs here.â
That earned you a pointed look and a sigh, but a slight smile was tugging at Jeanâs lips.
Klee was asleep within moments, and not long after, Jean was as well.
âGoodnight.â You murmured, brushing a stray hair out of Jeanâs face before falling asleep yourself.

masterlist
⢠the person who let you have the last carton of eggs. you were rushing to the supermarket in an absolute frenzy; your mother wanted to make desserts, but you used up the last eggs in the house to complete a stupid ârubber eggâ science project of yours.
⢠it was already late, and the chances of the supermarket actually having anything there at all was very slim, but luck seemed to be in your favour??? lo and behold, right there in the poultry aisle, sits the last box of eggs. you could literally hear angels singing.
⢠well, your glorious moment was interrupted by a third party picking it up before you could. he was observing them with a critical gaze, and in a slight moment of panic, you were debating whether or not you could win against him in a fist fight.
⢠but as he gave you a quizzical look at your defeated expression, you opted for the second option: begging.
⢠it was a pitiful sight, really. you were about to get on your knees and plead at the poor guy just for the eggs. you knew your mother would be angry if you came home with nothing, and you werenât about to risk a scolding, not today!!
⢠but instead, he just wordlessly handed the carton to you. no small talk, no need for you to throw your dignity to the side, nothing. it was like he could read your mind. you stood there in awe.
⢠you swear you could see a hint of a smirk on his face, though.
⢠the attractive person who was taking care of their sibling at the park. he was helping teucer climb up one of those spider web playground equipment things, and then his shirt rised up a bit and. oh. oh my god. ohhhhhh my god?!?!?
⢠turns out, he was your neighbour⌠the hot neighbour that you never noticed until now. youâve interacted with his little siblings before, but never saw him?? and as you were having a mini crisis on a park bench, his little brother noticed you!
⢠you were invited to join them with a warm smile from both boys, and your heart almost skipped a beat imagining a domestic scene with the two: childe cooking a meal, while you and teucer sit at a table expectantly. ohh you hopeless romantic⌠imagining all these scenarios with a boy youâve just met..
⢠you got attached way too quickly. you thought that childe believed the same: that you two hit it off, but apparently he didnât. he gave you his number, but only ever initiated conversation if teucer wanted to meet up with you in the park. (the little boy had grown attached to you!) but it was never for anything else. childe never interacted with your âhow was your day?â texts at all.
⢠next thing you knew, the texts eventually faded into nothingness. you heard from a mutual friend of yours that childe started to date a new girl that moved into town, and that the two can be seen in the nearby park, acting like a sickenly sweet couple as they play tag with childeâs siblings.
⢠you occasionally walk by the park sometimes, and watch in envy as the girl took up the spot that you once had with the boys. it seemed as if teucer completely forgot about you; he liked the new girl more. and childe⌠he never once looked your way; he never saw you anything beyond a friend to begin with. childe may have never been yours, but a part of your heart still considered him to be a traitor.

Hello-could I request a reader with small hands(sry if I requested them a lot but like since Iâve them :P)who one day is out with their S/O (Ayaka,Yoimiya,Kokomi,Sara and Ei)and then the reader out of the blue asks to compare hand sizes out of curiosity and reader finds out that their hands are smaller than theirs character reactions and vary-I hope this wasnât too much take your time with this and take care!! :):):)
Characters: Ayaka, Yoimiya, Kokomi, Sara, Raiden Shogun
Warnings: none
A/n: No worries, I be writing a lot about hands but itâs all fun for me because itâs a unique concept :)
Link to Prt. 2Â Â theyâre not related in anyway just a similar concept if yâall want more
⢠Ayakaâs hands are probably relatively the same size as yours being such a short girl herself. Yours just being slightly smaller, enough to barely notice unless you put effort.
⢠Regardless of both of your small hands they felt comfortable. Such small dainty fingers interlocking together, you notice the feeling was notably different from other hands youâve held.
⢠She was surprised that your hands were smaller than hers. Being a short girl, she too was used to seeing her hands smaller than most.
You sat in the Yashiro Commission Headquarters as your girlfriend, Ayaka, greeted a new guest. Her fan partially covered her face, and you couldnât help but notice how small her hands were webbed along with the fan.
You thought maybe youâve found someone with smaller hands than you. When given the opportunity Ayaka went behind the shoji screen divider, where she greeted you with an exhausted sigh.
âAyaka, let me see your hands.â You brought her wrist up to yours comparing the sizes. It was difficult to tell, but with disappointment, you saw her hands were just a centimeter short of hers.
âOh?â She looked surprised too, enjoying such a normal interaction with someone âI did not expect this. You see normally my hands are smaller than most.
âAh- but my hands are freakishly small, so this is no surprise to me.â Ayaka giggled at your self-deprecation, she thought you were cute for your size even if it was smaller than most.
⢠Yoimiya is also quite a shorty. Her hands reflected it as well, but theyâre still quite larger than yours. Her having averagely sized for her height, and you having freakishly small hands for your already short stature was a recipe for teasing.
