Pure fluff | You and Xavier wake up one morning to a surprise snowstorm
Your alarm blares right on schedule. Each ring causes your head to throb as you slap at your bedside table in an attempt to turn it off. You are too comfy to get up now. Your blankets are just the right warmth, and you rest comfortably against Xavier’s chest, his arms wrapped around your waist. However, you have to go to work. It’s mornings like these that make you wish you were unemployed. You yawn and rub your eyes as you shift to the edge of the bed, but Xavier’s grip tightens, pulling you back against him.
“Five more minutes,” he mutters in his sleep. You giggle to yourself as you unlatch his arms from your body.
“Xavier, we have to work today. It’s time to get up.”
“I don’t wanna.” You playfully roll your eyes. Xavier is not a morning person. He has the sleeping schedule of a cat and would sleep all day if he could.
“I’m making tea. That’ll help you wake up.” Xavier quietly whines as you leave the bed.
Shuffling to the kitchen, you yawn again as you grab the teabags and kettle. You are beyond exhausted. Everyday, you wake up before dawn to hunt down and fight wanderers until late at night. The physical strain of your job is taking a toil on your body. You could really use a vacation sometime soon. As you fill the kettle with water from the sink, you glance out the window to see snow flurries in the air.
You drop everything as you stare out the window. The weather forecast said nothing about the possibility of snow. It’s supposed to be the last below-freezing day of the year before the temperature starts to rise for spring, but here you are, watching as the snow begins to come down harder.
You throw on Xavier’s white hoodie that’s lying on the couch and walk onto the balcony mesmerized. Sure enough, a fresh blanket of snow covers Linkon City. An alert sounds on your hunter’s watch:
Attention: Due to heavy snowfall and road closures, hunters are not required to come into the office today. Be alert for mission requests if an emergency does arise in this weather. Enjoy your snow day.
“Does this mean we can go back to bed?” a voice says behind you. You turn to see Xavier also standing in the snow with a blanket wrapped around his shoulders. Snowflakes stick to his hair, almost blending in with the color.
“Xavier, it’s snowing!” You grin as you point at the city, your eyes lighting up with joy.
Xavier laughs. He wraps the blanket around the both of you, pulling you against him. “I know. We also don’t have to work, sooo…” Xavier kisses the tip of your nose. “Let’s get back in bed where it’s warm. You’re freezing.”
Whether it’s because the cold air zapping all the energy out of you or the comfy heat radiating off Xavier enveloping your body, exhaustion overtakes you, and you fully lean into Xavier’s embrace. You can’t help but feel giddy from this wonderful surprise.
“Yeah, let’s go back to bed.”
Xavier wastes no time, practically teleporting the two of you back into the bedroom. In just a moment, you are under the covers in the exact same position you were in before the alarm went off.
Xavier hums in satisfaction as he nuzzles your neck. “You’re wearing my hoodie.”
“Is that okay? I didn’t even think before putting it on.”
“Mmhm, you look good in it. I don’t mind you wearing my clothes.” His emphasis on the word “my” causes heat to rush to your cheeks. You cover your face with the blanket out of embarrassment. Xavier chuckles as he pulls it back down. “Don’t hide. You’ll suffocate under there.”
You turn over to face Xavier. Looking into each other’s eyes, a quiet peace fills the room. Your morning wish came true, and now you get to have a day of rest with your favorite person. You couldn’t ask for more.
“You know,” he whispers, breaking the silence, “I’ve always liked snow days. They allow me to stay home and sleep as much as I want, but I like them a lot more now.”
“Why is that?”
Xavier kisses your forehead. His lips move down your face, and your breathing hitches. “Because,” he says in between kisses, “I get to have you all to myself.”

Summary: Your husband is calling you, but a little gremlin keeps declining it.
Tag: @teewritessmth @mitskunicheesecake @rcvcgers @vspxriddles @iloveh4nge
Zayne sat in the doctor’s lounge, his phone pressed to his ear as he listened to the call ring. Once. Twice. Then—
Call Declined.
His brows furrowed slightly. His hands, steady enough to perform the most delicate heart surgeries, tightened around the phone. He tried again.
Ring. Ring.
Call Declined.
Zayne exhaled slowly through his nose, his grip relaxing, Maybe you were busy. You were probably playing with Elias or cooking dinner Mayne in the shower? He wasn’t the type to overthink, but something about the repeated declines made his stomach twist in a way he wasn’t happy about.
Still, he didn’t want to be a nuisance or cause you unnecessary troubles. He wasn’t the type to text “Call me” like other husbands either, He just sat there for a moment, staring at his phone, before getting up and heading back to work.
He had patients waiting.
Back home, Elias sat cross-legged on the couch, his tiny fingers curled around your phone. Every time it vibrated, his eyes narrowed, and without hesitation, he pressed the red button.
“Papa’s calling,” you pointed out, watching from the kitchen as Elias, without a second thought, hung up again.
He didn’t say a word. Just held the phone like a little dragon hoarding treasure.
You wiped your hands on a towel and walked over, sitting beside him. “Sweetheart, why are you declining Papa’s calls?”
Elias finally looked up at you. His expression was unreadable—so much like Zayne’s that it almost made you laugh. After a moment, he mumbled, “He’s busy.”
You blinked. “That’s why you’re hanging up on him?”
A short nod.
Your heart softened. Elias was a quiet child, much like his father, and even at four years old, he had an odd way of thinking. He wasn’t upset. He wasn’t being stubborn. In his little mind, he just thought he was helping.
You smiled and ran a hand through his soft raven colored hair. “Baby, Papa wouldn’t call if he didn’t want to talk. He’s probably on a break and missing us.”
Elias frowned slightly, as if the thought hadn’t occurred to him. He shifted on the couch, staring at the phone. “…Oh.”
You chuckled. “Should we call him back?”
Elias hesitated, then nodded.
Zayne was halfway through reviewing a patient’s chart when his phone vibrated.
Incoming Call: My Love
His fingers moved instinctively, answering before the first ring finished. “Hello?”
“Papa.”
Zayne blinked. It wasn’t you. It was Elias.
The little voice on the other end sounded almost… guilty?
“Elias.” Zayne glanced at the time. “You should be in bed soon.”
A pause. Then, in a quieter voice, “…I hung up your calls.”
Zayne froze. He hadn’t expected that. His first instinct was to ask why, but before he could, Elias continued.
“You were busy. I didn’t wanna bother you.”
Zayne’s grip on the phone tightened. He looked down at his hands, But right now, his own heart ached in a different way.
He wasn’t good with words. Never had been. But there was one thing he knew.
“Elias.” His voice was firm, steady. “You never bother me.”
Another pause.
Then, a quiet, “…Oh.”
Zayne exhaled. “Is Mama there?”
You took the phone, laughing softly. “Your son thought he was being considerate.”
Zayne pinched the bridge of his nose. “Of course he did.” His voice was softer than usual. “Tell him he can always pick up my calls.”
“I think he understands now.” You turned to Elias, who was now curled against your side, looking deep in thought. “Say goodnight to Papa.”
Elias hesitated, then muttered, “Goodnight, Papa.”
Zayne swallowed. He wished he was home.
“Goodnight, Elias. I’ll see you in the morning.”
When Zayne finally stepped through the door that night, the house was quiet. You were already in bed, and Elias was asleep in his room.
Or so he thought.
As he passed Elias’ door, a tiny voice mumbled, “…father?”
Zayne stopped. Slowly, he pushed the door open.
Elias was sitting up in bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes.
Zayne hesitated. He wasn’t good at this. But he walked inside, sitting on the edge of the bed. “Shouldn’t you be asleep?”
Elias didn’t answer. Instead, he reached out with his small hands and grabbed onto Zayne’s sleeve. Not saying anything, just… holding on.
Zayne stared at him before sitting on the edge of his bed.
Then, without a word, he gently rested a hand on his son’s head.
It wasn’t much.
But for them, it was enough.
Xavier stood in the middle of a blood-soaked battlefield, his sword still dripping as he exhaled. The fight had been over in minutes—another nest of Wanderers cleared out.
He wasn’t in a hurry to return to headquarters. Instead, he yawned and pulled out his phone, pressing your number.
Ring. Ring.
Call Declined.
Xavier stared at the screen, brow twitching slightly. That was odd. He tried again.
Call Declined.
The corner of his mouth twitched. He wasn’t a man prone to overreaction, but something about his own family declining his calls irritated him. He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. Maybe you were busy. Maybe—
He teleported.
One second, he was in a ruined village surrounded by monster corpses. The next, he was in the living room of his own home.
The sight that greeted him made his left eye twitch.
