Tsh as onion headlines part 2
i forget i'm supposed to reblog things like i can't do that that gives people notifications...... liking is scary enough my presence must not be known i lurk and snoop
how do I explain to my friend that in the last ten pages of tsh, the alcoholic shoots the druggy, we find out that the incestuous sister of the alcoholic was hooking up with the homicidal sociopath, and that homicidal sociopath shoots himself in the head partly because his narcissistic father figure ran off to the Middle East unexpectedly, and the druggy survives the gunshot wound but hallucinates the paranoid victim of a murder that this group commited a few months prior along with a bunch of other dead people while he’s in the hospital, and then somehow everyone brushes this whole ordeal off as if it were completely normal
I love this trend so much oh my god
“ronan’s second secret was adam parrish.”
watching mstief’s writing the raven cycle webinar and I just want everyone to know that she just explicitly stated that adam was supposed to go full villain in her first draft but changed her mind bc “the worst thing that could happen is they stop being friends”
there's something sooo special to me about writing that gives narrative weight and time to characters who are just brief flashes across the page, especially the ones that die. like how The Spear Cuts Through Water breaks its main narrative to give the people Keema and Jun cross paths with a voice, from the vendor to the messenger they kill to everyone else, just brief flashes of other lives that matter just as much. And how the Aeneid takes the time with the deaths in the final battles to say that this man was a hero, that this one loved his aged father, and so on. it's just the way that these books acknowledge that every single person has their own history and present, compared to so many books today that treat lives so carelessly
trk trailer ending with andrew looking over his shoulder into the camera because no one's watching his back while he watches everyone else's.