⢠Whenever you held Yoimiyaâs hands you noticed how strong her grip was, your palms were so close it created a pool of sweat between you two. But as long as you didnât mind she didnât either. She liked to hold your hand tightly because she thought it symbolized the connection between you two physically.Â
⢠Yoimiya had larger hands for her height, so she would be surprised if they werenât larger. She prided herself on them because they were what created the beauty of the fireworks in the skies.
Yoimiya was crafting a small toy made of the remains of a failed firework for the neighborhood kids. She said it would be like recycling, good for the environment which is the least she can do when her fireworks do is endanger it.
You couldnât help but notice how her hands articulated around the wrench as she screwed a bolt in the toy to keep it intact.
âYoimiya, let me see your hands.â She wiped off the sweat from her forehead before taking her safety glasses off, bringing her hand up swiftly to meet yours.
You compared the sizes, and of course, her hands were bigger, not by much but still visibly bigger. It just fed her ego of having bigger features than others who were also short in stature.
âHehe~ I knew it.â She said triumphantly, ânobody can beat me in hand sizes, you see theyâre quite chunky.â She tried to joke around giving you a big grin as you rolled your eyes playfully.
⢠Kokomi was also some short stuff. Her hands were so thin just like a model, you were jealous. Yet, in comparison, you werenât surprised to find your hand smaller for the 100th time.
⢠Kokomi preferred to link arms simultaneously holding hands, she liked the intimacy. When she was in a good mood she would encase your one hand in both of hers and she would be even happier. The size difference makes your hand drown in both of hers.
⢠Kokomi was shocked to see your hands smaller than hers. She had such tiny hands for her height, and to find someone smaller was a 1/1000th chance.
Kokomi was greeting her generals after sending them off to Yashiori Island to fend off the Shogunâs opposing forces. You stood beside her as her assistant, it mightâve been a weird thought for the situation at hand, but you couldnât help but think how small her hands were when she blessed her soldiers. She would hold one of their hands with both of hers and bow together moving on to the next, each soldierâs hands were perpetually larger than hers.
Once they were off through the gates of the Sangonomiya shrine she audibly sighed turning immediately to you. She allowed her exhausted self to fall into your hold, you knew how introverted the poor girl was, probably ran herself in the mud with all the recent work.
You looked to improve the mood, âKokomi, let me see your hand.â She brought her small palm up to yours while still in your hold. Like you thought, her hand was small and gentle, but sadly not as small as yours. It overshadowed yours by half a joint.Â
âWow, I knew your hands were small but this is an unexpected result.â She let her fingers relax within yours, holding your hand as she stayed in your embrace. You felt her stressed heartbeat relax within your hand, hopefully, it distracted even just a little.
⢠Sara had massive hands compared to you. She was average height for a woman, but her hands spoke man. They were strong, rectangular, and veiny, which were all dominant in men.
⢠When your hands intertwined you felt the vast difference between the two, her were meaty yet elegant. The way your small hands loosely rattled, was quite comical but you thought it was almost like a mother and child with the size difference.
⢠Sara was not surprised to see your hands smaller than hers. She was surprised, however, to see that your hands were drastically smaller than hers. You fell short a whole joint, but she normally paid no attention to it.
Sara was stressed about the official documents that lay before her from the Kanjou Commission. They acquired especially low funds this month to operate the Tenryou Commission. While she figured out her operational budget for this month you grew bored.
You noticed her hand resting on her desk, her fingers dancing up and down in a wave pattern, making a patterned dudu dudu sound on her desk. You grabbed her hand to prevent her nervous habits, you knew she grew somewhat fidgety.
âRelax Sara,â she looked annoyed and surprised that you even said anything. She watched you align your hands, and as you expected, her hand was a little more than a joint larger than yours. âWow what big hands you have,â you said in surprise.
âWell, what do you expect?â She asked sternly, she thought your antics were dumb and always stated the obvious, but it ultimately calmed her down from her duties.
⢠Eiâs hands werenât too big or too small for her height, just about average as they come. In comparison to hers though, your hands made hers seem gigantic. In reality, you just had some small hands.
⢠Ei would subconsciously rub your hand with her thumb when you held it. It was a little quirk that she never noticed, the size difference made it so her thumb was rubbing the entire roof of your hand.
⢠Ei did not care, she literally probably didnât even think twice until you brought it up. Even when you did she didnât see the big deal about your hands being small.
Tonight was one of the few nights Ei retreated from her inner world to spend time with you. She knew you grew lonely, so occasionally she tried to spare a night or two a week for you.
Having your actual girlfriend in the flesh in front of you made you excited, every time you always wanted to pull all-nighters to savor the limited time you had with her. âHey, Ei, let me see your hand,â you asked curiously. She obeyed quietly, you could tell the confusion on her face.
You pressed your palm against hers, you knew it, your hand being a whole inch shorter than hers. âAh~ Iâm so jealous, bigger hands are so much more attractive than smaller.â You looked at the stub you had for a hand in disdain.