Leo and Livia—his five-year-old twins—were sitting on the couch, your phone between them, giggling.
Livia saw him first. Her eyes widened, and she smacked Leo’s arm. “Abort mission! Papa’s here!”
Leo nearly dropped the phone. “Crap.”
Xavier didn’t speak for a moment. He simply stared, exhausted, disappointed, and vaguely impressed all at once. “…You two.”
The twins immediately shot to their feet, but it was too late. He was already in front of them, towering over their tiny forms. His sword was still strapped to his back, his hunter uniform stained with dried Wanderer blood.
They didn’t look scared. If anything, they looked ready to bolt.
“…Explain.” His voice was even, calm—but that made it worse.
The twins exchanged glances before Livia, ever the mastermind, said, “Mom said you were busy!”
Leo nodded rapidly. “Yeah! You were fighting monsters, right? We didn’t wanna bother you!”
Xavier sighed through his nose, rubbing his temples. “You declined my calls.”
Livia pouted. “Well… yeah.”
He inhaled deeply. He was not good at this. Discipline, affection—none of it came naturally to him. He could gut a monster in seconds, but parenting? That was an entirely different battlefield.
He crossed his arms, giving them a firm look. “That’s not happening again.”
Leo groaned. “But why? You never talk much anyway!”
Xavier blinked. He squatted down to their level, eyes narrowing. “You have a death wish, don’t you?”
Livia elbowed Leo. “Idiot. Now we’re really in trouble.”
Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose, exhausted beyond belief. He should just pick them up and force them into a timeout—he had the strength for it. But before he could, Livia clapped her hands together.
“Leo, Plan B!”
Leo gasped. “Yes, Plan B!”
Xavier frowned. “What the—”
Before he could react, Livia sprinted left while Leo ran right.
Teleportation was an option, but honestly? He was too damn tired. He just sighed and walked toward the kitchen, knowing exactly where they’d end up.
And there you were, standing at the counter, watching the chaos unfold like it was a normal Tuesday.
Without looking at him, you asked, “I take it you figured out why your calls weren’t getting through?”
Xavier leaned against the counter, exhaling. “Your kids are demons.”
You raised a brow. “My kids?”
He gave you a tired look. “They didn’t get it from me.”
Before you could argue, the sound of a crash echoed from upstairs.
A beat of silence. Then Leo’s voice: “I’LL FIX IT, I PROMISE!”
Xavier closed his eyes, counting to ten.
An hour later, the twins sat on the couch, pouting as Xavier stood in front of them. He wasn’t a loud father. He didn’t yell. But his silent disappointment was somehow worse.
“You’re not getting out of this,” he finally said.
Livia crossed her arms. “It was for a good reason.”
“It was for a stupid reason.”
Leo kicked his legs. “But we didn’t wanna distract you.”
Xavier sighed, rubbing his face. “…You’re my kids. You can always talk to me.”
Livia blinked. “Even when you’re fighting monsters?”
He crouched down, staring at them. “Especially then.”
For the first time, the twins looked guilty.
Xavier softened just a fraction. He wasn’t great at showing affection to kids. He wasn’t the type to hug them randomly or constantly hold them. But he reached out, ruffling their hair roughly or cuddle up with his little demons.
“Next time you hang up on me, I’m making you run laps.”
Leo gasped. “That’s child labor!”
Livia clutched her chest. “You’re cruel, Father.”
Xavier stood, sighing. “You’ll live.”
That night, when the twins were asleep, Xavier sat beside you in bed, rubbing his temples.
“I don’t know how to handle them.”
You smiled, playing with his hair. “You’re doing fine.”
He scoffed. “They don’t listen to me at all.”
You chuckled. “They do. They just like pushing your buttons.”
Xavier sighed, leaning into your touch. “…Next time they ignore my calls, I’m teleporting them into a cold lake.”
You laughed, pressing a kiss to his forehead. “Sure you are.”
Xavier didn’t respond. He just yawned, closed his eyes, and finally—finally—slept.

❥ First time wearing his clothes
✎ AN: Xavier and MC are the best hunter duo, neighbours and close friends. A sudden predicament now threatens to change that dynamic (no angst, they're good). Reader is referred to as MC. Word count: 1.7 k Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee these are 100% compatible with the story and lore, I don’t have all cards and my memory only stretches so far.
❥ Xavier: You and Xavier finally return to HQ after a grueling long battle fighting wanderers on the outskirts of Linkon. Upon your arrival several coworkers showered you both with praise and applause earning awkward smiles from you, whereas Xavier remained as calm as ever as you both made your way toward the locker room. Suddenly you heard someone declare you and Xavier the best team of your branch. Feeling a warmth rise on your cheeks you carefully turn to look at Xavier who adorns a soft smirk whilst keeping his gaze firmly on the floor. He would never dare admit it, but he loved when people praised your teamwork. Not your skills individually, but the fact that you made each other better hunters and everyone knew it.
The door to the locker room closes behind you and a calm silence soothes both your headaches. Xavier looks at you for the first time since you got back and you both sigh in unison. A gentle smile plays on his lips as his body tries to relax. He stretches his arms out and turns his neck left and right in an attempt to loosen the strained muscles. You do the same. No one says anything but there is nothing awkward about this silence. You’ve worked together for so long now that you know the need for silence after long missions is a necessity, before you’re in any position to discuss the mission and how your tactics worked. You move toward your locker leaving muddy shoe prints in your path. Xavier disappears around the corner.
“Oh no…” You whisper as you stare at the contents of your locker. It’s not as full as you expected it to be. You look down at your uniform. It is covered in dirt, dust and mud. Taking the train home in your uniform usually grants you attention from strangers, but in its current state you’d basically be littering on the train.
“What is the matter?” You jump at the sudden sight of Xavier peeking out from around the corner. He’s in the middle of pulling a clean shirt onto his toned arms. You can’t help but stare and let your gaze linger a bit too long on his sculpted torso. Only when you notice he’s started working on the buttons of his shirt are you able to regain your sanity. His brows furrowed at your strange behavior and he pauses his buttoning to cross his arms and give you a concerned stare.
You swallow hard before you’re properly able to voice your concern. “I don’t have any clean shirts. I forgot I spilled coffee on my other one before we went out this morning.”
“Hm, this shirt is not really public transport friendly.” He moved closer to you and attempted to dust off the dried mud on your shoulder. He frowned. Not only was your shirt still dirty, his hand was too. He grabbed your wrist with the muddy hand and dragged you over to his locker.
“You can borrow my hoodie?” He reached into the locker and grabbed his neatly folded white hoodie with his clean hand.
“Why do you have your hoodie here? I thought everyone wore their uniform back and forth from work.”
“I faced a similar predicament as you are facing now, this morning. I had no clean shirts at home, but knew I had an extra here. I was supposed to do laundry yesterday, but I took a nap after work and forgot.”
You smiled at the thought of him napping, thinking of all the times you had accidentally woken him up when you’d call asking if he needed anything from the store, or if he wanted to join you for a jog.
“Take it. I don’t mind sharing with you.” He smiled and you melted. It was just an innocent smile, but his hold on you was growing with every passing day. You had shared many things over the course of your friendship. Books, drinks, dinners… Nothing beat sharing the couch with him, napping in opposite corners with your legs tangled in the middle. He was too tall for either of you to get properly comfortable, but you easily dozed off each time anyways. However, sharing his hoodie seemed more intimate… Such a clichè…
A familiar warmth reclaimed your face once more as you muttered out a thanks whilst returning his caring smile. You grabbed the hoodie and slowly turned around savoring an extra second of him in his half buttoned shirt before moving back toward your locker. That famous Xavier smirk reappeared when he carefully studied your frame as you walked away.
You returned from the bathroom clean and dressed. His hoodie reached the middle of your thighs, and the sleeves reached beyond your fingertips. You were certain no item of clothing had ever fit you so perfectly. Clutching the collar you lift it to your nose and take in his scent still lingering on the fabric. Xavier… My Xavier… At least you wished he was. Such a terrifying thing to admit to yourself. You were coworkers and neighbours, adding a romantic relationship to the list seemed very risky. What if it didn’t work out?
You reluctantly release the soft fabric from your grasp and take a few more steps to discover Xavier sitting at a bench waiting for you. Staring at you. His mouth stays quiet but his mind is racing at the sight of you being hugged by his favorite hoodie, almost an extension of himself. How he longed to wrap his strong arms around you. My MC…
The train ride home is the same as any other day. You shared earbuds whilst engrossing yourselves in literature. He was reading a sci-fi novel about time travel, your recommendation. You had attempted to discreetly nuzzle your face into his hoodie keeping your book intentionally low so you’d have to crane your neck down to see it. Every time someone walked past you the wind would aid his scent to your nose and make you lose your spot on the page, but you didn’t mind. You were not able to maintain focus on the book anyways. Xavier seemed enthralled by the drama happening in his fictional world and for the first time you found yourself wishing the normally welcomed silence to finally come to an end. Speak, Xavier… Look at me, really look at me… But he doesn’t.
