I’m listening to “Rock n Roll is King,” by ELO and it hit me.
Steve and Bucky went straight from swing, big band, and Jazz music to whatever the fuck was happening in 2014 ish. What a shock to the system!!
Who taught them about rock music and Elvis and The Beatles? Who taught them how music changed and shaped the world?
Funny how so many fics and even the MCU itself had things like “Star Wars” and the internet. But what about everything in between? So many culturally significant things happened in that 70 odd years and Star Wars was the best they could do?
I mean I get that the MCU wanted to just quickly throw in stuff for the whole “man out of time thing” without actually dealing with it properly or how it would have affected him mentally.
But when he first meets up with the soon to be Avengers and he hears AC/DC?
Or music in shops or cafes. Sitting and sketching a new modern skyline and he can’t help but listen to some lyrics and it’s rap music or hard rock and he’s like “what did they just say???”