âI donât understand, What does hand size correlate to anything?â Ei was even more confused than in the beginning. You merely giggled and gave Ei a small hug, you loved her because no matter your âflawsâ she would unintentionally overlook them.
why canât you hate me? (because i still love you) â kujou sara
pairing: kujou sara/gn!reader (romantic)
category: angst laugh out loud
a little summary: in which kujou sara is tasked with confiscating your vision. and maybe it wouldnât have been so hard if your eyes looked at her with hate and not love.
note: @xiaophobic giggles sadly
kujou sara does not cry.
she never does, not even when her body hurts from the countless injuries, not even when she overhears the harsh commentary of other generals, not when the almighty shogun scolds her for another failed mission against the resistance.
she does not cry. never.
but now, the shogunâs words ring in her mind â bring me their head or their vision. the choice is yours â and for the first time in her life, she can feel her facade cracking a little bit. sheâs crumbling, piece by piece, just by looking at you.
you, oh you, with your dirtied palms and knees roughly hitting the ground in front of her. you, with a knife pressed against your throat by the one that swore that she would protect you. the one that said she would give your life for you in a heartbeat. your face is dirty and the hydro vision glisting at your neck makes her heart hurt. just yet another sign of how the two of you could never work.
âvision hunt decree,â her voice rings, loud and clear. if one would listen closely, they would hear how her voice wares for a second and a split moment of pain flashed through her face, âin the name of the almighty shogun, hand over your vision!â
âsame as always,â you breath out. she feels a sting at that comment. she looks into your eyes, her face devoid of any emotions. all she can see is a gentle smile gracing your lips and your eyes soft and looking at her with understanding. she hates this, she hates you and most of all she hates herself.
you still have a chance, she wants to say. you can still come back to our side. you can still go back and stand by my side. iâll convince her, weâll tell you you came back to your senses. please.
âthe resistance never betrays itâs own,â you whisper, as if knowing what sheâs thinking about. âtake my vision, sara. donât make it hurt anymore than it has to.â
there is no place for love on the battlefield. especially not for the traitors.
why canât you hate me? she wants to scream. why donât you cry? why arenât you picking up a fight? her hand shakes a little bit. it cuts your throat just slightly and she panics, her breath hitching.
âiâll still love you. i donât blame you,â you say gently. youâre still smiling, she notices. why are you still smiling? it was inevitable. war was full of sacrifices and burned promises.
kujou sara does not cry. but a single tear rolls of her cheek when she hands over your vision to the shogun.
good job, she purrs, satisfied.
she hates herself even more.
extra bc im feeling funky;
the next time she meets you, you somehow look happier, even though your vision is not with you. she wants to hide from you, but a part of her makes her go up to you and meet your eyes.
âexcuse me, do i know you?â you ask, tilting your head.
âno. i donât think you do,â her throat closes up and she feels as if sheâs falling.
you donât remember her.

Song pick #1: Nobody by Mitski
Song Pick #2: Heart Attack by LOONA/Chuu
Itâs been years since then.
You were just innocent children, waddling around and giggling at the simplest of things. You could remember your mother calling for you, telling you to be careful before you mindlessly stumbled towards the streets of Liyue Harbor. The world outside of the Harbor was enticing, so you walked for hours, only stopping until you reached the dark corners of Wuwang hill.
You could remember the girl you found in the woods, curled up against a tree, holding a bleeding knee. The girl with brunette hair and eyes that glimmered like rubies, hyperventilating as she chuckled to mask the tears welling up in her eyes. As time passed, she stopped laughing. Her voice wavered as the darkness of the forest consumed her whole, her cries for help only bearing witness to the trees.
However, that was before you found her. As soon as you caught sight of another person on the hill, you ran towards them. When you saw that the person was hurt, you burst into tears and fell to their feet. You hadnât seen blood before, and you additionally had the tendency to cry when other people cried.
You grabbed the girlâs hand, trying to babble out an âAre you okay?â to her. The girl in front of you wiped her own tears and looked at you with concern and confusion. She crawled forward to pat your head, her tiny fingers fluffing your hair around.
âH-Hey, donât cryâŚâ She mumbled, trying to be comforting. She wiped off her knee and raised it up to your face, wincing. âLook! Iâm all okay now, see?â
You frantically shook your head, and started taking off one of your socks to stop the bleeding. You clumsily tied it around her leg, which still had blood running from the wound. It was a tiny scrape, but to a toddler, it practically looked like her leg had been chopped off. You sat down beside her and leaned against a tree.
A few minutes passed, and you had fully calmed down. You sniffled and wiped your eyes every now and then, but you were no longer crying, which the mystery girl considered a win. Your new acquaintance wrapped an arm around your shoulders, and started rubbing your back in a comforting manner. After a few minutes, you finally spoke up.
âSorryâŚâ you sighed. The brunette next to you perked up at your apology, energetically scrambling to reassure you.
âHuh? Donât apologize, Iâm all better now thanks to you!â She grinned at you, shifting to sit in criss cross position, the blood from her cut mixing with dirt as she did so. She started rocking from side to side, her hair swinging in sync with her movements. âLighten up! Whatâs your name?â
You raised your head, a small smile spreading over your lips. â(Y/n). Whatâs yours?â Your eyes followed her form as she clapped in excitement. She was sent into a fit of quiet giggles as she continued to sway. You wondered why she was so happy, you only asked what her name was. âIâm Hu Tao, Its nice to meet you!â
After a while, you started laughing with her, despite your confusion. Being with another person felt⌠nice. You had been sheltered by your mother every since you had been born. Staying inside Liyue Harborâs walls didnât giving you much time to adjust to the world, especially since you were just a toddler. That was part of why you cried when you saw Hu Taoâs scrape, and that was why you were here in the first place.
