Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

If this is the first post you’ve seen of my Akashi series for Alpha/Betas/Omegas I’ll bring you up to speed. An Akashi much like the Kagune from Tokyo Ghoul are extra appendages that are located on a persons back. All dynamics have them but they are different depending on which Dynamic you are. I already made a post about an Alpha’s Akashi called the Bukishi (meaning “weapon limb”) and Betas Akashi called Kazashi (meaning “many limb”) here:

Today we’ll be going over the final dynamic, Omegas and their Akashi called the Haneshi (meaning “winged limb”).

Haneshi

Art by @AquaticNaho on Twitter

Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

The Haneshi are a set of four bird-like wings the eject out of an Omegas back. The Haneshi has many feathers and the color/pattern those feathers have vary from person to person and region to region.

Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

The Haneshi allows Omegas to fly at incredible speeds, allowing them to keep up with a commercial airplane that flies at around 550 and 600 mph. Their ability to fly allows Omegas to keep their children/pups out of harms way to flee if they are forced to.

Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

The edge of the Haneshi is very sharp and could cut down multiple tress at once if an Omega were to fly through a forest.

Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

The Haneshi can also be used as a shield to protect them and their children/pups from enemies. It also provides them with a height advantage over other dynamics.

Omegaverse Worldbuilding: Omega’s Akashi

Finally, the Haneshi can shoot out from its front spikes that paralyze the part of the body it hits. This effect is instant and lasts for a few hours even after the spike is removed.

Do you think changing rooms and bathrooms are segregated as “alpha” “beta” “omega” or do you think they will be all together? I have seen lots of places just have everything all together. Would omegas feel comfortable changing with stranger Alphas around?

Hey! So everyone’s omegaverse is different, but for me at least places tend to be all together. It would probably be too difficult for store owners and schools to keep things separated by alpha beta and omega. The only time I would think they would be separated would be if one of the dynamics is in danger if near the others.

I would say that omegas and maybe even betas will feel some sort of discomfort or fear of being in such a vulnerable position around the stronger dynamic. One place I think of that is all together but the dynamics may be uncomfortable is a school locker room especially around the time that the teens begin their first heats and ruts.

Hope that answered your question!

I think this Venom vs Carnage fight really exemplifies how I think Alphas would fight in my setting.

Since Alpha/Beta/Omega in my setting an extra appendage on their back called an Akashi (meaning “red limb”) that gets ejected out of their backs ( like Kagunes from Tokyo Ghoul), that takes a different form depending on which dynamic you are. I already made a post about Alphas Akashi called the Bukishi (meaning “weapon limb”) here.

But the gist of it is that Alphas can shape the Akashi into any form they desire much like how the carnage symbiote forms different weapons out of his limbs. So I feel the way Carnage fights Venom is very similar to how Alphas would fight.

A Bukishi is a tail like appendage that can be molded and shaped into anything the Alpha desires at will (spear, sword, hammer, armour, fist, shield, axe). It is a short range Akashi and is ejected at the lower back (I know it is not in the image but pretend that it is). Evolved that way in order to protect their pack. Their Akashi are the biggest, heaviest and most sturdy which is why the Alphas are as tall, big, and strong as they are. Usually are on the frontlines in battles.

Secret techniques: the Four Gears:

A technique passed down by Alphas that uses the Akashi in 4 unique ways.

Gear 1: Standard weaponry (one handed kagune combat)

Gear 4: Sussano

The hardest to master and after use the Alpha will be unable to use their Akashi for 24-hours. Their muscles will also be sore.

Headcannons about ABO dynamics's Evolution during history? Something that really fascinantes me about the omegaverse is the biological aspect of It and the Evolution that the 'secondary sexes and dynamics may have experienced over the years. Did alphas, omegas and betas exist since the beginning of the human race? Or at first there were only beta men and women and the rest of the dynamics appeared later?

I like to imagine that originally only existed beta men and women, but at some point the human race was at such big risk of becoming extinct that the secondary alpha/omega dynamics appeared as a mechanism to guarantee a higher chance of reproduction. The capacity of impregnating and getting pregnant being independent from the first sex (man or woman) would allow communities to keep growing despite having a lack of men or women, because there would still be a certain percentage of Alpha women/ omega men that can impregnate/be pregnant and compensate the lack of biological men and women (If we asume that the possibilities of becoming Alpha, beta and omega are all the same)

happy monday!

I've seen it both ways, I prefer writing the "always been this way" style because honestly it makes it easier for me and i have less questions I have to muddle through in the worldbuilding journey.

Here's some of my considerations -

the beta loving community is strong! making betas = normal humans doesn't normally play well with that crowd. Of course, I never write things or refrain from writing things for the pleasure of other people, but still.

if there was an event that impacted fertility rates like that - what's the point of having betas at all? and beyond that does that mean all alphas men and/or amab? are all omegas women and/or afab?

If not - this turns into sort of two phenomenons, 1. being the hypersexuality and hyper-fertility and 2. this suggests biologically at some point teens might develop the genitalia and secondary sex characteristics normally biologically reserved for the opposite gender. With my very small knowledge of what life is like as an intersex individual, I doubt that society would suddenly jump on this train like it's the bee's knees. What then???

