William. I challenge you to a duel. We meet at four o’clock in the morning and you must bring a pocket wristwatch that is two hours fast. You know the one.
Ain't got the faintest idea what you're on about, pal! Don't think I'm too fit for duelin' in here.
When did you first meet Henry? Do you remember what year it was?
Early 1986 or thereabouts!
what's your beef with her then? why can't she just slowly recover somewhere out of your hair?
I'm simply preparing for the eventuality of her comin' back to these parts!
Henry says he liked exploring old buildings. Boy, that’s a thrill, isn’t it? Houses and churches and whatnot folks hadn’t gotten around to tearing down, I suppose. He says they get covered in graffiti and kids go there to smoke et cetera. Usually’s got a big “No Trespassing” sign plastered near the front, he says, and that’s when you know it’s the good stuff. Says he got the coppers called on him one time and had to lay flat on his stomach in the dirt for an hour ’til they left. Says another time, he nicked one of them signs to hang on his bedroom door. I don’t know if I’d have the know-how or athleticizin’ capabilities for exploring the way Henry does but he says if we ever got the chance he’d show me.
Is there anything else you'd be able to tell us about that friend of yours? The one who liked DNA stuff? I don't want to say her name just in case she can hear us here ...
she's nice. i don't think she liked talking to people much unless it was about something she knew a lot about. but if you talk to her long enough about those kinds of things then eventually you learn a little about her. mal and i had this stupid little zine we made writi ng d own what ever yone was like but it went missing . there's more about her in there for new people in the abime (you don't want to b e a ne w pers on)
Wow! Like one of them gossip rags? Anythin' about me in there?
.........no ooo o
Ha! Ha! Sure you didn't got nothin' to say about me?
maybe i'm a little hea d-over-heels f or you in ther e. sorr y. i'll s h ow you if i ever fi n d it.
you should try the boop feature! it's only for today!
Boop oop de doop!
good luck on your trip 🙏
Thanks, pal!
What was your favorite song to perform?
Henry helped me figure out how to write songs of my own in here, the way he and Mal does! I ain't really ready to share any of my solos yet; they're a tad private. But those were fun to perform -- sing -- think -- conjure? So I s'pose my favorite was the tune I sang with Henry, "Are We Doing This Thing or Not?"
If you love me, Henry, you don’t love me in a way I understand.
Do you know how it ends? Do you feel lucky? Do you want to go home now?
There’s a bottle of whiskey in the trunk of the Chevy and a dead man at our feet
staring up at us like we’re something interesting.
This is where the evening splits in half, Henry, love or death. Grab an end, pull hard,
and make a wish.
- Wishbone, Richard Siken
Damn! You and me too, Richard! I oughtta grab a drink with this fella!
Kid, it was in the pages ya sent! Better make sure you know what you're sharin' before you share it with everyone next time, I s'pose.
'Sides, it ain't a great quality in the first place for a research assistant to be sharin' confidential documents that way! Even a former one. Where's your respect for the norms of a professional workin' relationship?
handing this to william Instantly
WOW! Henry, take a gander! It looks just like you!
h e y... may b e.
Just two fellas who spend their time en abime. We'll see ya there!