As night started falling, mist spread throughout every nook of Wuwang Hill. The shadows cast from the trees melted into the night sky, the darkness forcing you to cling to your new friends. You and Hu Tao started walking, trying to find your way out of the forest by using seelies and butterflies. It was dawn by the time you had gotten home, and everyone had been worried sick about you.
So, you bid Hu Tao farewell, and promised to meet her in the forest another day.
It was around 7PM when Hu Tao finally returned to the funeral parlor. But something felt⌠different. Tonight, she didnât feel the weight of death on her shoulders.
No, tonight, she felt happy.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââ-
Itâs been twelve years since you first met Hu Tao.
Your friendship with the Overseer brought good to your life, and continues to make you happy every day. Sheâs been there through everything, not just to watch- but also to support you in everything that you do. This was something that no one was willing to do for you before.
She knew nearly everything about you- your favorite food, you favorite books, all of the standard stuff that a close friend would know. However, Hu Tao also knew about your past, and some of the deepest feelings that managed to work their way into your stomach. Sometimes, you would show up at her door in tears, asking for advice, and she would happily comply.
Almost too happily.
Hu Tao would get butterflies in her stomach whenever your gaze met hers, no matter the circumstance. Her hands would sweat, and to say that she would become flustered is an understatement. She would always become red faced if you ever got too close to her- and you, in your ignorance, would think she was sick or something.
She was happy that you relied on her, and she thought that the joy bubbling in her stomach every time you were mentioned was just the feeling of having a real friend. But, after a while, she realized that these werenât just platonic feelings.
She realized that she was in love with you.
And dear god, she never expected love to hurt so much. All she wanted to do was take you into her arms and kiss you like there was no tomorrow, but she couldnât risk losing what she had with you. Not now, not ever. So, she vowed that she would never come clean about her feelings unless you asked about them. She wouldnât stand in your way.
It was only until she heard that you were going on a long mission that she regretted her promise. She didnât want you to leave, she didnât know what she would do with herself. You were the very reason she could move forward every day. After all, no one like the poor girl. Not Zhongli, not her own family, not anyone.
Every day you were gone, she waited at her door for you. The hollow feeling in her chest returned, and everyone who knew her had a feeling that something was wrong. Her eyes were dull, and the constant tapping of her foot was a clear sign that she was anxious. No one asked about her though, in fear of becoming her newest obsession.
Hu Tao buried herself in work after three days of your absence. After being yelled at by client and getting ignored by Zhongli, she tried not to cry. But, understandably, she broke halfway through the week. She truly did miss you, she thought as tears streamed down her face in the dead of night.
When you finally returned, you returned with a familiar face.
One she hadnât seen in very, very long time
His raven hair decorated with glowing turquoise could be recognized by anyone who knew his name. His mask was practically a symbol of justice to the Archons, and his presence had once pestered Hu Tao long before you had left.
Adeptus Xiao.
He was always so cold, so unforgiving. It seemed that she always managed to tick him off just by being around, just like she did to everyone else. Occasionally, he would smirk at her antics, but other than that, he was something akin to a boulder. She didnât want him to take away her best friend, or even worse- make you boring too.
Her joy was dampened when you said that he would be staying with you for a few days, but most of all, she was confused. A burning feeling settled in her chest as she watched you smile at him like he was the Sun and Stars themselves. Why did he need a place to stay? The Wangshu Inn was quite suitable for travelers and gods alike, so what was the problem?
Unfortunately, Hu Taoâs questions were answered when she caught you doing something that she never thought you would. The Overseer was going about her day as usual, tending to customers and preparing coffins. She was going to find you to ask you about something, when she witnessed you pressing a kiss to the Yakshaâs lips through a crack in the door.
Xiao wrapped a hand around your waist and pulled you in even closer, tilting his head to deepen the affection he was giving. Your palms glided up his neck, finding their way into his hair. You stayed like that for a moment, bodies pressing against each other, warmth emanating from your moving lips. A dark blush coated your loverâs cheeks when you broke away for air.
The image of you might have been hazy, but she knew what was going on now, and she knew what this was leading up to. A pang of jealousy and sadness shot through her stomach, infecting her system until it had reached her heart.
You didnât want her. You never would.
A few small gasps left Hu Taoâs lips as she turned on her heel and ran away from the scene. The floorboards creaked as she did so, alerting both you and Xiao that someone was there. Both of your heads snapped towards the partially open door. That was the last thing you heard from her for days.
All you got was a mere glimpse of her uniform from behind the door, floating like a butterfly caught in a strong breeze.
It almost felt as if she was drifting away, bit by bit.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââ-
Hu Tao returned to you almost a week later.
After she saw you and Xiao, panic set into her soul before she could realize it. She closed the Funeral Parlor until she returned, leaving you in a nervous state of confusion. The only thing you could wonder was, where was she? Was she alright? Why would she ever do this? Not once had she closed the parlor, so why now?