You’re in the elevator slowly approaching the fifth floor. Each ding bringing you closer to an afternoon pining for the neighbour. You felt silly. You’d thought about Xavier a lot, but being engulfed in his essence seemed to have triggered something deep within you.
Xavier had purposefully positioned himself slightly behind you in the elevator. He had been sneaking glances the whole way home, but with your gaze safely away from him, he could look for as long as he wanted. The incessant dinging of the elevator snapping him back to reality for a split second before his body refills itself with the warm and fuzzy feelings he always got when he was around you.
He felt such a strong sense of pride walking home with you today. He always hoped that any stranger who passed you would assume you were in a relationship, but today surely, no one could question it. The hoodie draping over your smaller frame was clearly his. You looked beautiful. His hand slowly crept upward as if to stroke your hair, but he did not dare to actually touch you. He swallowed hard and let out a shaky breath as he longingly stroked the air behind you.
The final ding of your journey startled you enough to make you lose your balance a bit. The back of your head was met by a soft palm that did not linger. You quickly turned to face Xavier and an unfamiliar expression stared back at you. His eyes were wide, mouth slightly opened and his ears were bright red. A stark contrast to his silver hair.
“I’m sorry, I-I was just, uh.” The quilty hand that was still suspended in the air attempted to find refuge at the nape of his neck. You couldn’t come up with a response, too scared to make any assumptions regarding what his hand was doing so close to you.
“Oh, the door!” Xavier called out but the doors closed before he could get his feet to move. The sixth floor was now the next stop. His stop. Another ding and you’ve reached your final destination. He slowly cowers out of the small elevator and turns to face you as he exits. It looks like he’s about to say something but you beat him to it. Shit… You wish he had gotten the chance to speak first.
“I’ll wash your hoodie and return it t-to you t-tomorrow.” Your vocal cords betray you as you can barely stutter out the words. Xavier slowly nodded before the action transitioned into him shaking his head vigorously.
“No!” He exclaimed as he reached out to grab your arm. He misses but get’s a firm grasp on the sleeve of his hoodie quickly pulling you out of the elevator before the door closes, threatening to separate you from him once more. He wrestles with the idea of pulling you further into his embrace but settles on grasping your wrist with his other hand and holding it securely to his chest.
“Would you maybe like to join me for dinner, MC? We can make something together, or get take out, whatever you feel like.” There is a sense of urgency and desperation in his voice and you can’t help but lean into the hope that his sudden lack of composure might mean what you hope it does. Your hand hovering over his racing heartbeat certainly gives off such an impression. This dinner invitation was different to past meals you’ve shared.
You look up at him and smile fearing that your words will fail you. He catches on and lets out a sigh of relief as you both move toward his door. He suddenly pauses and reaches out to stop you.
“Just in case my intentions weren’t clear.” He says as his hand wanders up the sleeve of his hoodie searching for yours. His slightly sweaty palm gently grabs yours and you suck on your bottom lip trying to contain the smile threatening to explode. You slowly move further down the hallway as you both relax into the security of each other's touch. It feels so right…
The door unlocks but before he enters he turns to you and says “Oh, um, please don’t wash the hoodie before returning it to me.”
✎AN: And they lived happily ever after. Had to get a tiny bit of freak Xavier in at the end there, hope you don't mind. English is not my first language, so I hope you'll cut me some slack.

Dad!Xavier falls asleep all the time on the play mats during tummy time. You have a lot of pictures of the two of them snoozing together, Xavier’s hand on the baby’s back to keep them safe.
Dad!Xavier can and will eat the baby’s food out of curiosity. I mean, it’s right there and he wants to know what the baby is eating. They like this weird peas and carrots mixture so it has to taste good, right? You’ve also definitely caught him stealing the baby’s unfinished cheerios.
Dad!Xavier likes to take the baby outside and sit with them under the stars. He loves the way the stars reflect in their eyes. He'll teach them about them when the baby is older.
Dad!Xavier always manages to put the baby down for bed easier than you do. You don’t know how he does it but they could be crying up a storm in your arms and the second he takes them, they’re out like a light. It always makes him smile.
Dad!Xavier spends hours in the rocking chair. He likes to hold the baby against his chest and just rock for hours. You’ve found them asleep like that.
Dad!Xavier likes to lay on the ground with the baby and just listen to them babble. He adds an encouraging word here or there but he just loves the sound of their voice. The baby loves the sound of his voice too, especially for bedtime stories.
Dad!Xavier sometimes gets a little jealous of the baby. He knows it’s silly but the baby has all your attention and he misses you sometimes. He mitigates this by stealing your attention while the baby is asleep.
Dad!Xavier is NOT a good cook. You still cook for the most part but he steps up by cleaning more. It’s not perfect since a child tends to cause a whirlwind of mess but you both try and that’s all you can really ask for from each other when you’re raising a baby.
A/N: what the title says :) . I've always been someone that people have come to with their problems (forever the therapist friend) and comforting them. But I was thinking about what it'd be like to see the lads men cry, as there's a stigma around men crying (which is stupid but anyways). They're a lil short, but I hope you enjoy!
Warnings: a lil angst, mentions of death, comfort, crying

Rafayel
When Thomas called you saying Rafayel had been dodging his calls all day, you weren't surprised. That was typical of your boyfriend. You decided to give him a call and maybe persuade him to finish a painting or two, but he didn't answer. Growing slightly concerned, you called again, but still nothing. Rafayel never missed your calls. He had even answered one day when he was using the bathroom, never wanting to miss a call from his muse. Since you were off work today anyway, you decided to pay him a visit, grabbing your keys and heading to his place.
It was eerily empty in his house, which worried you even more. Something was off. Had he decided to go on a spontaneous trip out of town? He would have answered your calls then. You decided to try calling him again, not knowing what else to do. Your heart sank when you heard the familiar jingle play, going towards his phone that was going off. Rafayel had left his phone behind. Even more unheard of. The first place you thought of to look for him was the sea, the beach outside his house. If he wasn't there, there were a few more places to try, but that was the closest place. Opening his back door, you stepped out into his yard, leaving it and walking along the sand.
You had almost decided to turn around and look somewhere else when you spotted a figure up ahead. The head of lilac hair told you it was Rafayel. His knees were pulled to his chest, sitting in the sand, his head gazing out to the sea, his clothes soaked as sat where the waves met the sand, the waves brushing up against him. A breath of relief left your lips, though you were still concerned. Picking up your pace, you jogged over to him, watching him as you got closer. You could tell that something was wrong in the way he sat and gazed out to the sea. Slowing down when you were close, you could see tears falling like pearls from his eyes, slipping down his face and splattering into the sea water. Your heart broke at the sight, carefully moving to sit next to him, not caring about getting your favorite pants soaked. When your arm wrapped around him, he jumped slightly, turning to see who had joined him. Saying nothing, you pulled him closer to you, his head easily falling onto your chest, a silent way of telling him it was okay to be crying. A way to tell him that you were there for him.
His arms unraveled from his legs and wrapped around you, the sea beginning to soak your legs and his tears soaking your shirt. You brought a hand up to his head, patting his hair as he cried. When he seemed to settle, his tears slowing, you broke the silence. “What happened?”
“It's nothing,” he muttered.
“If it got you out here crying and not answering my calls it's not nothing,” you argued.
“Sorry,” he hid his face. You gently placed a hand on his cheek, encouraging to face you.
“You don't need to apologize, Raf. I'm more worried than anything. You know you can talk to me, right? You can cry or scream or pout in front of me and I won't run. I care about you so very much.”
“I miss home,” his voice broke slightly as he admitted what was bothering him. You nodded in understanding, staying silent. “I miss Lemuria. My friends and family. My home. The stupid fish and whales. I miss all of them and I'm the only one I can blame for that. It's my fault they're gone.” His words sat heavy in your hearts. He had told you of his history and past. You didn't remember what had happened, but believed him when he told you, feeling that the two of you were connected, the bond proving it.
“I can't say that's not entirely true, and I don't remember what happened, but I don't think you can blame just yourself. You still tried everything in your power to save your people. You fell in love. You were young. No one can blame you for that. I know my situation is completely different, but I miss home sometimes too. It's hard. I can't even imagine how much harder it is when your home literally no longer exists,” you told him. He nodded. “Do you regret what you did?” You suddenly asked.
