For @mina-jamsin-derulo, based on "Eyes on the future." Thank you for the lovely prompt art!
A little vignette with Anakin and Ahsoka watching the twins spar on Naboo.
Or, how Ben Kenobi’s boldfaced lie prevarication saved the Galaxy (but not in the way he thought it would).
(See Part One)
Part Two
For the first time in a long time, the cold, dead-star dragon of dread that gnaws at Anakin Skywalker’s heart and mind has loosened its constricting coils. It’s still there, of course, lurking. Waiting patiently for its next opportunity to strike. Hissing its dire warnings of loss and failure and impotence. But having cleared the air with his Master – having named the dragon aloud – has lessened its influence. The dragon thrives on secrecy, after all – on that dark, cold, hollow space in his chest. And it’s hard for the dragon to grow when that space is instead flooded with light.
If only it weren’t for this blasted war and the fact that he still has to hide his marriage…
If only it weren’t for the fact that one secret – Luke and Darth Vader – still lies between himself and everyone he loves…
Meanwhile, Palpatine continues to plot. Plans A through C have failed? That’s… irksome. (Deeply irksome, if Palpatine is to be honest.) But it isn’t as though he lacks alternates.
Fortunately for Palpatine, Plan D. (Operation ‘Kill’ Kenobi) works beautifully.
At first.

Hey uh, just a heads up, I'm going to use some of your art in a presentation that I'm doing for my English class. it's about something we are an expert on and I chose to do mine on fanfiction, and one of the questions we have to anwser is what things do you like and not like about the chosen topic, and I wanted to choose your fanfic as something that I like because it is awesome. hope you don't mind?
OMG, I don't mind at all! Thank you so much! 💛💛💛 Also, I think it's really cool that you're doing a presentation on fanfic. Good luck with your presentation, I hope it goes well!
Lovely hilarious thought for later, once Vader learns the Leia thing and gets his the rule of two is stupid actually he will be like, I know! Star Killer can marry my daughter, this works out well yes. This clearly solves all of my problems. Once he admits to himself he wants all of his fam on his side dark side like Ahsoka ill make you the Super Sith Princess? give you a pile of gold to Dragon Horde and other lovelies and the rest. be hilarious all the temp to Dark pretty Please?
Hey, sorry I missed this somehow!
Lol, this would be funny to see, Vader trying to just straight up start a Sith Dynasty and dragging in the entire fam! I wonder if Padmé would very grudgingly go along with it just because someone has to try to keep the chaos to a minimum. She would, of course, end up being part of the chaos.
The final chapter of Part II, in which Vader's hope and Ahsoka's fear are confirmed, and Padmé realises the truth about her Imperial contact.
Okay, so maybe that's being just a touch dramatic. Seriously, though, it seems like there's a lot of tagging advice on Reddit, etc., that talks about not using a lot of tags, only tagging the really major characters, keeping the tags relevant and useful for sorting, and all that. I've kind of freaked myself by reading those conversations, and then looking at my own fic like... oh... dear... you have so many tags... do people find that obnoxious?
I dunno. Personally, I love all the fun, silly, casual, chatty, cracky, creative tags that authors use. Maybe they're not much good for sorting, but they make me smile. I don't mind reading through a huge block of tags, because apparently mine is a bit of a magpie brain, but instead of shiny things, it wants words. Plus, when there are a lot of tags, there's that much more opportunity to find a fun one!
It's also usually nice when there are a lot of characters tagged, because then I can see who all is in the story, not just the MCs. Same goes for relationships. When it comes to tagging my own fic, of course, I'm like, "Major characters? Important relationships? But they're all important! I want to tag them all!"
So, I totally don't blame people who do this as well. And if you prefer to be efficient and tidy, that works, too. Seems like, it's your story, and you know how you want to present it, so why not tag away as you see fit?
**Now that I think of it, though, there could be one very valid caveat to this perspective. Do the majority of AO3 tagwranglers find it frustrating to deal with the zany, one-off tags?
Characters have hijacked the chapter, and now the writer is just getting towed along for the ride.
I'm not sure what this chapter was originally supposed to be, but somehow it's turned into "Girls' Night: the ex-Senator/ex-Jedi-Sith's widow/ex-Jedi-Sith's padawan/Jedi dropout/Rebel agent Version," because Padmé and Ahsoka decided they wanted to hang out and chat.
I feel like Harold Lloyd or Buster Keaton.
My mom has zero sympathy. "Enjoy the ride! 😂" she says.
Teeny II-XIV spoiler below, don't click if you don't wanna know!
Oh yeah, and then Vader decided to stick his nose in, because why wait until next chapter like you're supposed to, when you could make a totally unplanned appearance in the current chapter, instead?
In which Padmé makes a difficult decision, and Vader spends some time with his apprentice.
Not sure if this has been asked or not, but how would canon Luke and Leia react to meeting your au versions of them?
omg I'VE BEEN WANTING TO MAKE AN INTO THE LUKE-AND-LEIA-VERSE FOR AGES thank you for kicking me into doing it
(donation doodles! // tip jar)
Just checking in and seeing how Fortunes Rule is going ❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽🥹😅
It's going. Slowly, but surely! 😅 Nobody is having a good time in this chapter (except the twins, of course), and it's proving rather challenging to write for some reason.
Thanks for checking in! 💛
And here's a little snippet from the chapter :)
The second morning, Beru’s call came while Padmé was pacing her room and rehearsing the finer details of her cover story in preparation for the day’s meetings. “Have you found them?” Padmé blurted, the moment she answered her comm. “No.” Beru’s voice was subdued. “There’s still no sign. No one’s even seen the speeder. Of course, if they left it somewhere, it’s probably been picked up by Jawas, or some lowlife looking for a ride.” Unless, of course, speeder and twins been collectively taken possession of first. Frankly, that seemed just as likely. Padmé continued to pace. “Owen checked the slave markets in Espa,” Beru added. “He didn’t see them there.” “That’s…” Padmé started, but she couldn’t finish the sentence. That’s good. It was good, wasn’t it? Owen hadn’t seen the twins in the Mos Espa slave markets. That was good. Unless it just meant they had already been— A wave of blank terror threatened to overwhelm her at the thought of her children being sold as slaves. They couldn’t have been. They just couldn’t. But if they had… I might never see them again. They might grow up as slaves. Unless someone discovers what they are, and Palpatine finds out, and—
OMG, as someone started out reading fanfic on AO3, a foray into FFN is just plain nerve wracking.
Like, I have no idea whether this story I just started is a fix-it (which I want), or whether it's going to turn out canon compliant. What if there's an MCD?
There's literally no to way to know except sneaking a look at the end of the story, or maybe the comments, and I don't want to do that and spoil it, in case it really is a fix-it! Because while it would be good to know that everything turns out okay, I don't want the all the details, ya know?
How the heck did anyone survive before AO3?
Update: YEP, stayed up till midnight just to get burned by MCD. 😭 FFN, why.
A hodgepodge of things relating to Fortune's Rule, my Star Wars fix-it fic: behind-the-scenes-type writing stuff, maybe some sneak-peekish bits, art that may or may not make it into the story, and thoughts and questions about the SW universe. Plus, probably, some memes and other random stuff as well!