The truth was, your friend was now lost because of you. She though that she had a chance with you, but she had come to realize that that was far from the case. For three days, she had been aimlessly wandering around the dark corners of Wuwang hill, trying to gather her thoughts. But of course, she had no luck. The young Overseer needed advice on how to cope, so she ran to the wisest person she could think of.
Zhongli.
Hu Tao found the Ex-Archon to be irritably smart, making him a good, yet annoying source of help. He had expressed his hatred towards her, claiming that she acted like a child. His attitude always stung a little, but she couldnât afford to hold grudges right now.
The streets of Liyue were filled with a mix of tourists and locals, the bustling crowds forcing Hu Tao to get through using force. She pushed her way through the ocean of people, the tears that lingered on her cheeks smudging from bumping into the bodies of others.
When she finally reached Zhongliâs door, it was almost sunset. She rapped on his door, and waited for a response. A sharp click echoed from the other side of the door as it swung open, revealing Zhongli, who was looking just as professional as always. He quirked a brow at her appearance and gestured for her to come inside.
He could tell that she had been crying, her puffy eyes and red nose giving him all of the minor details he needed. However, something else was off about her. The light from her eyes was gone- that really told him everything. There was no requirement for questions, he just needed to offer any form of comfort, since her previous source was the very thing that had her caused to seem so⌠dejected. Zhongli walked over to a kettle situated in his kitchen, and blew out the fire warming the water inside of it.
âItâs something to do with (Y/n), right?â Zhongli asked, pity lining his tone. The woman in front of him nodded sadly as tears welled up in her eyes. He sighed and patted her on the back. âYou truly did have full control over this poor soul, didnât you?â He thought as he poured the boiling water into a cup. The problem was, you didnât know of the power you held, which could possibly lead to the Overseerâs downfall. âPlease, come sit down. Would you like some tea?â
âNo, thatâs okay.â Hu Tao replied, voice so quiet Zhongli could hardly hear it. âThank you for the offer, though.â
The Archon sat across from her, holding a steaming cup of tea, his amber eyes boring into his guestâs soul. A shiver ran up Hu Taoâs spine as she soaked up his intense gaze, the despair she harbored just minutes ago morphing into pure nerves. She chuckled nervously and wiped her eyes.
â(Y/n) is in love with Xiao, and⌠Iâm more than certain that he loves them in return.â Zhongli choked on his tea at her words, eyes as wide as saucers. He hurriedly set his teacup down and gently patted himself on the chest to regain his bearings. The infamous Yaksha⌠was in love? Was that even possible?
Confusion and disbelief were glazed over Zhongliâs features as he coughed into his fist. âI⌠I see.â He answered, âI suppose miracles do happen, even if they are in the, uh- strangest of circumstances.â
âZhongli, you donât understand, I love (Y/n). I love them too- Iâve loved them for longer than Xiao has.â Hu Tao cried, more tears accumulating under her irises. Tiny sobs left her throat as she ranted. âI hate having to watch the person I love the most get taken by some else, Itâs not fair!â
An agitated sigh vibrated through the Archonâs chest at her words. How young and naive she was. A part of Zhongli understood how she felt, and another resented her for crying over something that he had been through millions of times. But, in reality, he had a secret soft spot for the young Heiress.
âLove isnât fair. It never was.â And in the end, that side always managed to win him over, âThe best thing you can do for yourself is move on.â because no one should have to go through what he did. He was alone when he lost his friends, and this child shouldnât have to live through that too, even if she was a bother sometimes.
The girlâs breath hitched. Move on? How could she ever move on when you had captured her heart and marked it as your own? Anger started rising up Hu Taoâs neck as he spoke. She opened her mouth, ready to retaliate- but she was cut off by another statement shook her to the core.
â(Y/n)âs feelings wonât change, you know.â
He was right.
She knew he was.
No matter how much she wanted you to love her, you were incapable of doing so.
But why couldnât you?
âBut it isnât fair to make them worry about you by running away. Go back to the Funeral Parlor, and patch things up.â
Heavy silence filled the air. The atmosphere was intense as the crushing realization hit Hu Tao- the realization that she had been selfish by running. She had caused you more trouble than she had meant to. A few minutes passed like this- the Geo Archon watching as a lovesick girl silently have an entire existential crisis inside the walls of her own mind.
Abruptly, she stood up.
The life had returned to her face again, and a determined look shone in her eyes. She was ready to come home. She couldnât hold you down anymore. She would go back to you and apologize, because promised she would never, ever hurt you. Hu Tao ran out of Zhongliâs apartment, yelling to him about how grateful she was for his help.
It was nightfall when she had arrived at your house, exactly four days after she had left. She placed her hands on her knees and she panted into the cold, damp air. Soon enough, she felt gentle arms looping around her body. It was you.
A smile bloomed on her face as she hugged you back. âIâm sorry.â She whispered as you cried into her shoulder. Butterflies bloomed in her stomach when you did so, a faint blush coating her ears and cheeks. You bombarded her with questions of concern when you led her inside, Hu Tao joyfully answering each one of them. But as soon as she saw Xiao emerge from your room, she felt sick.
