Fue en este momento en el que Nick Fury decidió que era hora de lanzar la Iniciativa Vengadores, puesto que esto era una amenaza que SHIELD no podría manejar solo, acto que generó en Hill cierta desconfianza. Durante la invasión Chitauri, Clint Barton, bajo la influencia de Loki, usó una flecha explosiva contra el Helicarrier, haciendo que comenzara a perder altitud y a fallar.