“Not at all. I'd choose you every time,” he stated.
“Then you shouldn't take the full blame for what happened. You tried. You really did.”
Silence fell over the two of you as you watched the waves. You held him in your arms as he sat silently, a few tears falling every now and then. “Is there anything I can do to make your home here feel more like home? I can try to cook a dish from Lemuria or decorate your house,” you offered.
“You feel like home. Just you being here helps,” he admitted. I nodded.
“Then I'll be sure to come over more often. And if you find yourself missing home, tell me and I'll come. How about we head back and cuddle up? Watch a movie or something?” You offered, knowing snuggling was his ultimate weakness as well as comfort. He nodded in agreement. You stood first, offering your hand to him. He frowned, looking up at you.
“Those are your favorite pants, why did you come sit here?” He asked. You shrugged.
“Cause you're more important to me.”
“More important than that stupid bird plushie?” His eyes narrowed. You smiled at him. He held such a grudge towards the plush, as you chose one time to have it in your arms while you slept. “Even more than the plushie,” you smiled. He nodded, smiling and grabbed your hand standing up. He pulled you into his chest, hugging you.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“Of course. Let's get going.”
Hand in hand, you all walked back to his place. Once there, you both changed into dry clothes before ordering some food and picking a movie to watch. You had fallen asleep in his arms, too comfortable to not fall asleep. He smiled down at you, thankful that his bride had returned to him. Thankful that he still had part of his home.

Sylus
You waltzed into Sylus's office, excited to tell him about your promotion at work. But as soon as you entered, you froze mid sentence, looking at the sight before you. Your boyfriend, Sylus, sitting behind his desk, holding his head in-between his hands. When he looked up at you, his eyes were red, a few tears streaming down his face. He immediately looked away, praying you hadn't noticed. “Sy, are you,” you paused, stunned. “Crying?”
“No,” he spoke, voice hoarse. You carefully walked over to him, as if afraid to scare him by moving too suddenly. He was lying of course, tears evident on his face. Moving behind the desk with him, you awkwardly hugged him, lightly pushing his face into your chest as your arms wrapped around him.
“You know, you always tell me it's okay to cry and it doesn't make me any less strong, don't you know it's the same for you? It's okay to cry. Even when you're the big bad boss of Onychinus,” you whispered. He nodded, biting back tears. You stayed as you were, allowing whatever happened to happen. He was unsuccessful in holding back his tears, crying softly into your chest. It was still a shock to you. Sylus was the definition of someone who presented as if nothing could make him cry. It didn't bother you at all, it was just a surprise. Your concern though, was what had happened to make him cry. But you could ask later, and you did, when his tears stopped and he wriggled out of your grasp to grab a tissue. You watched him carefully, observing him. His nose and eyes red, expression downcast. It was unfamiliar to you. You had never seen or heard of him crying. “Wanna talk about it?” You asked. He licked his lips, unsure.
“If you don't mind,” he finally decided.
“Not at all,” you answered, moving to sit on his desk in front of him. He smiled softly up at you before taking a deep breath.
“Some dickhead went on a rampage in the N-109 zone. Slaughtered hundreds of men, women and children for fun,” he spat. “About a year ago, I ran into a child walking around on the street. She had lost her parents and I surprised everyone by supporting her. I found a place for her to live, I visited often to make sure she was doing okay and being taken care of. She was on her way here when she was killed in front of my eyes. I couldn't do anything to save her,” he finished, looking down and biting his lip. You were stunned at the news and furious that something so horrible had happened.
“Do you need me to go kill this guy? Because I will,” you offered. He chuckled at that.
“He's been taken care of. Got what he asked for, I made sure of that,” he informed me. You nodded.
“So it's the loss of this girl?” you carefully asked. He nodded.
“It's weird and even surprised me, but she kinda felt like a daughter,” he admitted. Not knowing what else to do, you stood up and hugged him.
“I'm sorry that happened. Truly,” you told him. He gave a slight nod and hugged you back, pulling you in closer.
“I should have gotten there faster. I didn't know she was there. If I was quicker she could have lived,” he whispered.
“You don't know that for sure. You didn't know she was there. There was no way to even know she was there. You did all you could, don't blame yourself. It's not your fault,” you soothed.
“It feels like it is,” he admitted.
“I know. But you weren't the one to take her life, you did all you could. It may be a bit too soon to think about, but do you want to hold a service for her? You said she lost her parents, so there's not really anyone to do a service,” you offered.
“That'd be nice. Luke and Kieran have her,” he informed me, words getting softer as the reality continued to hit him. You nodded and moved to place your hands on his cheeks, guiding his lips to yours and pressing a quick kiss to them. “I'll plan it, just tell me what she liked,” you smiled softly at him. He smiled back, sadly.
“Okay. Use my card for it all. She deserves the best service we can get.”
“And the best she will. Wanna go get cleaned up?” You asked, he nodded and you guided him to his bathroom, showering with him both literally and with love. Making sure to scrub off any remnants of his fight and loss. You could tell he was still processing it all, upset but not fully grasping the situation. Once clean, you forced him to eat some food before getting into bed with him. Usually, he'd hold you, but today was different. He half laid down on you, head resting on your chest as he listened to your heartbeat. A few tears fell every so often, but he no longer tried to hide them, the grief hitting him. You stayed with him, whispering words of comfort to him, rubbing his back.
It wouldn't be easy, but with you by his side, Sylus would hold the perfect service for the little girl and process his grief, thankful he had you by his side throughout the whole thing- whether he was strong or weak.

Xavier
When you woke up you were immediately confused, the unfamiliar sterile white ceiling staring back at you. You tried to move, but nothing happened. So you took in the surrounding sounds. The steady beep of a monitor, the sound of a distant fan and talking. You figured you must be in a hospital. It was then that you heard a sniffle, making you blink. You couldn't remember what happened. Who was here with you? Were they crying? Your eyes finally moved, glancing to the side and finding your boyfriend, Xavier. His eyes were red and puffy as he cried. He still had blood from wanderers splattered on his uniform. He looked like he had been through hell and back…maybe he had. “Xav,” you managed to croak out. His eyes widened as he saw you were awake.
“You're awake. How do you feel? Does it hurt anywhere? I'll get the nurse,” he rambled, standing up.
“What happened?” You asked, ignoring his questions. He froze in place and returned to your bedside, gently grabbing one of your hands. His hands trembled slightly, making you grow more concerned.
“I-im sorry. I couldn't get there in time, I was trying to warn you, but I failed and you were hit. Bad. I thought I was going to lose you and it was all my fault. All because I couldn't get to you in time. I'm so sorry,” he spoke, tears falling once again. You managed to shake your head.
“It's okay Xavie. I know you tried. You did everything you could, I'm sure of it. I'm okay now. You're not gonna lose me,” you comforted him. You wanted nothing more than to reach out to him, to hold him and comfort him while he cried. So you tried, gasping in pain when you tried to move.
“Don't move yet, you'll make it worse,” he scolded you immediately.
“I wanna hold you,” you admitted. He frowned slightly before getting up and laying in the hospital bed next to you, his arms carefully wrapping around you so he wouldn't cause any further pain. “Are you okay?” You asked him.
“I don't know,” he answered honestly. “I don't know what I would have done if I lost you.”
“You'd move on and live your life of course,” you told him.
“No,” he firmly stated. “I can't live my life without you. I promise I'll be faster next time.”
“There's no need to beat yourself up about this Xavie. Part of our job is risking our lives. It was an accident. It'd take a lot more to end me.”
“Promise?”
“I promise. I'm not leaving you any time soon, okay?” He nodded and hid his face in your neck. You managed to gain enough strength to lift your hand and rub his back, comforting him.
The nurse came in and he refused to move, which the nurse eventually accepted, mostly because you said you were fine for now. She asked a few questions and took the vitals she could manage to get without Xavier in the way, before leaving and informing you she'd be back later. When she left you placed your hands on Xavier's face, guiding him to look at you. You wiped away a few more tears with your thumb. “I've never seen you cry so much,” you admitted.
“Only because it's you,” he whispered, nuzzling into your hand. You hummed in acknowledgement. “We should get some hot pot when I'm released to cheer you up,” you mused.
“If it's what you want,” he agreed, making you pout at him.
“What I want is for you to cheer up. Of course it's okay to cry, but that doesn't mean I like seeing you cry. I want you to always be happy.”
“Then don't ever leave me,” he said seriously.
“I don't plan on it,” you smiled at him before softly kissing his lips.