The butterflies that had been fluttering in her stomach were now dead.
ââââââââââââââââââââââââââ-
Today was your wedding day.
Today was the day that Xiao would promise his soul to to you for eternity.
Nerves and love were mixing in your stomach as you got ready. Your hands were sweating, and it felt as though electricity was spreading throughout your chest. You had envisioned yourself walking down the isle many times before, but youâd never expected it to actually happen. Especially not with someone as amazing as Xiao.
The wedding was being held at the Wangshu Inn, the very place where you and Xiao had met. It wasnât a big reception, neither of you were up for that- but a few close friends had been invited to come and celebrate with you. It was only a few minutes before you had to come out, and the last checks of your outfit were being done.
Hu Tao stood behind you, trying to style your hair. You looked so beautiful in your wedding attire- hell, you were practically glowing. A constant ache had settled in Hu Taoâs stomach, and ever so often she would start to feel nauseous because of it. It hurt, knowing that you would never be hers. It hurt, seeing you look at someone else with such love. But she swore, years ago, that she wouldnât get involved.
She knew you were happy, and thatâs all that mattered to her.
She entangled her fingers in your hair and closed her eyes. A giggle rose from her throat to try and mask the fear that coursed through her body. It was just like you were kids again- it was just like the day you met. Hu Tao wondered if you remembered that day. She wouldnât blame you if you didnât, it had been two decades since then.
She should have told you. She should have taken the chance to tell you she loved you, instead of digging her own grave. Images of what could have been flashed before her eyes, and the hollow feeling in her chest had returned.
Her hands shook slightly, alerting you of the expression on her face. She grinned as big, glistening tears rolled down her cheeks. Small hiccups emerged from her lips, chest heaving with despair. She felt as if she was grieving for no reason, and she hated that she was burdening you with her issues on the most important day of your life.
You looked up at her, guilt clouding your eyes. Gently, you stood up and pulled her into your arms.
âHey, hey⌠whatâs wrong?â You whispered.
âN-Nothing, really, Iâm just happy for you!â Choked laughs were scattered throughout her words as she nuzzled her face into your neck. âMy best friend is getting married, of course I would cry.â
It was meant to seem like a lighthearted comment- a mere joke for you to laugh at, but there was a melancholic undertone to her voice, unlike the usual bubbly one she had. You quirked your head at her voice and placed a hand on her shoulder. You stared at your friend, the hues of your eyes being reflected in the hers.
âNothing will change Hu Tao, I promise. Youâll always be my best friend.â
A friend. Thatâs all she was to you.
Hu Tao nodded and pulled away from you, wiping her eyes one last time. She brushed herself off before patting you on the back and ushering you to the door. The sounds of clapping could be heard as Verr Goldet finished up her speech. âWell, itâs time.â She sighed, âNow go out there, and give them a wedding theyâll never forget!â
The exchange that happened between her and Zhongli replayed in her head.
Time seemed to slow down as you gave her a final âthank youâ, before walking down the aisle and leaving her side forever. Flowers clouded Hu Taoâs vision when she went around the seating arrangements to take her place up front as your Maid of Honor.
One last time, she looked at you, eyes filled with the disgusting feeling of love she had felt for so long. Taking a deep breath, she realized that Zhongli was right. She needed to move on. But she couldnât, no matter how many times she tried.
Even as you both grew old together, the memory of the day she met you still lingers in her mind, reminding her that you gave your life away to someone that wasnât her.
DON'T YOU-
-ME, ANON
- Eula doesn't seem like the type to be the more gentle one in a relationship, especially if her S/O is shyer than others.
- ...Well, she still isn't, but man does she try.
- When they first met, Eula assumes S/O is terrified of her because she's a descendant of the Lawrence clan.
(Eula) "...You're staring."
(S/O) "...A-Am I? Sorry I didn't-"
(Eula) "Oh, I understand. Truly. After all, the Lawrence clan is still out for vengeance. It makes sense that you don't think you're safe around me."
- In reality, S/O was half-terrified, half in awe of how pretty of a woman Eula was. S/O wasn't sure what to say since said pretty woman was carrying a greatsword bigger than them. If anything, that was the part that terrified them the most.
- Eula just brushes them off, walking away since she was used to this treatment.
- Then came the next day where S/O specifically sought them out.
(Eula) sigh "Let me guess, my mere presence is something you can't sta-"
(S/O) "N-No! I'd like to apologize to you for yesterday!"
(Eula) "Er...What?"
- Eula then finally noticed S/O's body language. It was obvious they weren't great at talking to others. Thankfully it didn't seem as bad as Sucrose's inability to speak to others, but still.
- This apology didn't seem mocking or they were scared of her "wrath". It was genuine.
- And that was what drew her towards them.
- Eula and S/O spend a lot of time away from the public eye, which suits both of them just fine.
- S/O appears to come out of their shell around her, and only her from what she's seen.
- Although it confuses her how S/O doesn't seem to care about her reputation since they aren't a knight and are subject to all the nasty gossip about her, she couldn't be any happier (on the inside).
