It’s 2015. If doctors don’t know how to operate on fat bodies. Then they shouldn’t be doctors. We have enough resources an equipment to deal with “obese” patients. There is no need for the medical community to continue fat shaming. 

'I know they are going to die.' This foster father takes in only terminally ill children

Mohamed Bzeek knew that. But in his more than two decades as a foster father, he took them in anyway — the sickest of the sick in Los Angeles County’s sprawling foster care system.

He has buried about 10 children. Some died in his arms.

Now, Bzeek spends long days and sleepless nights caring for a bedridden 6-year-old foster girl with a rare brain defect. She’s blind and deaf. She has daily seizures. Her arms and legs are paralyzed.

Bzeek, a quiet, devout Libyan-born Muslim who lives in Azusa, just wants her to know she’s not alone in this life.

“I know she can’t hear, can’t see, but I always talk to her,” he said. “I’m always holding her, playing with her, touching her. … She has feelings. She has a soul. She’s a human being.”

He’s the only one that would take a child who would possibly not make it.— Melissa Testerman, Department of Children and Family Services intake coordinator

Of the 35,000 children monitored by the county’s Department of Children and Family Services, there are about 600 children at any given time who fall under the care of the department’s Medical Case Management Services, which serves those with the most severe medical needs, said Rosella Yousef, an assistant regional administrator for the unit.

There is a dire need for foster parents to care for such children.

Justice for Muhammad Muhaymin

With at least three officers on his legs and back — and yet another applying a knee to his head and neck — the Black man in his 40s cries out “I can’t breathe” multiple times.

“Please Allah,” he says.

“Allah? He’s not going to help you now,” one of the officers struggling to cuff him says. 

“Just relax.”

“Please help me,” the man says, in between screams. “Please.”

“Relax!” an officer says. “Stop resisting.“The man’s shrieks and utterances become groans. His body goes limp, he falls silent, and vomits.Moments later in the bodycam footage, an officer can be heard saying, "He’s dead.” CASUALLY.

“Three years ago, Phoenix had its own "I can’t breathe” case. But its outcome has so far been very different than that of George Floyd’s.

In 2017, Muhammad Abdul Muhaymin Jr. tried to take his dog with him to the bathroom at a city community center in west Phoenix. The police were called, discovered he had a warrant for his arrest, and decided to detain him.

At least four officers got on top of him and held him down. Some put their knees on his neck and head.

“I can’t breathe,” Muhaymin is heard saying several times in police body camera footage. When officers eventually got off him, Muhaymin had no pulse, according to comments from officers in the video, and lay in a pool of his own vomit.

He was 43, unarmed and black”

The death of Muhaymin is the subject of a $10 million lawsuit his sister filed in U.S. District Court in Arizona. The lawsuit is against the 10 officers, a city parks and recreation employee and Phoenix. The Phoenix Police needs to be restructured  by better training officers and doing better background checks on officers while giving Muhammad and his family the justice he deserves by putting the murderers who killed him in jail.

Painting some studies

there was a 15 year old pakistani boy who was beaten half to death with a baseball bat by two white men in ontario, canada not far from where i go to uni and he had to crawl home and was in surgery for days for his cracked skull and several other injuries and is experiencing serious issues with memory and motor skills now. i literally can’t stop crying because he’s just a kid and when he finally did make it home, he lied to his parents that he “just fell” because he didn’t want to worry them and that’s literally tearing me up inside that this boy was so severely beaten that he almost died and still his foremost concern was not worrying his parents. no one deserves to be attacked like this, but the more i learn about him and how shy and quiet and inward of a kid he is it just fills me with the utmost rage that someone could do this to such a harmless, innocent, completely defenceless kid. idk how demonic these two white men had to be that they could beat anyone, let alone a child, so savagely