“Good. Now get some more rest so you can heal up and come home,” he instructed. You nodded, moving your arms to snuggle closer to him, allowing his warmth to lull you to sleep.

Zayne
“Guess who's favorite patient is here?! Oh shit,” you suddenly stopped, still holding the door to Zayne's office, freezing in place. His head was in his hands, glasses thrown onto his desk, his hair messy. What really threw you off though, was when he looked up, fresh tears falling down his face. You hadn't seen him cry since you were children, crying over scrapes from concrete. He quickly wiped them away, unsure what to say. You were the same, still frozen in place. Once your brain decided to process that your boyfriend was crying, you hesitantly closed the door behind you and walked over to his desk. He watched uncomfortably. You weren't meant to see him in this state. Hell, he rarely was in a state like this, no one but him should see. “I- you- are,” you attempted to formulate a question, sighing when nothing that made sense came out. “Are you okay? What happened?” You finally asked. Your heart clenched at his reaction, his face welling up in pain before a sob left his throat. Concerned, you quickly made your way around his desk, pulling him into a hug. He buried his face in your stomach, gripping onto you tightly. You had no words, still stunned by the sight, hands instinctively rubbing his back.
You stayed like that until your back grew sore from the position, Zayne's tears stopping. He broke the hug and leaned back into his chair, apologizing. “I'm sorry you had to see me like that.”
“Don't be. Are you okay though?” You asked, knowing something was obviously wrong. He nodded.
“Yes. I guess I just got a bit overwhelmed. With the wanderer attack I haven't been home in days. I've barely slept or eaten. It's surgery after surgery, but I can't just not perform. That's someone's life. It hasn't been this back and forth in a while,” he explained. You nodded.
“Is there no one else who can do the surgeries? You need to rest,” you chided him.
“There wasn't. There is now. Fucking 72 hours later,” he breathed frustratedly.
“That explains why you hadn't answered my texts,” you mused. “I figured you were busy, but not this busy to where you haven't slept in days.” He nodded.
“Can we go home?” He asked, looking up at you. You smiled and nodded, bringing a hand to wipe away a stray tear. “I was going to leave after gathering myself, but you've already seen the worst of it.”
“I'm glad I did in a way. Of course, I hate seeing you like this, but I want to be there for you. Overwhelmed and crying or stoic and loving. I wanna see all of it. Want me to get your things?” You offered. He smiled and shook his head, his hand guiding the hand that was once on his cheek to his lips, pressing a kiss to your hand.
“I've got it. Thank you my love.” He stood and grabbed his things, packing away whatever he needed. You grabbed his hand and led him out of his office.
When you got to his home, you immediately instructed him to wash up while you cooked him something. He agreed, not bothering to argue, though a shower was definitely what he wanted at that moment. Before cooking though, you quickly slipped out, walking down the road to his favorite dessert spot and getting some sweets for him. The woman at the counter recognized you and immediately got together your usual order- filled with your and Zayne's favorites.
When you got back to his place you snuck back in, glancing to make sure he was still out of sight. Thankfully he was, opting to take a much needed long and hot shower. After placing the bag of sweets on the counter, you got to work. Zayne left the shower some time later, announcing his presence by hugging you from behind while you cooked, the scent of his body wash filling your nostrils. “Feel better?” You asked. He hummed in agreement. “Sleepy?” You chuckled. He made a noise of agreement, muffled as he hid his face in your shoulder, taking in your scent. He was relieved to finally be home. “I got you something,” you smiled down at the food you were making.
“You did? When?” He asked. You nodded to the bag on the counter.
“While you were in the shower. Thought you could use some sweets.”
“That's an understatement,” he chuckled. When the food was done, the two of you ate, you doing most of the talking as Zayne was tired. He was happy to listen though. He could listen to you talk about your day for hours. You could be reading a dictionary and he'd happily listen to every word. After eating, you did the dishes, slapping Zayne's hand away when he tried to help, instructing him to head to bed first. With a kiss pressed to your cheek, he listened.
Once done with dishes and getting yourself ready for bed, you joined Zayne, easily snuggling up next to him. He was half asleep, but still managed to thank you. “Thank you for this. You always know exactly what I need. All I wanted was to come home to you and sleep,” he admitted.
“I would agree, though my days haven't been quite as intense. I'm happy to take care of you. I'll ask off tomorrow so we can spend all day in bed,” you offered.
“You don't need to do that,” he insisted.
“Too late,” you smiled. “Get some rest, I love you Zayne.”
“Sleep well my love,” he mumbled out, falling asleep now that he has said everything he wanted to.

Caleb
You wanted to surprise Caleb. He was going to be in town and you hadn't seen him in a while. So instead of meeting him at your place, you decided to show up at his work. You were able to get through security pretty easily, as Caleb had brought you a few times when you visited. You excitedly knocked at his office door before opening it and stepping in. “Surprise!” You called out, a smile immediately turning into a frown when you saw him holding his arm, wincing as tears fell. You ran over to him, gently holding his mechanical arm and looking it over. “Caleb, are you okay? Where does it hurt?” You asked him.
“It's nothing,” he answered, stopping his tears. It was the same as when they were kids.
“How many times do I have to tell you it's not nothing if you're crying? That it's okay to cry in front of me?” You scolded him. “Now tell me where it hurts.”
“I know. But I'm supposed to be there for you, not the other way around. I don't need to be taken care of,” he argued.
“Everyone needs to be taken care of sometimes. That's how a relationship works. You're there for me and now I'm here for you, so stop hiding,” you sighed. He looked down, avoiding your gaze.
“It just got an upgrade. They usually hurt, but not this bad,” he softly explained.
“Do you think there was a malfunction? Should I notify your doctor?” You asked. He shrugged.
“I'm fine,” he got out, just before wincing again, his hand going to grab his shoulder. You frowned and picked up the phone on his desk, calling for the doctor.
“Let me take care of you for once,” you told him after putting the phone down, hand reaching to wipe away a few tears that he failed to hold back. “Losing an arm is reason enough to cry anyway. You don't have to pretend it doesn't hurt for me. I don't want you to do that at all.” He nodded, listening to your words. You wrapped your arms around him in a hug, patting his hair until there was a knock at the door. You moved to open the door, letting in two men dressed in lab coats. Caleb explained what was happening and the two worked together to take his vitals and work on his mechanical arm. You brought a chair next to Caleb, holding his hand as they worked. He tried his best to make it seem painless, but failed, wincing every now and then. After some time, the men left. “Better?” You asked him, rubbing his arm. He nodded.
“Yeah, sorry you had to see that,” he apologized.
“Apologize again and I'm leaving you. You were this bad when we were kids, how have you not changed at all? I cried all the time in front of you and still do and you don't think I'm weak, right?” You asked.
“Of course not. You're the strongest hunter I know,” he scoffed.
“Then why do you think crying is going to make you weak? You're still the strongest commander I know. Getting used to a mechanical arm can't be easy, not to mention, it's newer tech. There's going to be errors.”
“Yeah I guess,” he half heartedly agreed. You sighed, knowing there wasn't really a way to convince him. You decided on cheering him up the same way you did as when you were kids, knocking the hat off his head and throwing it across the room. “Wha-” he began laughing. You shrugged at him.
“Only way I know to cheer you up. Should I continue?” You threatened with a grin. He shrugged and you pounced, immediately your fingers finding the ticklish spot on his sides, attacking him. He bursted into laughter, attempting to push you away from him. Unfortunately for him, you were much stronger now than when you were kids. It wasn't until you felt the effects of his evol pushing you away, you were forced to stop. “That's cheating!” You yelled at him.
“I'm doing what has to be done. There are other ways to cheer me up now, pipsqueak,” he grinned, standing from his chair. His hand found your cheek, caressing it as he grinned at you. “Like this,” he whispered before leaning in and kissing your lips.
“Such a cheater,” you muttered, face flushed. He laughed and you felt the effects of his evol wear off. He wrapped his arms around you into a hug.
“Thank you though. For being there and not telling me I'm a wimp for crying over a little pain,” he whispered into your ear. You punched his chest lightly, pulling back to look at him.
“A little bit of pain seems like an understatement, but I won't argue further. You're welcome though.”
“Promise not to tell anyone about seeing me cry? I've threatened both of my doctors,” he admitted.
“So you crying and being in pain happens often?!” You exclaimed.
“I wouldn't say often-”
“Why didn't you tell me? I would have made sure to come to all the appointments I could have,” you interrupted, disappointed in him a bit.
“I'm sorry. I was stupid and truly believed you'd think I was a baby, still kinda worried about that if I'm honest,” he admitted. You crossed your arms on your chest.