- Eula is a bit awkward around S/O however. She doesn't usually try to reserve her manner of speech in front of others due to her past experiences, but with S/O she has to reserve her usual "vengeance" speak.
- S/O is a far more gentle person, especially if it's only the two of them in a room, so she doesn't want to hurt them with what she says, even though she doesn't mean it.
- Eula defaults to trying to deflect any type of compliment or insult off whenever people speak to her, so whenever S/O says something nice about her, she has to remain silent for a few moments before saying thank you in a hushed manner.
- It's still a bit awkward for them despite the fact they're used to it.
- Most of their time together is spent in a comfortable silence, just enjoying each other's company without anyone to judge them.
i saw it was ur birthday @solamber and decided to write u smth a little small !!! i hope u like mwah !!!
summary: a strange gift is left on your desk; just who could be the mystery sender? (genshin impact scaramouche, yanfei, xiao, & hu tao x reader)
scaramouche:
the box is crudely wrapped; the blue wrapping paper crinkled and ripped like whoever was gifting it was doing so on a deadline. your first instinct is that this is a package that was dropped off of a mail cart, but upon seeing your name written plainly on the tag outside, your curiosity is piqued.
inside is a folded piece of parchment, the wax seal keeping it closed could belong to none other but the balladeer. the box inside contains more parchment, these wrapped up more carefully. upon inspection, they're music sheets, compositions for lyre song that you suspect was written by scaramouche himself.
the note written to you reads; "celebrating one's day of birth is something for sentimental fools... but it has been a long while since i have last seen you, and felt this would be the best time to check and see if you're still alive. i know you must miss me so, but trust that in time, we will be reunited. if you're lucky, i may even play that song for you."
underneath the smudged ink at the bottom reads: "don't get too cocky knowing i wrote this song for you... you just so happen to be the only person i can stand. and i don't wish to owe you one from you giving me a gift on my birthday last year so ...happy birthday".
yanfei:
perfect would be too lax a word to describe just how beautifully decorated that box that sits in front of you is. the wrapping is a rose gold, golden and pastel pink bows tied neatly around its sides. it's symmetrical all around, and that alone clues you in as to who is the gifter of your birthday present. fresh silk lilies sit cut in a vase beside it, no doubt an extra gift from your favorite lawyer.
it almost feels criminal to open it, but eventually you do, and find a card on honey yellow paper sitting on top of another box of the same color.
the card reads; "happy birthday! i can't believe it has been a year that i've spent with you. each and every day i am with you is far too short, which is why tomorrow i've taken off of work so we can do something extra special, all-day long together. i love you! so, so much! and hope you like your gift. here's to many, many more birthdays spent together!"
inside the box is a beautifully ornate memories book, each page filled with pictures from your dates together. the lantern festival, the moonchase festival, your first and most recent dates â everything was recorded visually. along with little notes about yanfei's most memorable moment from each day, or pressed flowers that you had gifted her sealed within the pages. you could see how deep her affections ran with each and every word.
xiao:
there is no wrapping, and instead the gift lays out on your desk in the open, a piece of paper folded unevenly sitting beside it. a fresh cut of qingxin flowers tied up with twine. those flowers were notoriously hard to find; did he spend all morning gathering these up before delivering them to you? or was hopping across mountaintops easy work for an adeptus?
it was obvious by the messy scrawled handwriting that it was xiao's gift. the note reads; "i hope you like the small gift i got for you. i know mortal's birthdays are a big deal to them, so i thought you might like something like this... anyways, if you would like to see me simply call out my name. anytime, anywhere i will be there for you." and then, much messier, scratched out at the bottom reads: "this may seem like a selfish request but... if we could dance in the light of the fireflies tonight, together... i feel that would be... never mind."
underneath the note lay a small hairpin, shaped like a butterfly in beautiful turquoise and purple. he put a lot of thought into making you happy.
hu tao:
you know what hu tao's gift boxes look like. she often likes pranking you by putting lizards or frogs inside of them and leaving them at your doorstep. but this time the wrapping is more fun, more colorful; and there are no air holes poked into the top. it is a plain paper box with doodles all over it â mostly comprising of you and her holding hands, along with some of her ghost friends. it makes a smile grow on your face.
taking off the top of the box, inside are a whole bunch of knick-knacks; pretty crystals and wildflowers surrounding the center wherein lays paper dolls of the two of you, holding hands like on the outside of the box. underneath is a hand-knitted sweater, a cute ghost embroidered on each of the sleeve ends, and stitching on the chest that reads "HU TAO WANTS ME, SPIRITS FEAR ME". what would a gift from hu tao be if not a bit embarrassing.
"happy, happy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! hehe, i hope you like your gift, i promise it's not cursed or anything â i actually made it with lots and lots of love! i'm glad i've gotten to see you grow in this coming year. no matter where you go, your favorite boo tao will be with you! so let's enjoy the time we have together, until we die!"

ayaka
-sheâs a lil shy about it, but she loves holding your hand!
-she blushes in surprise when you randomly grab her hand and hold it.
-on the days you go out to eat, youâll hold hands with her, putting your hands on the table.
-it makes her blush, but she loves it.
