Strawberry Delight - LN

Summary: Lando's girlfriend loves strawberries, so he makes a point for her to always have access to them

Maybe I'm hyperfixating on strawberries...maybe I don't need to write a fic about it...but I'm going to anyway, hope you guys enjoy as much as I am currently enjoying strawberries. PS yes I know this is completely random, but it's fluffy Lando and who doesn't love that?

Lando isn't sure when he noticed y/n's love of strawberries was above the normal amount that you might expect from someone, but it was fairly early in the relationship. He always noticed that she had a couple punnets of strawberries in her fridge, despite them not being in season.

Returning back to Monaco after a few days over in Woking, Lando decides to grab some strawberries from the store on the way back to the apartment and when he gets back he smiles being greeted by the sight of y/n laid across the sofa with her arms up over her head, one over her eyes to block out the light and the tv playing what appears to be The Vampire Diaries.

She doesn't like sleeping in silence when she's on her own. Something about it being so quiet, she hates it so she always ends up sleeping on the sofa with the tv on while he's gone.

Lando smiles quickly moving to put the strawberries away before he moves around turning off the tv, picking y/n up from the soda and carrying her into the bedroom.

The only sign that she even acknowledges she's been moved is through a heavy sigh as she's placed back down.

He wastes no time getting out his clothes and joining her in the bed, but suddenly she's very much awake and the moment of a joined nap is gone.

"Good morning baby." Lando smiles, not having really needed a nap but more was just going to enjoy the opportunity to sleep with her by his side.

"Morning...you're home early." Y/n mumbles then looking around for a moment. "Did you move me?"

"Yeah, I thought it might be good to move you odd the sofa." Lando laughs then closing the space between them to kiss her, smiling at the faint taste of strawberries still on her lips. "Did you wake up earlier?"

"I didn't really sleep well, so I got up at like 4? Had something to eat-" strawberries "-and I guess I feel asleep on the sofa..."

"Sorry, for waking you baby." Lando mumbles since he wouldn't have moved her if he knew she hadn't slept well.

"It's ok, I'd rather spend time with you."

"That. Is very nice to hear." Lando smiles while y/n hums. "You taste like strawberries."

"Oh. I had some when I woke up-you know the store assistant was saying how when I first started showing up buying them out of strawberries, she thought I was pregnant." Y/n jokes immediately feeling Lando's hand shift down to rub over her tummy. "I'm still not, stop getting all weirdly excited."

"I got you some more strawberries on my way home." Lando smiles while hugging her closer and feeling her whole body tense just from excitement.

"Really?"

"Yeah. I wouldn't lie. It'd break your heart." Lando laughs making her shift around. "You ate all the other strawberries didn't you?"

"Yeah, I'm going to go get them." Y/n grins then getting up in a rush, she actually trips, managing to catch herself as she gets up in her feet.

He hears her making a quick job of washing some of the strawberries before reappearing with a bright grin. She's sort of perfected the prep of strawberries, so it's not surprise that it took her less than 5 minutes to wash and chop up the fruit.

"These might be the sexiest strawberries ever. They look so good." Y/n comments making Lando laugh before she holds on out for him first, she might love them but she's not the type to not share. Especially with Lando, he's fairly certain her choice of sharing her favourite food is a gesture of just how much she loves him.

"Mmm...yeah, very nice. You might be very right actually, these might be the best strawberries." Lando confirms while she grins while placing a couple pieces of strawberry in her own mouth. "Do you know...what my favourite thing about you loving strawberries so much is?"

"I'd be lying if I said I put that much thought into it." Y/n admits then picking up another piece of strawberries. "What is your favourite thing?"

"That you always taste like strawberries." Lando smiles earning a small laugh.

"I can see why you might like that so much." Y/n hums then giving him another strawberry.

"Hey, is there some strawberries?" Lando asks as he looks around the team food options.

"They're in your driver's room. Y/n has her own personal supply at the ready for her arrival." One of the McLaren assistant smiles. "Where is she?"

"I think she got caught outside meeting Roscoe. I just wanted to make sure she wouldn't be secretly pouting that she couldn't find strawberries."

"I've never met a woman who eats so many strawberries...actually I've never met anyone who eats that many strawberries."

Lando hums as he spots y/n appearing from outside and mumbles a thanks as he moves over to her.

"Hey, I was wondering when you'd catch up." Lando teases earning a smile from the young woman as he latches onto her waist. "You have such a reputation, they have put strawberries in my drivers room for. you."

"I love your team so much." Y/n laughs earning a hum before he leans down kissing her. "Ooh, are there burgers?"

"Such a foodie." Lando jokes while releasing her to go grab an actual meal to eat since she might love strawberries and eat a lot of them, but she does actually eat proper meals too.

Grabbing a burger, she ends up sitting with some of the team while Lando goes to train a bit with Jon. Then of course she moves to join him in his room and beams spotting the strawberries.

As expected she offers one to both the men who take one purely because neither have ever declined her offer and either are eager to find out what it'd be like if they did. Not that Lando thinks she'd be upset or angry, but he feels like she'd overthink the rejection and it'd eat away at her a little.

"When we get home, I'm going to plant a strawberry plant. That was I can grow my own." Y/n states after eating a few of the strawberries while Lando does some reaction exercises. "If it goes well, I might open a stall to sell them...or give them out for free."

"Or eat them all?" Lando offers up making her hum in thought for a moment seeming to consider that as an option if she goes forward with her plan.

"I'll see how planting one goes and then decide." Y/n nods looking down at her strawberry in hand for a moment before she bites into it with a thoughtful expression while Lando and Jon exchange a look between themselves.

Lando ends up being fed a couple more strawberries while y/n keeps herself quiet as he gets on with things.

"Ok, come on baby." Lando smiles making her move with him, grabbing one last strawberry for the road.

A summer break allowed Lando to rest and y/n to get the best strawberries in the peak of the season for them. She's continued keeping them around to snack on but primarily decided to see how many dessert recipes she could find for them.

It's taken serious self restraint on Lando's part to not just eat a lot of them. Thankfully she's been giving them to neighbours as gestures of being a good neighbour and even giving them to other drivers who live in Monaco when Lando has met up with them.

In fairness Max said that P was loving all the desserts her was taking home and had a new found love for everything strawberry based.

"Your future kids are going to love you so much." Max comments, visiting Lando from the UK, primarily just to see his friend but apparently they have some stuff to discuss for Quadrant.

"So long as they like strawberries...I'd be willing to substitute if they preferred something else." Y/n shrugs then smiling brightly. "So rating out of 10?"

"10-100 out of 10. Tastes amazing baby." Lando smiles as he stabs his fork into the strawberry tart that she made. "Are you actually going to try it?"

Y/n smiles lightly leaning forward as he holds his fork out for her to take the piece that's sitting on it.

"Mmm...I think the Japanese strawberry cake was the best but this is definitely good-oh it'd be good for a picnic, like for me to snack on while you golf or if we go on a picnic with Mila?"

"Mila would definitely love this, but I'm not sure my brother will trust me with her again after we returned her from quad biking."

"That was your idea! And she was strapped down and safe." Y/n argues immediately since it really was Lando's idea but she made sure the toddler was safe and secure. "Anyway, a picnic without quads is fine."

Lando just grins at her before smiles at her and kisses her, and while he knows he tastes of strawberry tart too. There's something that makes him feel so whole at the feeling of her lips tasting of strawberries.

"Ok guys, I'm still here third-wheeling. Keep it for when I'm not here to witness."