“I don't think that. Never will. You've always been way stronger than me. Promise you'll start telling me when you have appointments?” You asked. He nodded.
“As long as you promise not to tell people I cry,” he agreed.
“Deal. Now can we go spend the weekend together? A new arcade opened up down the road from my apartment.” Caleb smiled at you before grabbing his coat (and the hat that was thrown across the room). He took your hand and led you out of his office, ready to spend time with his favorite person.

𝐗𝐀𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐑 has two sons, and definitely a present father to them. He never truly gave much thought about having kids with you in the first place, more content on having you all for himself. He wouldn't have a child unless you wanted one, seeing how you would look longingly at children and their families laughing together, and a part of him started to consider it as well. He's glad he did, because now he has his own personal constellation he calls home, you at the center, starlights that motivate him everyday. Given his own upbringing, he will never force his sons to do something they truly don't like and let them follow their heart’s desire. He had some insecurities at first, seeing he's never had a good relationship with his own father, fearing he might turn out the same as him. With enough reassurance from both you and his sons, he grew more confident that yes, he is a deserving dad and a great father despite the inevitable ups and downs.
The eldest son, looks a lot like Xavier mostly because he's got the same puppy eye shape and face structure, but oddly he doesn't get any of you or Xavier's eye colors
Xavier is taken aback the moment his son first opened his eyes, cradling him in his arms, his breath caught for a moment
It's something Xavier thought he'd hoped to never see again, ironically; a distant memory he's buried away, memory from home
But when Lance's eyes—a shade of forest green, gleaming into jade under the sunlight, like an eternal spring—look up at him with innocent wonder, the resemblance of his father’s eyes stops there.
Xavier can't help shedding a tear or two.
You didn't question it further, knowing enough about his past at this moment. The look of aching familiarity in Xavier's gaze was all it took to have some understanding
Xavier grew up being told he resembled his mother a lot more—his overall soft features and crystal blue eyes—something he was more grateful for, but genes sure are.. funny.
Lance loooooves Xavier's presence so much as a baby (even until his teen to adult but he’s never saying that out loud)
You would struggle putting him to sleep some nights alone when Xavier is somewhere on a solo mission
His cries seemed endless as you tried everything, from feeding him, to changing his diapers, to swaying him with a lullaby, yet nothing seems to work
Xavier comes home, utterly exhausted from his mission. He goes straight to Lance in your arms, sensing your own stress and exhaustion, wanting to help
You insist he needs to rest too, but the moment he's taken his son in his arms, the cries almost instantly settles down
“Sshhh, Dad's home now, baby. Let's sleep now, okay?” Xavier whispers as he gently sways him, the movement you were trying to emulate. He places a feather-light kiss on Lance's forehead, and like magic, he's asleep.
You stare at Xavier in awe.
Since then, it's been kind of a thing that Lance immediately just falls asleep faster in his dad's hold
Even when he grows into a toddler, he treats his dad like a beanbag (Xavier doesn't mind, not at all. It’s very welcome, encouraged even)
He would curl himself silently on his lap and immediately be knocked out. It was their shared routine.
You have a dedicated album for those moments that’s honestly an accurate montage of Lance’s growth. Every week there's a new wallpaper of them on your phone
Your personal favorite was when Lance is holding onto him like a koala bear and Xavier's splayed over the playmat like a starfish, sleeping without a care in the world
But then Lance hits puberty
So it gets awkward from then on, since he was growing taller by the day, gaining inches above Xavier's own height
“My baby is so big now..” Xavier pouts playfully, ruffling his hair.
Lance sighs. “Dad, can you not say that.. please..” But he makes no move to stop him anyways.
Xavier gets slightly upset over it. In his perspective, he can never be too old or too big to be his nap time buddy
You and Xavier call him your baby even well into his teens much to his dismay
The more he grows taller, the more he's a victim of being mistaken for Xavier's older brother
It's funny at first but Lance is like “🤨 Isn’t he supposed to be 40 something?”
When both you and Xavier are away, toddler Lance was left to the trusty babysitter Uncle Jeremiah
It seemed like a hassle at first but Lance was so quiet, too quiet even sometimes just playing by himself.
Jeremiah would get him to open up by telling random stories from other planets and such
Lance's favorite was him talking about Lumiere's exploits, because it was so highly detailed unlike other stories.
Learned to make flower crowns from scraps. You get one every time you come to pick him up.
“Look, Mommy is princess!” Lance would say proudly as you hold him, wearing the daisy flower crown you received from him.
Xavier smiles, leaning to place a kiss on both you and your son's cheeks. “No, Mommy is our queen, and you're our prince.”
Best believe teen Lance is the no. 1 Hater when he catches you and Xavier being loveydovey. he just finds it so cringe.
He's giving you both a nasty side-eye as you laugh at his disgust
He's quite athletic, but he used to hop from sport to sport because he can't really a feel to what he likes the most
A natural genius, the one that sleeps at the back of the class but somehow still gets one of the highest grades in their batch
He's unaware that he's the campus crush because of his weird intimidating but cool aura but in reality they have noooo idea he's a loser geek.
It’s really just his bitch resting face (courtesy of his mother), which image shatters when he smiles, bunny teeth and a small dimple on his cheek.
Very reserved. Doesn’t keep secrets but won’t share about himself until you ask. Like he would casually tell you he survived jumping off a cliff and give no context until you ask.
More of a listener than a yapper, so he’s seemingly dry to talk to but will remember every single thing you say
He’s learned to read people really well–an empath if you will–an ability he inevitably developed when his dad had a vault full of secrets and masked emotions.
He was bluntly honest as a kid, growing more tact as he matures later on
Although he can take hints about what others feel/think, it doesn’t mean he’s a pushover if they’re crossing a boundary, He’s not a people pleaser in terms of he’s not trying to fit into whatever norm is going on, just doing his best to live true to himself
Other than napping, his favorite past time as a kid was sword fighting with the endless collection of lightsabers he's got, battling against you and/or Xavier
It kind of becomes actual training sometimes, and you BET Xavier's old ass be saying:
“When I was your age, I already know how to parry.”
You give Xavier a look. “Honey, he's 6.”
Star Wars becomes his personality for the inevitable part of his childhood
And you bet you were the one spoiling him with all that merch. Lance's favorite was the Millennium Falcon lego set. He cried opening that Christmas gift
Inherited his massive geekiness from you
His core memory was sitting on Xavier's shoulders, his hands clutching his father's hair, you looping arms with Xavier side by side, as a Lego Star Wars parade marched on, fireworks in the background
Starstruck for an entire month after that
Loves it when you also tell stories about Lumiere at bedtime (unbeknownst to Xavier,) eyes twinkling and all.
Then he would also add his own stories he heard from Jeremiah, and you both just yap until you fall asleep
So respectful when he asks to borrow your Lumiere figurines.. and you LET him, which says a lot because those babies are expensive
Needless to say, Lance is also a talented swordsman, quite inspired to follow both of your footsteps as hunters
Your favorite memory of him was when you brought toddler Lance with you one time to the Hunter's Association, just to surprise Xavier for his birthday (yes, the man is still working, but you had a cake prepared for him and all)
The boy was a bundle of awe and wonder, loving how cool the hunters looked despite being shy to talk to them
He was literally being cooed and coaxed by your coworkers with candies and it was so cute to watch his round cheeks and ears become rosy from the attention
Xavier finally finished his mission, body growing heavy with exhaustion as he returned to HQ to fulfill his report. He settles down a bench, getting comfortable against the wall and about to lull into a nap when a loud voice echoes.
“Soooo, Lancey, who's your favorite hunter?”
Xavier shot up his seat, wide awake, the drowsy weight on his eyelids evaporated. He stumbled in his feet slightly from standing up too suddenly. Confusion knitted his brows. Why was his son here? Or was it another Lance?
He's now noticing the empty desks and his colleagues gathering around presumably his son. Slowly, he comes closer from behind, unnoticed by your officemates.
“But I have more than one favorite..” Lance says, and Xavier's ears perched. He found himself tiptoeing over the crowd trying to spot Lance. A smile graces Xavier’s face after spotting Lance– eyes glued on the floor, hands fidgeting over the candies given to him. He was sitting on your lap, hugging him in place, and you were smiling from ear to ear, your gaze on your son. Lance was slowly getting more comfortable, the shyness seeping out of him.
“Oohhh, so if you have to rank them then, what would it be?” someone quips, and your coworkers hit the dude’s shoulder playfully for the ‘scandalous’ query.
But it gets everyone curious, even both you and Xavier.