Human evolution moves slowly - there are several vestigial elements that are fading out of the genome everyday - like having wisdom teeth, appendix, and a specific type of ear muscle. What sort of event/situation could spark such a large scale change so quickly (even over hundreds of years)?

If it's an evolution thing, that suggests an in and out group. Who are the out-group and what if they're not too into the whole omegaverse thing? (again looping back to the question of betas). Is the in group then a different specie of human alltogether?

If the purpose of this is to get fertility rates up, logically it wouldn't be the first thing that occured. Polyamory would likely become more popular - especially men with multiple wives unfortunately. The human litter size might get bigger. It would become socially acceptable to have children younger - or maybe menopause would start getting later and later. Maybe both. Having children would also need to become a lot cheaper - and if your society is quasi-modern, people would likely need massive incentives if the situation really was that dire. Nobody wants to have a baby just for that baby to have to experience the end of the world.

Regardless of all these considerations above, for anyone interested in developing their own omegaverse rules - do consider a punnet square. If you don't just want to have alphas and omegas, there needs to be some combination of their genes that leads to a beta - or they'll simply cease to exist.

Fertility/population is a tricky thing to use as a fantasy mechanism because in the real world, declining birth rates can't usually be attributed to one single thing - normally it's a multitude of factors converging on one another. Of course, this is inherently a fantastical genre which gives us all the freedom to play and have a little fun making stuff up along the way.

Omegaverse WORLDBUILDING 3: Gender

Before getting into any of the Genders I want to do my best to explain what gender is and means in my world since I know the definition can get kinda muddled in real life. Also just so there’s no confusion in my world there is Primary Sex (Male and Female), Secondary Sex (Alpha, Beta, and Omega), and finally Gender. They are all different and mean different things.

Definition and Explanation

a list of patterns in behaviours, interests, beliefs, style, and desire to fill a role in society that is shared by enough people to label them and put them into categories. The people in each gender don’t have to share all the interest associated with that gender and it doesn’t mean they can’t share anything in common with other genders, but it is where a person feels they most belong to, feel most accepted in, share most interest/likes/beliefs with people of, have the most in common with, see themselves in and most reflected in the people who are a members of a particular gender.

List of all Genders:

Gammas

Gammas are what people would consider a woman/girl and feminine. Think about what comes to your mind when you hear the word girl and that’s essentially what a Gamma is. Gammas tend to speak in a higher pitch, like to wear bright colours, have very “feminine” mannerisms and way of speaking. Even though I may say “feminine” as a way to describe these traits to those reading, these traits and interests in my world have been completely divorced socially from the Female Sex. So in the world these traits are not “feminine” they’re “Gamminine” since these traits are found in Gammas not Females (since Gammas can be male or female).

Signs of being a Gamma:

likes to speak in a higher pitch, likes to wear dresses/skirts/crop-tops (or just a general interest in those kinds of clothing), likes jewelry, makeup, dress-up, cute things, wears bright colors, likes having their hair long and styling it in certain ways, loves long nails, very in-tuned with their feelings, very emotionally intelligent, values feelings (maybe not over logic but still thinks it’s as important), basically likes the feminine style. A Gamma doesn’t have to like all or even most of these things, being a Gamma is about how you feel and about where you feel you most belong.

Omegas make up 50% of the Gamma population and are the majority. Betas make up 30% of the Gamma population. Alphas make up 20% of the Gamma population.

Omegaverse WORLDBUILDING 3: Gender

Thetas

Thetas are basically the “masculine” (though as I’ve said about Gammas stereotypical masculine traits have been completely divorced from the Male Sex in my world) equivalent of Gammas. Thetas speak in a lower pitch, usually wear dark and matted colors, “masculine” mannerisms and way of speaking. Usually if you’re interested in what is called “masculine” things you’re a Theta.

Signs you may be a Theta:

Likes sports, likes to wear suits/hoodies/baggy pants/leather jackets/or a very casual style, enjoys more rough and dirty activities, is very stoic, likes risk-taking, prefers directness, more of a practical thinker and values logic more than feelings, not that interested in fashion or dressing up, values physical and emotional strength, values courage and are assertive, very protective, likes a lot of physical activities like Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, or anything that involves physical strength and adventure. A strong interest in activities like football, basketball, weightlifting, or motorsports. Not all or even most of these traits are required to be a Theta but these are common traits associated with them.

Omegaverse WORLDBUILDING 3: Gender
Omegaverse WORLDBUILDING 3: Gender
Omegaverse WORLDBUILDING 3: Gender

Deltas

Deltas are those who do not quite fit into either category. Deltas are kind of a balance between both sides. They may value traits like courage and physical strength but they also see the value in softer traits like compassion and love. It’s quite hard to write for them since they do not have an equivalent in real life, but they are definitely more androgynous and they are like the best of both worlds. When I think about them I think mostly about the cast from part 5 of the anime/manga series JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure. They are obviously manly men but more than other parts they are a lot on the softer side, which is definitely reflected in their fashion.

Signs you may be a Delta

Do not fit into either being a Gamma or a Theta. Values different aspects of both genders, have a more androgynous style that takes inspiration from both genders.