-even when asleep, sheâll hold your hand.
-cute
ây-y/n?!â ayaka exclaimed when you intertwined your hand with hers, placing them on the table.
âwhat? can i not hold hands with my totally adorable girlfriend?â you laughed as her face reddened.
âi-i never said that you couldnât!â she quickly said, attempting to cover her face with the one hand that wasnât holding yours.
âaw, i was just teasing, aya~â you kissed her cheek. âlove ya!â
at this point, she was a flustered mess. all she could do was mumble in response.
you smiled.
archons, she is adorable.
yoimiya
-YES!!
-she LOVES holding your hand!!
-actually, a lot of the time, she does it without even realizing.
-sometimes when sheâs talking, sheâll just grab one (or both) of your hands and hold it tightly.
-when watching fireworks, yoimiya will most definitely hold your hand.
-if you pull her into your lap, sheâll lean into you while watching the show.
-if you tell her what she did after, sheâll just laugh and tease you for liking it.
-overall, yoimiya finds hand holding a wonderful way to show affection.
âhm..? yoimiya?â you hummed as her hand suddenly found its way to yours.
she intertwined it with your hand, eyes sparkling as she watched the fireworks. She paid no attention to the light blush dusting your face.
âAh..â you wanted to tell her, after all, she probably did it on accident. itâs likely she didnât mean to hold your hand. however, you decided against telling her. you⌠quite enjoyed it, actually.
âwell then,â smiling, you squeezed her hand.
you saw a small smile form on yoimiyaâs face. though she didnât look away from the bright, flashing fireworks, you could tell that she certainly was aware that you had embraced her hand in yours.
and that was how she liked it <3
kokomi
-absolutely!!!
-def loves to hold your hand, any time, any place.
-in fact, kokomi does more than that.
-sheâll kiss your hand!
-randomly, sheâll grab your hand, smile that sweet cute smile at you.
-sheâll squeeze it softly a few times
-then bring it up to her lips and kiss it!
-cute!
-she really loves the way that your face heats up, and how you cutely cover your face with your hands.
ây/n? could you show me your hand, please?â kokomi asked, smiling.
you tilted your head a bit, but showed her your hand.
âthank you, mwah!â and with that, she kissed the back of your hand, looking up at you happily as your face slowly flushed red.
âkokomiiii⌠weâre in public..â you whined, looking away from her.
âand?â she giggled âif you donât like that, then maybe youâd prefer..â placing your hand directly in the palm of her hand, she intertwined her fingers with yours, squeezing a few times.
if it was possible for your face to look redder, somehow, it had certainly happened.
âs-sweetheart-!â you exclaimed, feeling very hot.
âhm?â she looked at you. âmy dear, whatâs the matter?â
quieting down, you kissed her cheek.
âi love you⌠even though you.. can be mean⌠sometimes.â
âi love you too, y/n!â
yae miko
-yeah sheâs down!!
-especially if you get really flustered about it.
-yae LOVES seeing your face flush red when she randomly grabs your hand.
-and you can bet sheâll tease you about it!
-âaww, youâre blushing arenât you? yes, you are, love~â
-this fox is certainly a lover of flirting, and genuinely making you blush.
-sheâs very good at it as well!
-so, good luck to the easily flustered~
âaH!â you exclaimed when your girlfriend grabbed your hand.
âwell, that was certainly an adorable noise.â she chuckled.
âmmmâŚ.â you grumbled, flustered.
âaww, all it takes to fluster you is simply just holding your hand?â yae smirked, using her other hand to pat your head.
âyaeeee please⌠why nowâŚâ you squeaked as she headpatted you.
âbecause your reactions are just adorable!â
you whimpered flusteredly, nuzzling her neck, which made her giggle.
âwhy is everything you do so cute, hm? what IS your secret?â
âIDONTKNOWIDONTKNOWIDONTKNOWâ
âhaha.â she purred.
clearly, yae enjoys teasing you.
baal/ei
-i feel like she would!
-i wouldnât say sheâd show you off to others, but internally, she would be like
-âhah yeah now everyone knows that this is my partner!â
-so holding hands with her would make her quite happy!
-baal just loves spending time with you in all honesty,
-being a god is just⌠tiring, yk?
-but i digress.
-also, like kokomi, she definitely loves kissing your hand.
-hah.
âbaal?â your head tilted as her hand suddenly found its way to yours, fingers intertwining. âwhat are you doing?â
âiâve been informed that⌠handholding is a common way to show intimacy.. soâŚâ baal said quietly. âif you donât like it, i can always.. move.â
you shook your head. âno no, i like this.â you squeezed her hand to emphasize your point. âi just didnât expect it, is all.â
âah.â she nodded.
you leaned up to kiss baalâs cheek, smiling when she made a quite adorable noise out of surprise.
âpeople donât tell you this enough, but youâre really cute, o great shogun~â
âcute? thatâs.. certainly a new one.â she turned her head away quickly, but you could see her face flushing red.
âitâs true! and iâm surprised you donât get told this more often, but then again, only i get to see this side of you.â
ââŚdork.â she laughed flusteredly.
who knew inazumaâs archon could be so cute??