“Hmm.. it's Daddy and then Mommy and..” Lance mutters, and everyone is gasping dramatically, including you.
“Mommy’s lower than Daddy in your list?” You pouted in mock sulking, and it had Lance panicking a little.
“N-noo, Daddy's in third, and then Mommy is second, and then first is Lumiere!”
Everyone's laughing and hollering now.. except Xavier.
You finally notice him, standing as still as a statue–clear, utter, guttural, mind-shattering distraught in Xavier's face, and it unfortunately made you laugh harder that your stomach began to hurt. You swear his soul left his body.
Lance was confused why it was so funny to everyone, nervously laughing, then he also spots Xavier. He beams, a vibrant signature bunny smile with his two front teeth, and Xavier almost forgets he didn’t just rip out his heart a few seconds ago.
“Dad!” Lance hops off your lap, rushing over to embrace him around his waist. Everyone was cooing at them, greeting Xavier a happy birthday but he didn't really register them. His ears were still ringing from the revelation.
Xavier bends to his knees, giving him a proper embrace back. Lance looks up at him, still smiling, until he notices the pout on Xavier’s face.
“Dad, don't be sad..” Lance pouts too, patting Xavier's had the same way his father would if he was upset. Xavier nuzzles against his tiny hands.
“But why is Dad in third place..” Xavier asks, and you're dying at the back because his puppy eyes were at work. Everyone else was snickering to themselves.
But Lance wasn’t Lance unless he says his truth.
Lance tilts his head, thinking to himself. “Because.. um.. I don't know if Dad can beat Lumiere..?”
(Cue a series of ‘oooohhs’, and you scold them, telling them to go back to their stations now, and they do after much persistence.)
“Lanlan—now Dad's actually sad now.” You try to intervene before your son continuously bluntly destroys his Dad's heart.
“But why? My dad is still the best Dad in the whole universe.”
Lance states it like an undisputed fact, and Xavier's heart swells so much it tightens his chest.
Because Lance wasn't Lance unless he's saying his truth.
(Cue a series of ‘awwws’ from everyone in their desk cubicles.)
To him, that matters more than any hunter ranking. A deep part inside Xavier he's been holding for years is finally exhaled, filled in turn with relief. Lance never talks a lot, but when he does he really means it. In the void in Xavier's chest, was a star that burned brighter twinkling in the pattern of your laughter at that moment—he is another major star in Xavier's personal constellation, unabashedly warm and tiny, spring in his jade eyes and Lepus in his smile, contained perfectly in his embrace.
“Ah! I-I’m sorry—No cry!” Lance stammers as Xavier's eyes water, hands flailing on his face to wipe them, but Xavier thinks to himself that Lance has got nothing to apologize for.
Xavier just embraces him closer, face buried on his son's shoulder. He smelled of strawberry kids liquid soap and baby powder—home.
“Dad's very very happy, baby.” Xavier mutters, muffled by his clothes. “Thank you.”
“Happy birthday, my love,” You greet, inching closer with a lit birthday cake. The radiance of your smile in that moment couldn't be dimmed by anything.
Lance jumps excitedly in his grasp. “Oh yah! Happy birthday, Dad!”
That declaration was the best birthday gift he could ever receive.
youngest son, born 10 years after Lance
An unplanned baby (because of Freakvier) and the reason why Lance would give the both of you a nasty side-eye when you're both too lovey-dovey
“I thought Axel's favorite sleep buddy would be me, but now Lance has a mini-Lance the Koala Bear, part two.”
“Don't worry, honey. You're still my favorite pillow.” Xavier leans to kiss you, tender and soft, swallowing your giggles and the ‘you’re so cheesy’ you were about to say.
Lance walks in on that ill timing again, tangible disgust on his face, and with the meanest tone, he lets out—
“Ew.”
You're laughing, as Xavier pettily embraces you tighter, shameless that he's caught again. “You can knock you know, baby.” he says.
“Firstly, this is the living room. Second, one sibling is enough, please.”
“Lance!” You throw a pillow at him, and he just catches it.
“I’m not joking, Mom!”
Incredibly touchy since birth, doesn't get lulled to sleep other than when he felt he was skin to skin contact every time
Axel is a mini you with freckles reaching until his back, matching your face structure and hair, big blue eyes like Xavier's, but a deeper shade, with hints of brown in the middle
The reason his nickname is Axel was because when he was in kindergarten to lower elementary, he kept misspelling his name as “Axelander”
You, Xavier, and Lance later understand it was because he is dyslexic
The nickname stuck because Lance was kind of a bully as a kid (aren't all older brothers really) and would never stop calling him that.
Axel never took it to heart though and finds it funny.
It takes a lot to actually upset him, because he's sometimes unnaturally optimistic about everything. Imagine Laios from Dungeon Meshi? Yeh. That.
Although Lance has absolutely 0 tolerance when other kids would bully him seriously with the nickname. That's only his privilege.
In actuality, Axel doesn't really realize he was being bullied at all and was just happy his peers were talking to him
Sandy was your nickname to him, because his favorite place in the playground park was the sandbox and he gets absolutely dusted quite literally.
Lance actually has multiple nicknames for him. These include but aren't limited to: “Axelander Sanderson the Great,” “Sandman Eater,” (he ate sand at one point) and his favorite, “Axelotle”
Does not care that you and Xavier call him their baby until his adulthood.
The most creative comeback this boy can muster is.. “Uglancelot” and “Lame-cy” which doesn't even offend him it's just funny attempts
Despite that, he's actually very close to his brother even between you and Xavier, since he's taking care of him when you're both away on a mission
Unlike his brother and father, isn't easily sleepy; a light-sleeper.
His favorite pastime as a kid was recreating WWE moments on the mattress with any of you three.
And he looooves taking the Wanderer roleplay when they play swordfight with lightsabers
Because this baby’s special interest is Wanderers!
He would be listening to Lance and You rambling about Lumiere and he would ask more about what kind of Wanderer he defeated.
The little man's treasure was an encyclopedia of Wanderers he received from Xavier in his 10th birthday
He cried, yes. You took a picture and it's Lance's favorite one of all time.
Axel would bug you, Xavier, or Lance with questions or just asking help if he can't read a word properly the entire time
He has the whole contents ingrained in his memory since then. He can and will recite it given the chance just to annoy Lance.
Of course he ended up with more and more Wanderer related things, from books to figures to actual pictures
Learns to be secretive as hell because Lance tends to be super nosy when it came to his business and can read anybody like a book, a pamphlet even
Like father, like son I suppose
He still gets busted by dear bro though
Needless to say, this boy is loser geek doubled
Would be competitive as hell with video games against his dad and brother
The King of Rhythm Games, no one can beat him in that field.
Actually more of a social butterfly than Lance, but sometimes assumes everyone is his friend even when they're questionable people (why Lance gets worried sometimes), it was worse as a kid
Is not a people pleaser but pleased around people type beat
His comfort movie series is How To Train Your Dragon
Influenced his ultimate dream of befriending a Wanderer, preferably also a Dragon-type
Horrible with swords, but a great marksman from almost any long ranged weapon`
Would playfully steal you away from Xavier when Lance is doing his 😒 face again at you both being.. sus
Has a trouble magnet streak, absolutely stressing the hell out of everyone, especially Xavier
But Axel’s puppy eyes are the puppiest to puppy eye no other puppy can actually eye, ever (this isn't making sense but that's the point), so he almost gets away with it every time
Like you think you already built a tolerance from both Xavier's and Lance's double kill puppy eyes when they're trying to get something they want
But Axel's puppy eyes are a whole other level. It was heartbreaking and knee buckling, and you know damn well that Lance and Xavier uses him as last straw
And it still actually works to your dismay
The privilege as the youngest, Lance would grumble
Imagine having to live with three pleading puppy eyes everytime you say no. You must be a strong woman.
Xavier though? Well..
Xavier should be mad, really. He already knew this boy’s tactic very well. He can already hear both you and Lance berating him already in the future just after this.
Axel was left under Jeremiah’s care as per usual after school, as the boy absolutely loves the greenhouse and chattering with Jeremiah in general. You confirmed you would be home later than usual, Lance was preoccupied with training for the Hunter Licensure Examination, so that left Xavier with the task to pick him up from Philo. He planned to take Axel out to the arcade, something they haven’t gone to in a while and the 11 year old has been insisting on getting the new plushie for you when you get back. Xavier even went on a quick trip from the store just to get him his favorite yogurt drink, a small smile on his face.
Which slowly dissipated after the scene Xavier witnessed just outside the flower shop window
By one of the lounging tables, Axel was sitting rigidly, had his head drooping down that his hair masked his face, and his knuckles paling from squeezing his own knees. Across the table was Jeremiah, palms rubbing all over his face in what seemed like exasperation.
When Xavier caught on his son slightly trembling, the confusion brewing in him quickly burned into something else.
“What am I supposed to tell your dad—” Jeremiah groans, but gets cut off by Xavier bolting inside, the welcoming jingles of his shop door rattling violently. The gardener paled before the all too familiar tempered glare Xavier was throwing him right now.
“Tell me what?” Xavier spat, hurrying over Axel’s side, placing a careful hand on his back, but the sudden contact made Axel jolt, his face shooting up to look at him–big eyes swollen red from tears and snot–and something was crumbling in Xavier’s ribcage, eliciting an eye twitch.
Slowly, he turned his head towards Jeremiah in an unnerving manner, a terrifying look in his eyes as he utters again, “Tell me what?”
Jeremiah swears he’s had more close brushes with death whenever it comes to dealing with Xavier instead of actual apocalyptic cosmic threats, and this was no different. After an elongated sigh, he began to explain the situation.
Apparently, Axel found a way to get into the Hunter’s Association Database through Jeremiah’s computer for more in depth information of Wanderers, and apparently it alerted an alarm system from HQ sending Jeremiah’s computer a warning that it would seize everything that was in that device–all including some access to.. their past, if they did not stop and identify themselves. Xavier didn’t need that part elaborated, knowing Jeremiah’s crucial role in their expedition, and in all honesty? Xavier didn’t really care much about matters pertaining to that after everything he has now, until..
“He used [Name]’s ID and account to log in.”
Axel stiffened, his arms wrapping around Xavier’s waist flinching into tension, face digging into his side. Xavier’s soothing caresses slowly drew to a stop when he registered what he just said. Dread crept in his nerves when he remembered earlier this morning how You were going frantic the entire time on where the hell You could have lost Your ID while running late.
“Axel..” Xavier sighed, petting his hair, “..baby, look at me right now.”
He didn’t, shaking his head as he started to hiccup again, keeping his face stuck on his side now damp with tears. Xavier pulled him away slowly, kneeling down to meet his son’s eyes, but now it was glued on the floor as he fidgeted in his seat in guilt.
“I’m not mad..” Xavier cupped his face, wiping his tears that slowly continued to tear in his heart. “Just tell me the truth and I will help, okay?”
“I-it’s–I–” hic, “I did–It’s true,” Axel sobbed, “I-I’m sorry–Sorry, Dad–”
“Sshh, it’s gonna be fine, alright? Let’s go home–”
“N-no!” he blurted, puffy, terrified eyes now meeting Xavier’s own. He clutched his father’s hands, shaking. “Don’t–don’t tell Mom, please?”
In all honesty, he was going to tell you the situation, as you both were past that stage in your relationship of keeping secrets–especially this kind. You already knew about his past, your shared ‘history’ with him, so this shouldn’t be that much bigger right?
But there it was, a pleading gaze of a deep blue–spheres of weeping Neptunes–eyes anyone can drown in. It drove Xavier’s instincts to just cradle him in his arms for as long as he can away from everything overwhelming–consequences be damned.
He is a responsible father and a husband, but he is also just a man.
“Dad, please? I-I promise I’ll make up for it..” Axel continued to plead, sealing the deal for Xavier’s left resistance.
“Alright. But I’ll hold onto that promise right now..” Xavier gave him a stern look. “Don’t ever do something like this ever again, promise me, because I will tell your mother. You’ll have.. Different consequences for now, but.. I want you to remember this. Promise?”
“I promise.” Axel swore, calming down from his breakdown as Xavier pulled him into a proper embrace.
An exasperated sigh tore through their little moment, followed by a clearing throat. The two looked over to the source on the other side of the table.
“I think.. There’s also another one you need to say sorry to, baby.” Xavier nudged his son.
“I’m sorry, Uncle.. Please don’t hate me.”
And who is Jeremiah to do so when he looks at him like a kicked puppy who can do no wrong? He is also just a man.
(The two leave the shop after Xavier secured Jeremiah’s secrecy, going for the ice cream and arcade hang out like Xavier planned. He also made sure to clarify and sort the alarm with HQ with a quick call along the way. At the end of the day, they both go home in a happy note like nothing ever happened as Xavier returned Your ‘found’ ID.)

ꜰᴜɴ ꜰᴀᴄᴛꜱ !!
Lepus is the Hare or Bunny constellation. It was a bird turned bunny by the goddess of spring, Ostara to escape the hunter. It rests under the foot of the Orion constellation.
Orion the Hunter is a huntsman in mythology and is often referenced due to the Orion's Belt. He is cursed to be a constellation, forever stuck in the sky, hunting something he can never reach alongside his two Canis Majoris and Minor hunting dogs, all because of his arrogance
Axel was born in the Winter Solstice (December 22)
You can take these facts however as you please ☺️😌.. ಡ ͜ ʖ ಡ
acc tags: @cordidy @dann-acalle thank you for your support and patience!!
Seeing pictures of Xavier as Dark Lumiere and/or wearing that black hat inspired me to write about MC seeing him in all black, because let’s face it, that is a good look.
Warnings: SFW kissing, the slightest bit suggestive
You are way behind on the laundry. Two weeks of nonstop battling wanderers left you exhausted at the end of each day to where you could do nothing but eat and sleep, so household chores kept being put off until later. So much later that you barely had anything left to wear in your closet. You decide when you finally have a day off to cross off everything on your to-do list, beginning with the overwhelming pile of laundry.
As soon as you get dressed, you throw a load of laundry into your washer and take another basket upstairs to Xavier’s apartment. He said the night before he also had a lot of laundry to do, but his wardrobe is much smaller than yours. You were welcome to add your clothes to his load to get everything done quicker. The two of you promised to begin your chores early today, so you could spend the afternoon together resting.
You knock on Xavier’s door and enter the apartment without waiting for him to answer. Shifting the basket onto your hip, you walk through the living room and hear cups clinging from the kitchen. “Xavier, I’m here,” you say as you pass the kitchen, heading straight for the washer. “Is the washer ready to go?”
Strong arms wrap around your shoulders from behind as soon as you set down the basket, pulling you into a hug. Xavier’s warmth envelops your body. You grin as you lean into his chest. “Good morning,” Xavier whispers against your ear. His teeth graze your earlobe before he trails kisses down your neck onto your shoulder.
“Good morning,” you breathe out in a daze. There is no way you can focus on the task at hand when he’s like this. You turn in his arms to give your boyfriend a proper good morning kiss when your knees weaken at the sight of him.
Xavier is wearing all black, and, good god, does the color suit him.
You feel the blood rushing to your cheeks as you take in Xavier’s appearance. The black t-shirt and pants perfectly contrast his silver hair and transform the man’s demeanor from the gentle neighbor you know and love to a powerful knight. As your eyes scan over Xavier’s arms, you can more easily see how toned his muscles are and the veins running down his forearms. Memories of the night you two shared in a hotel while performing a “sensory test” in black bathrobes rush into your mind.
You gulp as you quickly look back up to meet Xavier’s eyes, only to immediately look away out of embarrassment. He watches your reaction, cocking his head to the side.
“Is something wrong? Your face is so red.” Xavier lifts a hand to your cheek. His touch sends an electronic bolt through your body. “You didn’t get sick from overworking yourself, did you?”
Unable to compose your thoughts, you begin to stammer. “Nn…no, I’m just surprised. You’re wearing black. I’m not used to seeing you like this.”
“Well,” Xavier chuckles, “all of my usual clothes are in the wash. This is all I had left.” He suddenly frowns. “Do you not like me in black?”
Your heart drops. Xavier looks genuinely upset, like a kicked puppy. You don’t want him to think you don’t like the way he looks, especially when the truth is quite the opposite. “What? That’s not it!” You clear your throat avoiding his gaze again and say quietly, “You actually look really hot.”
“Is that so?” You peek up at Xavier to see him smiling. His sapphire eyes light up with mirth. Xavier gently tilts your chin up, so you’re forced to look at him. “So you like how I look in these old clothes?” Meekly nodding, Xavier steps closer to you until your back is against the wall. “Should I wear them more often?”
“Not in public. I don’t think I could handle it.” Xavier smirks before giving you a passionate kiss.
As he breaks away, his breath tickles your ear. “This is a good morning. By the way, I made you breakfast. Let’s go eat.”
Xavier turns and strolls to the kitchen like nothing had just happened. Your knees finally give, causing you to slide down the wall and let out a shaky breath. This is going to be a long day.
uhh, dazai loses his ability for a day so he can pet the big cat <3
